Parental Love: Jiang Weimin's Life of Lying Down

Jiang Weimin sorted out Jiang Defu's deeds during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression by combining Jiang Defu's oral narration and archival materials.

After the July 1937 Incident in 11, Jiang Defu was influenced by revolutionary ideas and determined to fight against Japan and save the country. In November of the same year, he organized an "Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Group" in his village.

In early 1938, he joined the 14th Squadron of the Fifth Army of the Shandong People's Anti-Japanese National Salvation Army and joined the Communist Party of China in April of the same year. From then on, he embarked on the revolutionary road. He served as a soldier, platoon leader, company commander, and battalion commander of the Shandong Column of the Eighth Route Army.

He participated in the June 1939st mopping-up campaign in to crush the Japanese invaders.

In 1940, he participated in the "Tianzhuang Battle" in Zibo. He led a platoon to attack the enemy from behind and annihilated the reactionary leader Zhai Chao and his troops.

In the "Caijiazhuang Battle" in Mengyin in 1941, he took the lead in the attack and wiped out more than 100 puppet troops.

In 1942, the most difficult year of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he led his troops to fight actively under the leadership of his superiors and made contributions to breaking the division, blockade, mopping-up and encroachment of the Japanese, puppet and diehard forces.

In particular, in the successful Caijiazhuang offensive conducted by the Third Battalion of the Second Regiment of the Central Shandong Military Region in 1942, Jiang Defu was the company commander of the Eighth Company of the Third Battalion, responsible for the main attack mission. The Eighth Company set up a blasting group, a firepower cover group, and a transportation group, and successfully used explosives to blast the offensive, killing more than 100 enemies. Since then, the tactics of combining firepower with blasting, and blasting with assault have been continuously improved and gradually promoted throughout the army, becoming an important tactical means of our army.

From 1943 to 1945, he participated in the anti-mopping-up operations in the Luzhong District and Tai'an District, the Yishui offensive, the Gezhuang offensive, the Mengyin offensive, and the anti-Wu (Huawen) campaign.

Looking at Jiang Defu's deeds in the Anti-Japanese War, it is definitely exciting and thrilling. Moreover, Jiang Defu's combat methods have many similarities with the current special forces.

Therefore, Jiang Weimin decided to incorporate the concepts of special operations harassment, sabotage, assassination, kidnapping, reconnaissance behind enemy lines, and stealing intelligence into his father's war stories during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

China's first special forces was not successfully formed until 1988.

Jiang Weimin decided to combine the advanced mechanized special forces theory and air-ground integrated combat theory of the 80s in the comic strip in the later period of the War of Resistance Against Japan.

In the story of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, the United States was a world power. In this battle, it used a joint sea, land and air combat system, but was overwhelmed by my country's various tactics. Jiang Weimin hopes to incorporate the theory of joint sea, land and air combat into the comic strip from an objective perspective.

Finally, he also considered whether the theory of combining information warfare with precision strikes could be incorporated into it based on actual conditions.

Before the Gulf War, military powers represented by the Soviet Union and China were still at the stage of large-scale and deep combat, and their combat concepts still followed the thinking of World War II. The theories that Jiang Weimin wanted to incorporate were all advanced theories in the 80s.

Jiang Weimin wanted to use this comic strip to tell everyone that Jiang Defu's ideas were not old and outdated, and his fighting philosophy was always at the forefront of the times.

When Jiang Weimin was drawing "Big Knife King Tieshan", he suddenly felt that the progress was too slow and the special warfare concept might not be released before the arrival of the review team.

Jiang Weimin calculated that it would take him about two months to finish a comic book, plus another 2-3 months for printing and distribution. He also had to add the time it takes to ferment. He estimated that by the time the review team arrived, he could only publish 2-3 volumes. The key point was that the special forces team hadn't even been formed for the first three volumes.

At least the Special Operations Team's First Battle must be published before the review team arrives to spread the concept of special operations. Jiang Dehua is now three months pregnant, and there are still 3-8 months before the review team arrives. When Jiang Dehua appears in the play, she should have finished her confinement and the child can be taken out to play.

Jiang Weimin designed Jiang Defu's commando team as a pseudo special forces unit, combining the configuration of modern special forces to set the combat team to a size of 5-7 people.

Each team consists of a commander, a sniper (sometimes with an assistant), a demolitionist, a person responsible for cover or fire suppression, and 2-3 commandos.

In this way, the pseudo special forces team had Jiang Defu as the commander, Wang Tieshan as the attacker, and Tian Dayou as the suppressor, but they still lacked a sniper, an assaulter, and a demolitionist. (Grenade, explosive pack, mine, mortar are all proficient)

The assaulter can be replaced by an ordinary person, but the soul sniper and demolitionist of the pseudo special forces must be portrayed separately.

If both characters are portrayed and the pseudo special forces team's debut is included, it will take 6 months, and now "Big Knife Wang Tieshan" is not finished yet, so it will take 6 months even if the time is compressed.

Considering the time of printing and distribution, the review team might have just arrived and the book was just published, which certainly did not affect the review team. It is possible that Jiang Defu's reputation was a little bigger after the first two volumes were published.

At this moment, Jiang Weimin suddenly noticed Zhang Tianshui who was concentrating on painting. His eyes brightened instantly. Then, he stood up and slowly walked towards Zhang Tianshui.

"Brother Zhang, I'm sorry to interrupt you, but I have something I would like to trouble you for help with. Is that okay?" Jiang Weimin asked softly.

"Teacher Jiang, please just speak up!" Zhang Tianshui answered without hesitation.

"Brother Zhang, just call me Weimin. After you finish this work, I hope you can help me draw another story about the War of Resistance." Jiang Weimin looked at Zhang Tianshui expectantly.

"That's great, thank you Brother Zhang! You continue painting, and I will help you with some advice after you finish." Jiang Weimin said encouragingly.

"Okay, Teacher Jiang." Zhang Tianshui smiled and nodded in agreement.

"Don't call me teacher. You have taught me a lot. If you think it's not appropriate to call me Wei Min directly, how about calling me Brother Wei Min? This way it seems more intimate." Jiang Weimin suggested.

"That's fine, Brother Weimin."

Jiang Weimin likes Zhang Tianshui's cheerful and sunny personality and his high level of painting skills.

With Zhang Tianshui's help, Jiang Weimin felt more powerful and he was confident that he could complete four works in just five months.

The four works are "Big Knife Wang Tieshan", "Sharpshooter Mao Yu", "Demolition Man Zhang Dalei" and "Special Forces - Bravely Entering Yishui County".

Among them, the work "Demolition Man Zhang Dalei" required fewer storyboards, so Jiang Weimin decided to give the task entirely to Zhang Tianshui and asked him to help draw part of the story of "Special Forces - Bravely Entering Yishui County".

In this way, Jiang Weimin can concentrate on completing "Sharpshooter Mao Yu" first, and then work with Zhang Tianshui to draw "Special Forces - Bravely Entering Yishui County".

This division of labor and cooperation not only improves efficiency, but also gives full play to their respective strengths to ensure that every work can achieve the best quality.
