The doorbell rang quickly and resolutely, as if urging the people in the house to respond quickly. Ruan Jianan held Lin Yanan's hot hand tightly, his face full of anxiety and worry.

"Who could it be? At this time..." Lin Yanan murmured weakly, with a hint of fear in her eyes. Her lips were chapped and her face was red due to the high fever.

Ruan Jianan took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down. "Don't be afraid, Yanan, I'll go take a look." He gently let go of Lin Yanan's hand, stood up and walked towards the door. Every step he took was like stepping on cotton, and his steps were weak.

With every step he took, Ruan Jianan's heart rose to his throat. He slowly reached for the door handle, hesitated for a moment, and finally opened the door.

Standing outside the door was actually Ruan Jianan's good friend Li Ming. "Jianan, I heard you guys are in trouble!" Li Ming's face was full of concern, with beads of sweat on his forehead, and it was obvious that he had come in a hurry.

Ruan Jianan seemed to have found a life-saving straw and pulled Li Ming into the house. "Li Ming, Yanan suddenly had a high fever, and the car was tampered with. We don't know what to do now!" Ruan Jianan's voice was trembling, his eyes were red, and his voice became hoarse due to anxiety.

Li Ming quickly walked to Lin Yanan and touched her forehead. "You have a serious fever. You need to be sent to the hospital immediately!" His brows were furrowed and his expression was serious.

"But the car..." Ruan Jianan pointed at the door helplessly, his hands hanging helplessly at both sides of his body.

"Don't worry, I drove here!" Li Ming said, and together with Ruan Jianan, he helped Lin Yanan up and walked out. Lin Yanan's body was limp, and almost all of her weight was on them.

Lin Yanan leaned in Ruan Jianan's arms in a daze, still mumbling to herself. "Jianan, I feel so bad..." Her voice was so weak that it was almost inaudible. Ruan Jianan looked at her distressedly and comforted her softly: "Yanan, hold on, we will be at the hospital soon." His eyes were full of pity and determination.

Li Ming got in the car and drove fast. Ruan Jianan hugged Lin Yanan tightly, not daring to take his eyes off her face. Lin Yanan's breathing was rapid and disordered, and every breath affected Ruan Jianan's heart.

Arriving at the hospital, the doctors and nurses quickly pushed Lin Yanan into the emergency room. Ruan Jianan and Li Ming waited anxiously outside the door, and every second seemed so long.

Ruan Jianan paced back and forth, his hands clenched into fists, his knuckles white from exertion. He looked at the door of the emergency room, then at the ceiling, silently praying that Lin Yanan would be safe.

Li Ming sat on a chair nearby, frowning and tapping the armrests with his fingers. He looked at Ruan Jianan from time to time, wanting to say something comforting, but he didn't know where to start.

After an unknown amount of time, the doctor finally came out of the emergency room.

"Doctor, how is she?" Ruan Jianan rushed over and asked anxiously, his eyes full of expectation and fear.

The doctor took off his mask and said, "He is out of danger for now, but he still needs to be observed."

Hearing this, Ruan Jianan and Li Ming both breathed a sigh of relief. Ruan Jianan's body suddenly went limp, leaning against the wall, tears welling up in his eyes.

However, just when they thought they could relax a little, Ruan Jianan's cell phone suddenly rang.

"Ruan Jianan, don't think you can get away with it like this. Your troubles have just begun..." A gloomy voice came from the other end of the phone, as if it was a demon from hell.

Ruan Jianan's face turned pale instantly. He held the phone tightly and his body trembled uncontrollably. "Who are you? Why are you doing this to us?" he shouted angrily.

There was a sneer from the other end of the phone, and then the call was hung up.

Ruan Jianan stood there blankly, his heart filled with anger and helplessness.
