HP: Let professors walk towards the light
Chapter 72 Tom Riddle
"Water? Myrtle's bathroom was full of water that day, which means Granger also saw the reflection in the water?" Draco speculated.
"Yes, as long as you don't look directly into the basilisk's eyes, the most you will suffer is petrification, and Madam Pomfrey's antidote will be developed soon." Harry said.
"Wait, Harry, there seems to be something up ahead..." Ron said hoarsely, grabbing Harry's shoulders. Draco and the others quickly closed their eyes and lowered their heads.
Harry squinted and watched the huge, curved outline lying in the corner, motionless.
"No sound? Is it dead?" Draco asked with his eyes closed.
"Maybe he's asleep." Harry didn't know where he got the courage from. He walked forward slowly and observed carefully, for fear of waking up the remaining monster. He felt that his heart was about to jump out of his chest in the next second.
He thrust his wand forward.
The light streaked across a disgusting bright green. It was the skin of a giant python, reflecting a waxy luster, curled up and lying empty on the ground. The snake skin was at least twenty feet long.
"Eh—" Ron sighed deeply.
"It's just a snake slough," said Harry.
Suddenly, Lockhart's voice came from behind. Because his hands were tied, everyone put him at the end of the team, regardless of whether he followed or not. Lockhart had to follow them closely, after all, it would be more dangerous for him to stay or act alone.
Now, his knees were weak, he fell to the ground, begging, "Children, please, I beg you, I don't know where you got the courage from, but it's a basilisk, with such a big skin, who knows how big it is now, you are no match for it, let's go back, there will be others to solve this matter, hey... don't go... wait, wait."
Everyone didn't have time to listen to what he was saying and just walked forward. Before Lockhart could finish his words, he realized that the light source was getting farther and farther away from him, so he quickly got up and caught up with them.
"So much nonsense! If you want to leave, just go by yourself. Why are you following me? Coward!" Draco cursed in dissatisfaction.
After passing the snake skin and turning a series of corners, a solid wall suddenly appeared in front of everyone. The wall was carved with radial snake sculptures, with a huge snake head standing in the center. The snake's eyes were inlaid with dazzling emeralds, which had not faded at all due to the passage of time.
Harry walked forward, his throat itching. He stared into the lifelike eyes and spoke slowly. His voice was low and powerful, but to others it still sounded just a hiss.
I saw the wall gradually open up a crack to become a huge door, which opened slowly and quietly and smoothly.
"I think that's the Chamber of Secrets. You guys go in. I'd just be a hindrance if I go in my current state. I'd better find a corner and hide there by myself." Blaise said to Draco.
"Are you really okay?" Draco was a little worried.
"Don't worry, Master Malfoy. Even though I'm being supported, I can still run. Just don't lead the basilisk in front of me. And, don't forget me when you find the exit."
"Leina is right. Even if you die, you will still be stubborn." Draco rolled his eyes at him.
Blaise blinked, nudged Draco, and said, "Okay, go ahead and bring Reina out."
"Well...be careful." Draco nodded.
"Be careful." Theodore slowly let go of his hand and followed Draco.
"I...I'll go with you!" Lockhart said to Blaise, "I'll accompany you, you help me solve it, and I can protect you."
Blaise's face suddenly turned cold, and he looked at Lockhart coldly and ruthlessly: "Don't worry, I will settle the accounts between us after we get out. Now, you'd better get out of here. After all, if my mother accidentally sends you to Azkaban one day, your lovely fans will be disappointed."
After saying that, Bryce left alone, looking for the exit of the secret room.
Lockhart could neither advance nor retreat, and was anxiously turning around in circles.
In front of Harry and the other three was a huge stone chamber, dark and damp, with towering stone pillars on both sides entwined with huge snake carvings, extending upward to the ceiling.
They walked slowly forward around the stone pillars, and a most sculptural sculpture came into view, a huge and old face.
And in the open space in front of the stone sculpture face, there was lying a thin girl wearing a green Slytherin house robe.
"Reina!" Draco rushed forward and knelt on the ground.
"Wake up Rena, Merlin, please don't die, please..." He helped Rena up, and Theodore was checking Rena's injuries. Harry and Ron also came over.
"Why did she become like this?" Ron asked in confusion, "Did Hermalena offend the heir in some way?"
"She won't wake up, but she hasn't offended me." A gentle voice came from the darkness.
Ron was startled. Harry stood up and took a defensive posture. Ron looked at his wand and silently moved behind Harry.
A tall, handsome black-haired boy walked out of the darkness, but he looked a little blurry, like a shadow.
"Who are you?" Draco asked warily.
The man wore the Slytherin crest on his wizarding robes, but Draco had never seen anyone like him in the House.
"Tom Riddle." He nodded indifferently, but his eyes were fixed on Harry's face.
"Is that you?" Harry asked.
"Yes, it seems you are familiar with me, so I don't need to introduce myself," he said.
"What do you mean when you say she won't wake up?" Theodore stood up. He didn't find any particularly obvious scars on Rena's body, but Rena's body was as cold and lifeless as a dead person.
"She's still alive, but that's all." He walked in slowly. Although he was walking, he gave people an unreal feeling of floating.
"Who the hell are you?" Draco asked through gritted teeth.
"A memory," he said. "A conscious memory stored in my journal."
He passed a few people and stopped in front of the huge stone face.
"What did you do to Reyna?" Harry pointed his wand at him.
"Me? I'm just a diary. What can I do? I just listen to Reina's diary every day, chat with little Reina, and then collect a little tip." His casual attitude was exactly what made people unhappy.
"It was you who tempted Reina to open the Chamber of Secrets, releasing the basilisk and endangering the school. Now you have kidnapped Reina." Draco yelled at Riddle.
"It seems that you know. Ah, that's true. However, without Lockhart forcing Reina to communicate with me, I wouldn't be able to absorb so much power. Poor child." He closed his eyes, looking very happy.
"What do you mean?" Ron looked at him in disbelief.
"Don't you understand yet?" Riddle opened his eyes. "As a memory, it naturally requires sufficient magic power to transform into reality. As for Hermalena, I feel that she has some power that her peers cannot reach. The weaker she is, the stronger I am."
"But that's not enough." He suddenly pointed at Harry, "I have to see you - Harry Potter, it's a good thing you're here."
