God's Gift
Chapter 529 Snatching
Lu Keming's pupils dilated slightly as he looked at the teddy bear atop the fish's back. Without thinking, he reached out to take Pupu back from the fish's back.
But this fish was faster. It turned around in the water, shook off the pufferfish on its back, quickly grabbed it in its mouth, and swam away in a flash.
All that remained for Lu Keming was his receding figure.
Lu Keming's chest heaved slightly as he gazed at the fish's silhouette, remaining lost in thought for a long time.
Pupu must have fallen into this sea with him and was picked up by this fish.
Thinking of the fish's appearance, Lu Keming frowned slightly.
So he was being spied on by this fish for so long?
He looked out to sea beyond the shipwreck. The sun should be shining brightly on the surface, casting clear, azure light into the ocean.
Schools of fish swim in the sea, colorful corals dye the seabed in vibrant hues, and various small creatures occasionally pass by among the corals. The soft tentacles of sea anemones extend outwards, and several clownfish roll around inside them.
Lu Keming had another question in his mind.
What on earth is this place?
He looked again in the direction the fish had gone, but it had long since vanished without a trace.
Lu Keming didn't know if it would ever come back. If it didn't, and he was stuck on the boat, how could he get Bubu back for Youyou?
Lu Keming's brows furrowed slightly.
As he was deep in thought, the sharks that had been waiting outside silently entered the wreck and swam quickly toward him.
The subtle change in the water flow made Lu Keming raise his eyes. Before the shark behind him could bite him, he raised his hand and conjured a dagger, then threw it behind him.
The sharp psychic dagger easily sliced the shark in two, and the bright red blood instantly spread in the seawater, quickly attracting a school of carnivorous fish from the surrounding area.
They tore at the shark's body, and in no time they had gnawed the shark's remains down to a skeleton.
Lu Keming looked at the pile of dead fish in the corner of the cabin, which were now being devoured by sharks and other small fish that had surged in.
He narrowed his eyes, a hint of confusion appearing in them.
Just now, these fish didn't dare to approach the shipwreck...
Before Lu Keming could figure out the reason, the strange fish that had just left returned. It looked at the fish that had been eaten clean and raised its back fins high.
It seemed very angry, but dared not approach Lu Keming, so it could only angrily circle around in place a few times while holding Pupu in its mouth.
Lu Keming stared at the poop in its mouth, his eyes narrowed, and his brain worked quickly.
How can he trick it into giving him back?
But because of Lu Keming's action of snatching Pupu earlier, the fish seemed to be wary of him.
It noticed that Lu Keming was staring at the pupu in its mouth, and bared its teeth menacingly at Lu Keming, biting the pupu even tighter.
Lu Keming looked at the dented wound on Bubu and quickly looked away. He stopped staring at Bubu, afraid that it might accidentally damage it.
The fish relaxed then, but still stayed at a distance from the boat, refusing to enter the cabin.
Looking at the fish outside the sunken ship, Lu Keming felt a headache coming on. He raised his hand to press his temples, his gaze peeking through his fingers at the pupu in the fish's mouth, and he fidgeted with his fingers in a bit of anxiety.
Once the dead fish in the boat had been eaten, the swarming fish dispersed.
A great white shark swam past the strange fish.
It looked at the great white shark, who had eaten and drunk its fill, and angrily flicked its tail, slapping the great white shark on the back, making it roll around in the water several times.
After the great white shark swam away in a daze, it calmed down and quickly glanced back with its huge eyes.
Seeing that Lu Keming was still staring at it, it raised its head, wagged its tail, and swam to the side as if nothing had happened.
It placed the pup on the sand, swayed its tail, and circled the pup several times, then tossed it up and caught it again, having a great time playing by itself.
Soon the fish forgot about Lu Keming.
There is always a group of small fish around it, and the fish swim around it whenever it moves.
As Lu Keming stared at this strange scene, an indescribable emotion welled up inside him.
Is this fish really the same dark figure he first saw?
He looked at the oval-shaped fish in front of him, which looked nothing like the huge black shadow with more than a dozen tentacles he had seen before.
He couldn't help but wonder, could there be another monster in this shipwreck?
While Lu Keming was pondering, the strange fish outside the shipwreck quickly got tired of playing. Lu Keming watched it swim to the seaweed thicket nearby, pick up the tip of a seaweed leaf with its mouth, turn around twice, and tie itself to the seaweed.
The sun's rays slanted down, casting shadows and seaweed shadows that were refracted onto the hull by the glass bottles scattered at the bottom of the ship.
A huge, dark shadow with several "arms" appeared.
Lu Keming opened his mouth, staring speechlessly at the dark figure, and after a long while, he chuckled without a word.
Hearing his laughter, the fish glanced at him strangely, then quickly closed its eyes and fell into a deep sleep.
A few seconds later, it spat out a string of bubbles and emitted a muffled purring sound from its body.
The sound was exactly the same as the terrifying sounds Lu Keming had heard in the shipwreck over the past few days.
Lu Keming couldn't help but twitch his lips as he thought about how he had been on high alert for this fish these past few days, treating it as an extremely dangerous sea monster.
He sat down, his gaze fixed on the fish, until it woke up again as darkness fell.
Lu Keming glanced at the fish, a dark glint flashing in his eyes. He smiled enigmatically, then slowly closed his eyes.
After a while, the seawater began to ripple, and sure enough, the little fish swam over with a soft rustling sound.
Its gaze remained fixed on him, curiously examining the items on his person. After a while, it looked at the ring on Lu Keming's hand and tentatively took his hand into its mouth again.
The instant it took its mouth in his, Lu Keming immediately opened his eyes and swiftly grabbed the poop that was placed to the side.
The fish then realized that it had been deceived by the man in front of it.
It instinctively opened its mouth to snatch the puff from Lu Keming's hand, but Lu Keming was faster and easily dodged its attempt.
The fish tried to snatch the fish several times but failed each time. Looking at the fish, which was being held in Lu Keming's hand, it slowly stopped wagging its tail and floated blankly in place.
After a while, it blinked twice, its two large black eyes revealing a pitiful look, staring at Lu Keming without moving.
It seemed that if Lu Keming didn't return it, it would burst into tears.
Lu Keming felt a strange sensation under that gaze, and almost without thinking, he began to explain to the fish in front of him:
"this is mine."
Just when Lu Keming thought he was talking to a brick wall, the fish in front of him suddenly opened its mouth and said in a childish and stuttering voice, "It's mine!"
"No, no... I found it."
Its indistinct words reached Lu Keming's ears. He looked at the little fish in front of him that was speaking human language, and suddenly the string in his mind snapped.
After a long silence, Lu Keming heard his own trembling voice:
"May I have your name?"
