Lin Xi had just climbed the stairs and turned the corner when she saw two people not far away.

Lin Xi stood behind Chai Jing. Due to the angle, she couldn't see He Yanyang's figure clearly, but when she saw Chai Jing's fist raised high, she instantly understood what he was going to do. Her face turned pale and she screamed in surprise.

In a flash, Chai Jing felt someone push him from behind, and then his eyes blurred, and a thin figure appeared between him and He Yanyang.

Lin Xi opened her arms to block He Yanyang. Seeing the fist with a sound of breaking through the air about to fall on her, Lin Xi's face turned pale and she closed her eyes subconsciously.

All the unexpected changes happened in just a few breaths. When He Yanyang, who was stunned for a moment by Lin Xi's scream, came to his senses, there was already another person in front of him.

When he saw clearly the figure who was protecting him, his pupils suddenly shrank and his body reacted before his consciousness.

He Yanyang suddenly stretched out his hand and pressed the man into his arms. Then he exerted force with his feet, turned his body, and planned to use his back to withstand the punch.

However, before he could completely turn his body, Chai Jing's fist had already landed, gnawing his cheekbone and knocking his head to the side.

"Well!"

He Yanyang groaned, staggered two steps with Lin Xi in his arms, then reached out to hold the railing and managed to steady himself.

Lin Xi had prepared herself to be punched, but the expected pain did not come. With her eyes closed, she only felt someone tug at her shoulder and her body turned in another direction.

Before she opened her eyes to see what was happening, she felt someone pressing the back of her head, and then her vision went dark and her whole face was buried in warmth.

The boy's chest was rising and falling violently, with a scalding temperature, mixed with the smell of laundry detergent that was warmed by his heat, going straight into her nostrils, causing Lin Xi's brain to freeze for a moment as she closed her eyes. Her ears seemed to be infected by his heat and quickly turned red.

It was not until she heard He Yanyang's suppressed groan above her head that she suddenly came to her senses. She hurriedly raised her head from his chest and spoke anxiously.

"He Yanyang! Are you okay?!"

He Yanyang grinned, affecting the half of his face that was hit by Chai Jing. He hissed in pain, but when he looked down and saw Lin Xi's face full of anxious worry, he subconsciously shook his head and said, "It's okay" while enduring the pain.

Lin Xi looked at the blood coming out of the corner of his mouth. Half of his face was red, especially his cheekbones, which were slightly purple. Her eyes instantly turned red.

"You've been beaten like this, and you still say you're fine!"

After saying that, she wanted to reach out and touch his face, but He Yanyang turned his head away.

Lin Xi gritted her teeth, pushed him away, and angrily wanted to question the culprit who beat him up like this.

"Officer Chai, how could you beat someone up like that—hiss."

Lin Xi originally wanted to question Chai Jing, but when she saw the man's appearance clearly, she couldn't help but gasp, and the question that she had originally intended to ask was suddenly stuck in her throat.
