Crossing the Passenger Sacrifice

Chapter 10 Dark Villain

Huang Ruochu's cheeks flushed and he quickly slipped away, walking quickly towards his home under the moonlight.

Although she cannot participate in tomorrow's rescue, she is actually quite happy in her heart. At least she can do something within her ability to help more time travelers survive.

She completed the task well today, so she decided to go home and make herself a cup of milk tea as a reward.

Humming a popular tune, Huang Ruochu stepped on the bluestone slabs and skipped to the door of his home.

Before she even entered the house, the scene before her made her look pale, the tune in her mouth came to an abrupt halt, and her good mood suddenly plummeted to the bottom.

She stared blankly ahead, her mind going blank.

There is a chestnut horse at the door.

She looked at the tall and majestic horse as if she was watching a horror movie.

Her home was also small, only slightly larger than the Sang Mansion, but she could still hear the noisy laughter from inside the door.

It’s over, my Xuan’er!

Huang Ruochu's legs felt weak, but he had to run forward, stumbling and even using his body to push the door open to get in.

Her parents were both there, drinking tea with a smile on their faces. No idea why they wanted to drink tea so late at night.

And her Xuan'er was held by a woman and was smiling happily at her.

Hearing Huang Ruochu's movement, everyone looked towards her.

Xuan Er called her sweetly, "Mother!"

"Li Huoyue?!"

Huang Ruochu was a little overwhelmed. The way she looked at the woman who was smiling at her was no different from looking at a dark villain.

She mustered up her courage, stepped forward and snatched Xuan'er back, and asked Li Huoyue, "Why are you here?"

"Ruoruo, why do you talk to Miss Li like that?!" The father was the first to blame Huang Ruchu.

"You are so rude!" Huang Ruochu's mother also reprimanded Huang Ruochu for her sudden behavior. "Miss Li was so kind to ask our family to find Divine Doctor Huo to treat your son's injury, but we didn't even spend any money to hire him! You know best how much money and time we spent. Now Miss Li has heard about you, and she didn't dare to delay for a moment to help invite Divine Doctor Huo, but you, you give him a cold shoulder as soon as you get here!"

Huang Ruochu didn't believe that Li Huoyue was really so kind. Besides, who would call a doctor for someone else's family in the middle of the night?

They're all excuses!

After saying that, she hugged Xuan'er and silently walked away.

It seems that the reminder above was really correct. She didn't know what she did wrong that led to Li Huoyue coming to her so quickly.

When she found the chestnut horse parked right at her doorstep, she was so anxious that she feared Xuan'er was in danger and was being kidnapped and held hostage by Li Huoyue, so she rushed in without thinking and didn't even send a distress signal.

"Doctor Huo?" Huang Ruochu looked around, "Where is that person? Where is Doctor Huo?"

Just as she finished questioning, an old man's voice really came from outside the door:

"What's the hurry, little girl? Fortunately, I am still strong as an old man, otherwise I would have been shaken to pieces on horseback!"

As the old man spoke, he walked in carrying a medicine box and sorting his clothes.

White beard and a red lacquered wooden box.

"Oh! Thank you for your hard work, Doctor Huo!" Father Huang hurried forward and helped carry the medicine box.

Doctor Huo waved his hand, indicating that he should do it himself.

Huang Ruochu had met Doctor Huo many times, but was always dismissed by his pharmacist with a simple "queue up for an appointment".

She didn't dare to argue. After all, even many high-ranking officials were sent away in this way.

She originally thought that her Xuan'er might have to walk with a limp in the future, and she also resented that the medical system of this era was not developed at all, otherwise her Xuan'er would definitely have a chance to regain health.

She was about to give up, but who would have thought that under such circumstances, she would see the dawn of hope with Xuan'er.

"Alas, I heard that you are going to travel around and collect herbs for a while. I am worried that the child will miss the treatment time. The sooner the treatment, the better!" Li Huoyue smiled and accepted Doctor Huo's complaint.

Doctor Huo glanced at Li Huoyue and said sarcastically, "Oh, I've been in Kyoto for almost half a year, and now you're thinking of getting treatment early?"

Huang's mother, who felt something was wrong, stepped forward to explain for Li Huoyue: "It's not Miss Li's fault. My son just caught up with Miss Li's sister-in-law today. As soon as she heard about Xuan'er's situation, she rushed to ask you to come. Thank you so much for taking the trouble to come so late at night."

Li Huoyue didn't say anything. He waited quietly for Huang's mother to finish speaking, then made a "just watch" expression to Doctor Huo.

Doctor Huo failed to perform the Yin-Yang trick, and angrily put down his medicine box: "You are like a piece of wood, and you don't even come to help me pick up the medicine box!"

Li Huoyue took Xuan'er away from Huang Ruchu's arms, brought him to Doctor Huo, and said, "Aren't you unhappy that someone helped you carry him?"

Doctor Huo couldn't find anything to blame, so he asked, "Do you still want me to see you?"

"Okay, okay." Li Huoyue gently pushed Xuan'er forward, "I'll leave it to you. I'll go out for a walk first."

"Get out of here! I get angry just looking at you!" Doctor Huo waved his hands repeatedly.

"Come together, Miss Huang." Li Huoyue turned to Huang Ruchu and said, "Dr. Huo doesn't like people watching him. You staying won't make much difference."

Huang Ruochu followed Li Huoyue out in a daze, as if she was sleepwalking. In fact, she had no other choice.

After the two of them went out, they slowly walked to the edge of a lake with a wide view.

The rain has stopped, and there are no dark clouds in the sky tonight. The bright moonlight slants on the lake, making the entire lake surface look bright.

"Let's chat, Miss Huang." Li Huoyue spoke first.

Huang Ruochu suddenly knelt on the ground with a serious expression, which scared Li Huoyue.

"What are you doing?!"

"Miss Li, I know your father is a special inspector, and I also know what a special inspector does." Huang Ruochu had tears in her eyes, and she looked particularly pitiful under the moonlight. "If you want to arrest me, I have no objection. I only ask you to let Xuan'er go!"

It was similar to what Li Huo had guessed.

"Stand up and talk first." Li Huoyue said, "Your voice is too low when you are kneeling. I can't hear you clearly."

Huang Ruochu looked up at Li Huoyue, but could not see any special expression on Li Huoyue's face.

After a long time, he slowly stood up.

Seeing Huang Ruochu standing up again, Li Huoyue asked, "Did you give birth to Xuan'er yourself?"

"No." Huang Ruochu did not hide his identity any more. "When I traveled through time, Xuan'er was almost two months old."

Huang Ruochu recalled the various situations he encountered when he first arrived.

She thought about it all silently, thinking that Li Huoyue would ask some more questions about her previous life, or talk about what happened today.

As a result, Li Huoyue's next question frightened her so much that she almost fell into the lake.

Li Huoyue asked: "Who is your master?"
