God's Gift
Chapter 508 Cannibalization
Dark Star held his breath, staring intently at Yu Youyou, as if eagerly awaiting her answer.
Yu Youyou, however, never looked at it. Her gaze remained fixed on Lu Keming, her dark eyes reflecting his features like a deep, still lake.
After a long silence, Dark Star finally realized something. Its expression gradually turned cold, and it abruptly withdrew its hand.
"You still haven't given up?"
As it spoke, the people who had been watching Yu Youyou intently from behind swarmed towards her after confirming that neither she nor Lu Keming were able to move.
They pounced on Yu Youyou, tearing at her hair and biting at her flesh.
Dark Star took a step back, watching expressionlessly as Yu Youyou was devoured by humans.
"Since you're still not awake, I'll just have to let you experience their pain too."
Dark Star's voice, filled with hatred, watched Yu Youyou being torn apart:
"Like them, they witnessed firsthand how the people they risked their lives to protect were skinned alive, drunk their blood, and ate their own flesh."
Dark Star looked at Yu Youyou, who still showed no reaction, and sneered coldly:
"Anyway, these humans can't kill you."
"Only when you personally experience this pain will you understand that what you truly need is me."
Yu Youyou was still watching Lu Keming as he was pushed to the ground by the crowd, raising a cloud of dust.
His beautiful, hollow face was buried in the dust, and his blood-stained hair fell down to the sides of his face, obscuring his eyes so that Yu Youyou could no longer see his face clearly.
Yu Youyou rolled her eyes and stared blankly at the gray-blue sky.
Thick, dark clouds made the sky as dark as night, and the sparks flying in the air were like stars in the night sky, just like the stars that Yu Youyou saw with her parents on the sea when she was a little fish.
How beautiful those times were.
She thought every day would be like that from then on.
The sky will be filled with twinkling stars, the distant sound of ship horns will drift in, and the sea breeze will ruffle Mother's long hair. She will float at Mother's feet, drifting off to sleep with the joy of the whole day, eagerly anticipating tomorrow.
This beautiful, almost illusory memory brought a slight smile to Yu Youyou's lips.
But blood kept gushing from her mouth, and the backflowing blood blocked her airway, causing her to cough incessantly.
A raindrop fell on her face.
Soon, a torrential downpour began.
The human tore at Yu Youyou's arm, its sharp teeth biting open several wounds on her remaining arm. Warm blood gushed from the wounds, and the human clung to them like leeches, sucking her blood.
Someone reached into her pierced chest, pulled out her shattered heart, and excitedly held it high.
Bright red blood dripped from the still-beating heart, and several people lay prostrate beneath it, using their tongues to catch the dripping blood.
Soon, people rushed to grab her heart, fighting each other and hurling the most disgusting curses at each other.
Until the heart rolled to the ground because of their scramble, the person who first pulled out the heart frantically bent down to look for it, only to be trampled underfoot by the crowded and frenzied mob.
He only managed to utter a cry of pain before his back was broken, and he fell into the mud, lifeless.
Even in his dying moments, his gaze remained fixed on the heart that had rolled into the crowd.
When someone dies, a new person quickly fills the vacancy.
They tore at Yu Youyou's muscles, pulled out her blood vessels, and painstakingly sucked blood from them.
Fang Ziang stared in horror at the scene. The bloody and cruel sight made his stomach churn, and he couldn't help but bend over and dry heave.
Tears mixed with acid fell to the ground. Fang Ziang turned to look at Yu Youyou, who was surrounded by the crowd, his lips trembling.
"Don't touch her, she's Yu Youyou."
Fang Ziang staggered to his feet. Dragging his aching legs, he picked up an iron rod from the side and dragged it to the back of the crowd.
Fang Ziang raised the iron rod high and smashed it down on the head of one of the men.
With a loud bang, blood splattered from the man's head. Fang Zi'ang watched him slowly fall, muttering to himself:
"Don't touch her...don't touch her..."
He looked at the crowd still devouring Yu Youyou, and wildly swung the iron rod in his hand, repeatedly hitting them, his hoarse voice growing louder:
Don't touch her!
After a brief moment of stunned silence, Ye Li and Shen Minghua ran to Yu Youyou's side and fired their guns at the humans who were approaching Yu Youyou like zombies.
No matter how many people they knocked down, these people, like madmen, recklessly pounced on Yu Youyou.
The rain grew heavier and heavier, and the raindrops gently fell on Yu Youyou's face, like a soft caress from the sky.
The rain washed away the blood from Yu Youyou's body. The humans on the outer edge crawled on the ground, licking the rainwater mixed with blood from the ground.
Not far away, Xiao Ou stared blankly at this scene. Before she knew it, her eyes were filled with tears, and warm tears kept rolling down her cheeks, disappearing into the mud along with the rain.
Her hands were clenched tightly, and the image of Yu Youyou being eaten was reflected in her brown irises.
Xiao Ou's chest heaved, and she opened her mouth, trembling, and cried out loudly.
The child's heart-wrenching cries pierced through the torrential rain and reached Yu Youyou's ears clearly.
Yu Youyou's eyes darted around, and she turned her head to look in the direction from which the crying was coming, where she saw Xiao Ou standing in the pouring rain, crying loudly.
Yu Youyou's dull eyes gradually brightened as she stared intently at Xiao Ou's trembling body, crying uncontrollably, and finally made a move.
She used her stumps to support herself, moved her body which had long since lost all sensation, and slowly crawled toward Xiao Ou.
The flesh on her only remaining leg had been completely devoured, leaving only stark white bone, while the crowd behind her continued to pull at her leg bone.
A hand grabbed Yu Youyou's head, its sharp nails digging into her eye sockets and gouging out her eyeballs.
But this did not stop Youyou's movements. She stared at Xiao'ou with her remaining right eye and continued to crawl towards Xiao'ou.
Dark Star seemed unable to bear watching this scene any longer and finally turned his face away.
"Give up, Oshi."
"You should have known about human nature long ago. Didn't you resent them just as much when they devoured other gods?"
Yu Youyou did not answer. Her damaged right eye only saw Xiao Ou's image. No matter what Anxing said in her ear, she remained silent.
She simply crawled silently and resolutely toward the direction of the little gull.
Until someone grabbed her hair, stopping her from crawling.
Yu Youyou struggled a few times, but the hand gripping her hair was so strong that it pulled her hair out by the roots and still wouldn't let go.
The sound of raindrops, like the ticking of an old clock, mingled with Xiao Ou's cries of bewilderment and fear, constantly pounding against Yu Youyou's eardrums and tearing at her nerves.
"Stop insisting, Oshi," Dark Star's voice persisted. "What's the point of you persisting like this?"
"Humans are so greedy and selfish that even if you are injured because of them, they will still eat you without hesitation."
"Do you also intend to be as stubbornly deluded as those fallen gods, ultimately dying by my hand while trying to protect these humans?"
Yu Youyou was still struggling, trying to get to Xiao Ou's side, but the person behind her was dragging her leg bones, preventing her from taking another step.
Dark Star's voice still echoed in her ears.
"Kill them..."
Yu Youyou kept her head down, her hands on the ground, her fingers digging tightly into the soil, the veins on the back of her hands showing through her effort.
Dark Star watched as Yu Youyou's fingernails dug deep into the soil, and continued to urge, "Kill them, Ou Xi. As long as you kill them, it will all be over."
Yu Youyou raised her head and looked at the crowd behind her. Blood kept flowing from her empty left eye socket, and her dark right eye stared at the humans dragging her.
A hint of hatred gradually emerged in that eye.
