Xie Daosheng, the chief academic officer of the Imperial College, stood on a high platform below the stands, holding a large copper loudspeaker in his hand. He first expressed his welcome to the guests in the stands.

Then he turned around and gave an impassioned speech to the students lined up in neat rows on the horse field, expressing that this event had received the emperor's high attention and the strong support of the people and officials of Shengjing City, saying that this event was of great significance, and also expressing encouragement and blessings to the students.

After Xie Daosheng finished his speech, he handed the loudspeaker to Yang Fugong, who announced the arrangements for today's event, as well as the specific competition process and rules.

Today's activities are divided into archery competition and polo competition. The first one is the archery competition. There are more than a thousand students registered for the archery competition. Among them, except for a few students from Zhongzi School, Taixue and Simen School, almost all other students have signed up.

As the academies of law, calligraphy and mathematics were for cultivating talents with specialized skills, the Imperial College had relatively lower requirements for riding and archery for students in these academies. However, quite a number of students from these three academies still signed up, including many from foreign countries.

"The archery competition is divided into three rounds. The first round uses fixed targets. This round will select 100 students with excellent archery skills from all participating students. The second round uses moving targets. This round will select 10 students with outstanding archery skills from the 100 outstanding students. The third round uses flying targets. This round will be among the 100 outstanding students who will compete for the championship of this archery competition."

The students at the racecourse were all eager to try and were looking forward to the upcoming competition.

There were numbered plates with ten types of information, namely "A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, R, and G" placed at the entrance of the racecourse. Every student who entered the racecourse this morning drew a number plate at random.

Students who drew the same number plate were automatically divided into a group in the first round of archery competition. The first game adopted a circular shooting method. Once they missed the target, they were eliminated, and the process continued until there were ten people left in the group.

The difficulty will increase with each cycle. The shooting distance will increase by ten steps from the initial fifty steps with each cycle, which makes the competition more interesting.

When Ye Changyan entered the venue, he drew the number plate "Gui", Liang Jingcheng drew the number plate "Geng", Ao Chong'an and Fan Tao drew the same number plate "Yi", and Lu Xiaotong drew the number plate "Wu".

With the sound of a crisp gong, the first round of archery competition officially began.

There were forty fixed targets placed on the racecourse, divided into two competition areas. Two groups of students with number plates A and B started the competition at the same time.

Perhaps because it was the first group to compete in the first round, many students were very nervous. In the first round of the fifty-step fixed target competition, nearly half of the students missed the target.

The crowd watching the scene sighed with regret when they saw the students missing their targets one by one, and the dignitaries in the stands shook their heads when they saw the students' level, as if they were somewhat disappointed.

When the officials in charge of the Imperial College saw the expressions of the dignitaries in the stands, they also became nervous.

In the past, students trained very hard in the Imperial College, but when they were taken to the competition arena, they made a fool of themselves, which made the officials of the Imperial College feel a little embarrassed.

The students participating in the second round retreated to the 60-step line. Perhaps the first round screened out most of the students with poor shooting skills, or perhaps after the first round of shooting, the second round was not as tense as before, and only a few students were eliminated in the second round.

In the third and fourth rounds, not too many students were eliminated. But when the students stood at the 100-step line, the number of eliminated students suddenly increased.

When Group A reached the 120-step line, only ten people were left who advanced, while Group B reached the 130-step line in the ninth round before ten outstanding students were selected to advance.

For the first time, warm applause broke out in the stands, and the crowd watching outside the racecourse also gave the first warm cheer of the whole audience.

Ao Chong'an and Fan Tao, who were assigned to Group B, both advanced successfully after fierce competition in this game.

The competition between Group C and Group D also began with the sound of a crisp gong.

With groups A and B taking the lead, the competition between groups C and D was indeed much better than that of groups A and B at the beginning. No one from group D was eliminated in the first and second rounds.

The competition between Groups C and D was much more intense than the previous two groups, but also when it came to the sixth round, that is, outside the 100-step line, the number of eliminated people also increased sharply.

In the end, both groups were the same as Group B. In the ninth round, ten outstanding students advanced to the next round in their respective groups.

In the following Group Wu Ji competition, Lu Xiaotong easily advanced in the eighth round.

Accompanied by the crisp sound of gongs, the next groups to compete were Geng and Xin.

Liang Jingcheng was assigned to the "Geng" group. Liang Jingcheng performed stably and almost hit the bull's eye in the first six rounds. In the seventh round, due to a light breeze blowing at the scene, Liang Jingcheng deviated slightly from the bull's eye, but the arrow still penetrated the target vertically.

It was precisely because of this sudden gust of wind that many people deviated from the target. More than half of the people who entered the seventh round missed the target. In the end, both the Geng and Xin groups competed in the eighth round and advanced to the next round with ten outstanding students from their respective groups.

"Boring~"

With the sound of a clear gong, the competition between the last two groups is about to begin.

Ye Changyan, who drew the number "Gui", was assigned to the shooting range on the right. Ye Changyan selected a bow that suited his strength from the arrow rack, then stood on the shooting range and prepared for the competition.

Ye Changyan was in the third row of the Gui group. Just when the first two rows were competing, the wind started to blow again. Under the influence of this gust of wind, sixteen of the forty people in the first two rows were directly eliminated.

When it was the turn of Ye Changyan and others in the third row to stand at the 50-meter line, Ye Changyan took a deep breath. He felt the hair on his forehead fluttering in the wind. Ye Changyan thought, the other four of the five members of Guozi Tiangang have all advanced, so he won't be eliminated in the first round.

Ye Changyan did not look at the shooting of the people next to him. He adjusted his mentality and carefully felt the wind direction. When he felt the hair on his forehead falling down, Ye Changyan decisively released his hand that was pulling the bowstring.

With a "swoosh" sound, Ye Changyan saw his arrow flying out and hitting the target straight in the air. Although it was a little off the center of the target, at least it hit the target.

Among the twenty people who were shooting in Ye Changyan's group, eleven of them missed the target in the first round and were eliminated.
