Pokémon cross over into the real world
Chapter 552 Jia Wencheng’s Trial (1)
Jia Wencheng currently possesses Alakazam, Gengar, Butterfree, Pidgeot, Gyarados, and Milotic. If it weren't for Wang Qiyi, Jia Wencheng would be considered the strongest trainer of the younger generation. At just 19 years old, he already has six Pokémon, all of which are at Master level or above, including Milotic, a Legendary.
However, the Legendary Milotic he currently possesses isn't entirely obedient, and its attitude towards Jia Wencheng is rather aloof, somewhat dismissive. Jia Wencheng's initial success in capturing Milotic was due to a combined attack by five Pokémon, one of which, Gyarados, had even Mega Evolved. Pokémons that are crippled by multiple attacks and then captured in Poké Balls are often defiant trainers, and most will flee. The only reason Milotic survived was thanks to the Luminous Technology-made Dive Ball.
So now, Milotic is only willing to be the nanny and doctor of Jia Wencheng's team, and is still unwilling to fight unless it encounters danger.
Alakazam has a Psychic-type, Gengar has a Ghost-type and a Poison-type, Butterfree has a Flying-type and a Bug-type, Pidgeot has a Flying-type and a Normal-type, Gyarados has a Flying-type and a Water-type, and after Mega Evolution, there's a Dark-type, and Milotic has a Water-type. So, Jia Wencheng's Pokémon have a pretty diverse stat range. If he wants to get Z-Pure Crystals with all these stats, two days won't be enough.
He knew time was running out, so upon arriving on Ula'ula Island, he immediately took action as soon as he received the Trial Manual. He hadn't just rented a Kentaro at Kentaro Ranch; the young man who rode the Kentaro away with him was his paid guide.
There are only about 4 people living in the secret realm of the four islands of the alliance, and a large part of them are family members of core personnel, so any local person can lead the trial-takers. However, the consumption level in this secret realm is quite high, and only rich people can afford to hire a guide.
Lu Yi was the guide Jia Wencheng had hired. He was of Dragon Nation descent, having renounced his Dragon Nation citizenship by serving the Alliance since his grandfather's generation. However, his parents were also Dragon Nation natives, so he quickly bonded with Jia Wencheng. He was two years younger than Jia Wencheng, and though only seventeen, he possessed a master-level Tanabata Bluebird, making him a prominent young trainer among the Alliance's United High Schools.
Many trainers from various countries came to the island for the trials, so the school assigned them internship tasks. The first was to serve as a guide for the trainers participating in the trials, thereby earning some money to buy breeding resources for their own Pokémon. The second task was to follow the trainers and observe their trials and learn some tactics.
With these two mission objectives in mind, Lu Yi waited at Kentaro Ranch for the arrival of the Trial Trainers. He possessed a powerful Tanabata Bluebird, a testament to his parents' considerable skill as trainers, who frequently purchased training resources for him. So, making money wasn't his primary goal; he wanted to see the skills and tactics of the Pokémon trained by the experts from outside. Staying in a small town forever limited his horizons.
Therefore, he looked down upon young trainers like Jia Wencheng. He believed that participating in the trials at such a young age was simply a formality, and he would probably be eliminated if he couldn't even defeat the first trial opponent. However, Jia Wencheng offered a guide fee of 20,000 Alliance Coins right away.
This offer was simply too much. Lu Yi's father was a Legendary, his mother a Master, and his family was considered quite wealthy. His monthly living expenses were only 3000 Alliance Coins, which already covered his elf training. Therefore, he could only invest the vast majority of his resources in Qixi Bluebird, leaving his other lesser pet to serve as a secondary support. After graduation, he planned to work in the Alliance as a quest officer to increase his income and allow him to train other elves.
This time, Jia Wencheng immediately gave him 2 yuan, which was his living expenses for half a year. Without saying a word, he immediately led the way for this wealthy man. His first trial subject was named Kikunoko, a former Sakura Countryman. Lu Yi's face darkened when he saw this first trial subject. She was a terrifying old woman. He was very reluctant to meet her, but Alliance Coins was too tempting.
Seeing his tangled look, Jia Wencheng asked curiously, "What's wrong? Is this Kikunoko hard to find?"
"No, it's just that this person is a little special."
"Special? Very strong?"
"Well... you can say it's very strong. I suspect that your trial this time..." Lu Yi wanted to say that this trial could be over in the first place, but he was embarrassed to say it. You can't curse others to be eliminated in the first round just when they come to participate in the trial. After thinking about it, he shut up.
"Haha, I'm not afraid of strong ones, because I'm stronger. Don't underestimate my strength." Jia Wencheng flashed the six Poké Balls strapped to his waist. You have to know, few people his age can raise six Pokémon. Firstly, they can't afford them, and secondly, they can't register six Pokémon in the League without a Legendary Qualification. Even the last Milotic to join his team hadn't registered with the League yet. However, this kind of Trial doesn't require a registration or a Qualification Certificate; as long as the Pokémon listens to your commands, you can send them out.
Jia Wencheng looked confident, while Lu Yi was internally worried. He wondered who else he could have drawn, but Kikunoko. Kikunoko was a nearly 80-year-old grandmother and a veteran trainer. She had once been a powerful figure in the League, a legendary top trainer with legendary Pokémon on her lap.
However, after her legendary ace Pokémon died in a mission years ago, and her second Pokémon also passed away due to age, Kikunoko entered retirement. Although she no longer had any particularly powerful Pokémon, they were all veterans of about the same age as Grandma Kikunoko, each of them battle-hardened. It was indeed difficult to obtain Trial Certification from her.
Looking at Jia Wencheng again, he was only 20 years old. Lu Yi had a feeling this participant was around his age. How much stronger could he be? Failing the trial against Grandma Kikunoko was inevitable. But thinking about it from another perspective, he only needed to make one trip and easily get Alliance Coins—that wasn't bad either.
Kikunoko lived at the foot of Mount Lanakila. When Wang Qiyi and Red took the cable car to the top to find Francis, Lu Yi and Jia Wencheng had just arrived nearby. However, Kikunoko's residence was nestled in a mountain valley, obscured by the mountains on either side, keeping out almost no sunlight. Consequently, the vegetation was sparse, the environment gloomy and damp, and the roads were covered in moss and extremely slippery.
The two rode the Kentaro slowly forward. Entering the canyon, the temperature plummeted. Although it was a tropical island summer, the canyon was dim, damp, and cold, like a winter evening. Jia Wencheng breathed on his cold hands, white mist gushing out of his mouth. He couldn't help but shiver. "Why is it so cold? And it feels so eerie and scary."
"That's right, the canyon here is called the Howling Ghost Valley. Every night, all kinds of strange laughter can be heard in the canyon, which makes people feel creepy. Deep in the canyon is the habitat of ghost elves. Wild ghost elves often appear here, and they especially like to play pranks. When I was a child, I often came here to explore and test my courage with my friends. I am very familiar with the roads here." Lu Yi said.
"I understand coming here to explore and catch Pokémon, but why does this trainer named Kikunoko live here? It's so cold and damp. Isn't he afraid of getting rheumatism?"
"You don't know Grandma Kikunoko yet, right? This old woman is a famous witch. She likes to live in this gloomy environment because all her spirits are ghost-type. She is an expert in ghost-type spirits. When we were kids playing here, we would be scared and run away whenever we saw her."
"Who are you talking about, old woman?" A sharp voice came to their ears, startling Jia Wencheng and Lu Yi. They quickly turned around and looked around, but no one was there. Jia Wencheng quickly opened the Poké Ball, and Gengar and Xiaoqian jumped out to protect him.
