Chapter 713: Is Oberon worthy?

The people present felt as if they were there. Through the window, the bright moonlight shone onto the bed, bringing the chill of the autumn night.

At first glance in the hazy light, everyone, in their dazed and confused mood, really seemed to see a layer of thick white frost on the ground; but when they looked again, the surrounding environment told them that it was not frost marks, but moonlight.

The watery moonlight inevitably attracted everyone to look up. A beautiful white moon was hanging high in front of the window, so bright and cold.

An inexplicable feeling touched everyone, making them feel the desolation and loneliness of living in a foreign land, as well as the feeling of time passing by. Gazing at the bright moon, everyone couldn't help but think of everything in their hometown and their loved ones at home.

As they thought about it, everyone in the room gradually lowered their heads, completely immersed in thought.

After a while, the divine power gradually dissipated, and everyone came out of their trance.

Vice Dean Jenny sighed softly and said with emotion: "It's terrible. These words seem to have a mysterious power. They can bring me into the situation in the poem and affect my mood."

"What beautiful words!" Agatha's eyes sparkled with excitement, and her eyes were full of love and obsession with this new kind of words.

Michelle stared at Merlin closely, her eyes full of confusion. She really couldn't understand where Merlin got this magical text from.

The three alchemy masters, Harrington, Gust, and Kelvin, looked at Merlin with complicated expressions.

They never imagined that Merlin actually had such an amazing thing in his hands.

Merlin looked at everyone with a sharp gaze and said, "Now the biggest problem before us has been solved. This is the writing of the Oberon civilization. What do you think?"

Vice Dean Jenny was silent for a moment, then frowned slightly and said, "Is the Oberon civilization worthy? Is it worthy of using this kind of writing? This writing contains such powerful appeal and unique charm. It seems far beyond the capacity of the suspected fabricated Oberon civilization."

Michelle interjected, "Although writing already exists, creating a civilization without being discovered is a massive undertaking, requiring extensive preparation. A civilization requires more than just writing; it also requires brilliant cultural treasures, unique magical techniques, distinctive artistic styles, and even a complete social system and historical heritage. All of these elements are essential; otherwise, it would be easily discovered."

Harrington stroked his chin and pondered, "Indeed, taking magical skills as an example, we must create a unique set of magical theories and methods that belong to the Oberon civilization. It cannot be too similar to existing magic systems, and it must have a reasonable inheritance lineage, so that people can feel that this is the magical power of an independently developed civilization."

Gust continued, "There's also the artistic style. Every artistic field, from painting to sculpture to architecture, must possess distinct Oberonian characteristics. Painting, for example, must have unique brushstrokes, color usage, and themes; sculpture must have distinctive shapes and craftsmanship; and architecture must be unique, from its exterior to its interior structure, instantly recognizing it as unique to Oberonian civilization."

Kelvin Rhodes nodded in agreement. "The social system shouldn't be underestimated either. From the lifestyles and professional divisions of ordinary people to the structure and power distribution of the ruling class, everything needs to be carefully designed. Furthermore, all of this must conform to the background and development history of the Oberon civilization we've envisioned, without any logical loopholes."

Elsa pondered and said, "As for cultural treasures, in addition to poetry, we also have to have unique music and dance forms, as well as myths and heroic legends passed down orally."

Agatha added: "Historical heritage is also crucial. We have to invent a plausible history of Oberon civilization, from its origin, development, prosperity to decline, with corresponding events, people and cultural characteristics to support each stage, just like a real civilization that has survived through the ages."

Yuna also expressed her opinion: "Commercial trade is also an important part of civilization. We need to build Oberon civilization's unique trade network, commodity types, and transaction methods. This will not only enrich the content of the civilization, but also reflect the level of its economic development from the side."

Stacy nodded and said, "That's right. Moreover, all these elements must echo and relate to each other to form an organic whole. Only in this way can we create a convincing Oberon civilization."

Everyone was talking at once in the heated discussion. The more they talked, the more things needed to be prepared, and everyone felt the increasing pressure on their shoulders.

From the unique construction of magical skills, to the comprehensive shaping of artistic style, to the careful establishment of the social system and the meticulous fabrication of historical heritage, every aspect is like an arduous project, which makes people feel daunted.

Merlin listened to the group's discussion, feeling his head nearly explode. He quickly raised his hand, signaling, "Stop! If we do what you're saying, the workload will be unimaginably massive, and we won't be able to complete it. Actually, we don't need to do this. We just need to present a vague image of the Oberon civilization to people."

Everyone turned their puzzled glances to Merlin. He cleared his throat and continued, "You know, Oberon civilization is an unknown number of years away. It's perfectly normal for gaps to appear over such a long period of time. What we need to do is maintain its mystery and ambiguity, like looking at flowers in the fog—you can see them but can't grasp them."

He paused briefly, glanced around at the crowd, and continued, "Furthermore, if we really went into every detail, it would seem too contrived and false. After all, true history always leaves many gaps and mysteries due to the erosion of time. We should take advantage of this and create an Oberon civilization that seems both real and fantastical, which will make it more convincing."

The others then realized what was happening and after thinking about it carefully, they realized that this was indeed the case.

An overly detailed and perfect "civilization" is contrary to historical common sense. Retaining some ambiguity and unknowns can better create the mysterious atmosphere that an ancient civilization should have.

Merlin looked at everyone with a determined gaze and spoke methodically, "I intend to announce that the remains of the Oberon civilization have been discovered in the Leo family's territory. Of course, these remains didn't just appear out of thin air; they required the concerted efforts of all of us to create them."
