HP Shavings Wizard

Chapter 393 Resign and Run Away

It’s terrible. Some people are already resigning and running away.

Although in the face of major threats, with Dumbledore's prestige and rule, Hogwarts is absolutely as solid as a rock, and everyone except Slytherin can fight against the guys who invade the school.

But this is a high-paying job hunting...

The one who ran away first was both unexpected and reasonable.

It was Slughorn.

Alison once casually persuaded the old walrus to research some potions that could enhance the power of magic. In the past two years, the old walrus had a great luck and really researched out the original ultimate potion, which even made the front page of the Daily Prophet.

I would see him occasionally. Apart from attending classes, he even reduced the frequency of the Slug Club's gatherings, only organizing some larger gatherings. He spent the rest of his time concentrating on studying how to turn the temporary effects of the potion into permanent ones.

As Hogwarts gradually integrated into the international community, the professors were responsible for guiding the Muggle community's magical education and emerging industries. When they were free, they would squeeze out time to answer questions.

It was at this time that Hogwarts was pried away.

What’s even more abominable is that the people who are trying to steal students from their alma mater are former students!

Is this right?

Not only did he not give back to his alma mater, but he actually poached teachers from his alma mater?!

After resigning and running away, Slughorn didn't mind explaining (and showing off) to Dumbledore about his experience of being poached.

"My former student, the one from the Selwyn family - maybe you still remember him, Albus? That happened more than 30 years ago..."

"He has now cooperated with several other companies to open a potion factory, and it has been approved by the Ministry of Magic... I am really happy to see that he is as energetic as he was when he was in school. The wizarding world has changed so much in the past few years, and it is difficult for everyone to sit at home and do nothing..."

Slughorn seemed to be feeling a little emotional.

Even though he sometimes still has some old-fashioned stereotypes, he is one of the "trendsetters" who actively embraces these changes and is willing to benefit from and seize opportunities.

Thinking of the newly-won Order of Merlin, First Class, the old walrus' heart was filled with excitement, and some dormant thoughts were ready to move.

"This year he invited me to go there and take a look and get some pointers. After all, it was about potions, so I went. When I got there, he directly gave me a box of various well-packed potion materials - you know, he is always so enthusiastic and considerate - but the dilemma is also obvious: there is a shortage of materials in the wizarding world recently, and mass production can only import some ordinary materials from the Muggle world, but the quality of those materials is a bit weird..."

Alison suspected that the cunning guy in his words had a master behind him - maybe a black-hearted fox in the Muggle world. After all, even the self-proclaimed elegant and noble Slytherin in the wizarding world often did not speak so appropriately and directly.

What does Slughorn like? One is money, the other is relationships, including investing in qualified future elites and making friends with people from all walks of life now.

"It's obvious that an ordinary novice can't tell the difference. Even a master has to carefully distinguish materials that look the same but have different properties. He's been really distressed recently and can't find anyone, so he came to me, his teacher, for help. We've also communicated with the Muggle world, and they're just waiting for the potion... I really can't leave him alone."

"... and the channels for the manufacture and distribution of various potions... He hopes that I will join that unprecedented plan, and for this, several companies have discussed and are even willing to give me 30% directly."

Slughorn stretched out his fat finger, made a three sign, and looked very proud with a smug smile.

"As for Miss Grindelwald's ultimate potion... I will not give up on researching it. This is a major matter concerning all wizards. But the issue of materials is equally important. We can't make something that cannot be popularized..."

Having said that, Slughorn was very disciplined and resigned at the end of the school year, so Dumbledore had no reason to stop him - after all, he was given a summer vacation to recruit a new person to take over the Potions class.

However, given the current labor shortage situation where high salaries are being offered everywhere, it would be best to recruit elites in the industry for professorial positions at Hogwarts - don't mention Lockhart, at least his resume of adventure novels is pretty impressive.

It can be seen that after seeing off his old colleague with a smile, Dumbledore's expression had become visibly worried, and the smile disappeared from his face.

Fortunately, apart from this weak-willed professor who was poached, the other professors remained at their posts and did not waver.

Alison originally suspected that Professor Trelawney would run away. After all, her colleagues were always skeptical about this "prophet", and the emotional value in the environment was not high - but could it be that Trelawney's crazy state scared away the guy who came to interview and poach her?

It is not something you can ask for a salary increase casually. Hogwarts is just an ordinary educational institution that receives funding and donations from all sides, and the tuition is still free!

Some people do have some extra money, but they cannot compete with other merchants and raise prices. If wages are raised under this trend and then reduced in the future, that would be even more annoying.

Dumbledore, who always appeared optimistic and positive, as if he didn't care about any difficulties, was also a little embarrassed. He didn't care about Alison who was still poking his beard out of boredom. After thinking for a while, he took out a piece of parchment and wrote a letter to his old student Severus.

Severus: You remember me now?

A few days later, there was another bad news: Snape replied coldly, saying that he refused to continue teaching the trolls.

Dumbledore closed his eyes peacefully.

Ruined.

He does have a wide network of contacts. Many people in the wizarding world are his old colleagues and students, so he can more or less establish some kind of relationship with them and have some face.

But now, the fruit of face is no longer useful in the trend of the times.

According to the old principal's occasional correspondence with old friends, everyone has their own work arrangements, some are busy making money, and no one has time.

His own members of the Order of the Phoenix also had their own jobs, and their quality was uneven. It was okay for them to fight, but it was a bit difficult to teach them.

The saints were basically assigned work to help coordinate the Muggle and wizarding worlds and promote integration between the two. The work over there was more important and they couldn't get away from it.

Without any imminent life-threatening danger like Voldemort, the old headmaster would rather find a good professor so that the animals in Hogwarts will be able to seize opportunities and live a better life in the future.

Moreover, Hogwarts now has frequent exchanges with magic schools in various places. If a rubbish teacher really comes out, the shame will be brought abroad.
