Quick Wear: Cousin, Come to the Bowl Quickly

Chapter 98 The CEO’s Cousin in a Workplace Story (1)

Ye Huai opened his eyes again because he was awakened by someone.

The person was half leaning over him, and the light above her head was blocked by her, so Ye Huai couldn't see her face clearly at first.

The man stretched out a warm hand and gently stroked the loose hair on his forehead. The voice was as light as a feather, softly falling into Ye Huai's ears, making Ye Huai feel as if he had returned to his childhood.

Whenever Chu Kuo was not at home, Ye Zhenqi would calm down, without those hysterical yells and pulling. She was a very gentle person most of the time. Even though her heart was broken, she would still try her best to give all the little tenderness left in her heart to Ye Huai when it came to her own children.

When the weather was fine, she would take Ye Huai to the garden, cut flowers covered with morning dew and put them in a vase. She would also hold little Ye Huai in her arms and coax him to sleep on moonlit nights, humming a gentle lullaby, "The evening breeze blows gently, the moon smiles slightly, I use my hands as a cradle, and gently rock my little baby..."

It was such a distant memory, but when Ye Huai thought about it now, it was still vivid. The warm touch on his forehead made him feel moist in the corners of his eyes. He opened his mouth and wanted to say something.

"Cousin, get up and eat something. After eating and taking medicine, you can rest." Lin Xi's voice was very soft, but it instantly brought Ye Huai back to reality from his hazy memories.

Seeing that he had opened his eyes, Lin Xi breathed a sigh of relief, a hint of worry appeared on her face. She reached out and gently pressed his lower abdomen, her voice so soft that it seemed like water was about to drip out, "Does your stomach still hurt?"

It was hot in the summer, and Ye Huai was still wearing the white shirt he had worn in the morning. When Lin Xi pressed her hand on him, he felt her scorching temperature pass through the thin fabric to the skin of his abdomen, and he subconsciously shrank back.

It was a tiny movement but Lin Xi caught it instantly. She thought Ye Huai was still feeling very uncomfortable, so her tone suddenly became a little anxious, "What? Are you still feeling uncomfortable? If you feel too uncomfortable, let's go to the hospital."

After saying that, he stood up and prepared to take out his phone to make a call. As he turned around, he felt someone grabbing his wrist. Ye Huai's weak voice came from behind him, "No need, I'm much better."

Ye Huai's fingers touched and released her hand the moment Lin Xi turned around again. He looked calmly at Lin Xi who was looking down at him.

"That's good, that's good. Do you have strength now? I'll help you up to eat something, take some medicine and then rest." Lin Xi was stunned at first, and then she reached out to help him up.

Ye Huai subconsciously wanted to say that he didn't want to eat, but when the words came to his lips, he swallowed them, shook his head gently, indicating that he didn't need help, and supported himself to sit up.

Seeing that he was indeed much better, Lin Xi pulled her pink apron and went into the kitchen. Ye Huai looked at the clock on the wall which was already past three o'clock, then looked at her busy back. He lowered his head and was stunned for a while. Suddenly, he remembered the breakfast he had thrown away in anger that morning. He did not go out today, so he naturally did not pick up the garbage, so the food should still be lying in the trash can.

Recalling the tired look on Lin Xi's brow just now, he couldn't help but pursed his lips and regretted his impulsiveness for the first time. When Lin Xi came out with the small cup, he looked ashamed and opened his mouth, wanting to say something.

But Lin Xi seemed to have noticed nothing, and still had a gentle smile on her face, which was no different from the one he had seen every day in the past month. "Cousin, come quickly. I have been cooking this porridge for a long time. Now the temperature is just right."

Ye Huai lowered his eyes, walked silently to the table and sat down, looking at the meat porridge with a light pink color in the small bowl, and then glanced at Lin Xi who was sitting opposite him and talking and laughing. He felt as if his eyes were also a little sore because of the dense aroma.

By the time Lin Xi finished cleaning up, it was already four o'clock in the morning. Even though she was always energetic, she couldn't help yawning. She watched Ye Huai finish his medicine, and then urged him to go upstairs to rest.

Ye Huai climbed up the stairs, but suddenly stopped halfway, looked at Lin Xi who was on the other staircase and said, "I'm sorry for today, I..."

Before he could finish his words, he was interrupted by Lin Xi, "Cousin, we are family, and there is no need to say sorry between family members."

Ye Huai looked into her eyes. Those clear pupils seemed to contain countless emotions, yet seemed to contain nothing. However, unlike his slightly evasive gaze, Lin Xi's gaze did not shift at all from beginning to end, and there was determination in her eyes when she looked at him.

It was a dreamless night. Perhaps because he stayed up too late last night, Ye Huai slept until the sun was high in the sky before waking up slowly. He opened his eyes drowsily and glanced at his phone, and found that it was already ten o'clock in the morning. He lay in bed, his head still a little dizzy, and after letting his mind go blank for a while, he slowly got up.

I thought Lin Xi must have gone out by now, but when Ye Huai stepped onto the stairs and prepared to go downstairs, he saw Lin Xi sitting on the sofa in the living room. She was wearing a beige casual suit, holding a book, leaning lazily on the sofa and flipping through it. When she heard footsteps, she turned her head and looked at Ye Huai, with her usual bright smile on her face, "Good morning, cousin."

Ye Huai seemed to be infected by such a bright smile. A rare smile appeared on his usually cold face. He said in a low voice, "Good morning."

After going downstairs, Lin Xi brought him breakfast as usual. Ye Huai looked at the food on the table which was exactly the same as yesterday. He was stunned for a moment, then looked at Lin Xi who was sitting opposite him. As expected, he saw a smirk flashing across her face. For some reason, his heart suddenly trembled, and his originally depressed mood suddenly became clear. His ears turned slightly red, and he resignedly finished all the food on the plate.

Lin Xi was worried about Ye Huai's health and afraid that he would be angry and not eat, so she took a day off to watch over him. After Ye Huai finished eating and cleaned up the kitchen, she pulled him to sit on the sofa while Ye Huai avoided her gaze and prepared to have an adult conversation with him.

"Cousin, tell me, why didn't you eat yesterday?" Lin Xi sat at one end of the sofa, folded his arms, frowned slightly, with a rare serious expression on his face, staring at Ye Huai opposite him, waiting for his answer.
