Because of this, the coke oven project of the steel plant has gathered the elite forces of the Coke and Refractory Institute and the Thermal Engineering Station, with the goal of developing a new type of ramming coke oven with more than 45 holes.

The team has been formed for some time, but there has not been much breakthrough so far.

This is how technological research and development works. Sometimes, even if you invest more than ten years, you may not necessarily see any progress.

Since the development of the 36-hole ramming coke oven more than a decade ago, the relevant technology has basically stagnated. Currently, there is only one large-scale ramming coke oven in China, and most of the others are traditional top-loading coke ovens.

This is certainly influenced by the external environment, but it also shows that current research has reached a bottleneck period.

Now, let alone innovation, even replicating the existing 36-hole tamping coke oven is difficult, not to mention building larger and more efficient equipment. Although the problem can be solved sooner or later, the most critical thing is that time is too tight.

The R&D team gave two suggestions, one of which was to learn coking technology from foreign countries.

The other is to improve the technology of 36-hole top-loading coke ovens during the construction process, make up for the shortcomings through output, and continue to promote the research and development of ramming coke ovens.

The biggest difference between top-charging coke ovens and ramming coke ovens is that the former must use high-quality coal to produce qualified coke.

The latter mainly utilizes various low-quality coals and increases the density of coal blocks through special processing methods, thereby producing higher quality coke. This is obviously more suitable for the domestic situation. After all, although the country has abundant coal resources, most of them are low-end coal.

This is why ramming coke ovens have become a core research and development goal.

As for the lack of progress of this project, the person who is most anxious is none other than Director Yang, who is in charge of the coke oven project.

Building a top-loading coke oven is definitely not an option, as it completely goes against the original plan.

As for introducing foreign technology, it would require a large amount of foreign exchange, which was an unacceptable option for the country at that time.

Recently, Director Yang decided to compromise and discussed with relevant departments, planning to build a 36-hole ramming coke oven first.

With past experience, it is not difficult to restart this research and development.

As for asking He Yuzhu to help find the drawings, Director Yang no longer had much hope.
