HP: Let professors walk towards the light
Chapter 60: An Anticipated Christmas
"How do you know all this?" said Dumbledore.
"I also know a lot of things, including that forty years ago, the Chamber of Secrets in Hogwarts was also opened, and a girl was petrified to death by the basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets and became the current Moaning Myrtle."
"If you knew that, then why did you release the basilisk, a basilisk that has survived for thousands of years?"
"Rooster." Dumbledore said slowly, "It seems that you were the one who killed Hagrid's rooster."
"I'm so sorry, but we have to do it completely. The basilisk is afraid of the crowing of roosters. I have hidden part of Hagrid's rooster at the exit of the pipe. The basilisk will not crawl out to harm the students, but I need Harry to go into the Chamber of Secrets and kill the basilisk."
"Him? Kill the basilisk? Are you serious?" Snape looked incredulous.
"I think Headmaster Dumbledore thinks so too."
"What?" Snape looked at Dumbledore in disbelief.
"He's just a kid, and you let him kill a basilisk that's ten times older than you?"
Dumbledore: "We have a ready help, don't we?"
"what?"
"I do plan to let Harry go into the Chamber of Secrets to kill the basilisk, but that will be after Fawkes grows up. During this period, the students in the school will be in great danger." Dumbledore paced slowly in the room.
"Yes, in comparison, the plan of the ingenious Headmaster Dumbledore is obviously more bloody and terrifying than mine, Professor Snape, isn't it?" Reina smiled maliciously.
"Even if I didn't open the Chamber of Secrets, there would be others who would take my place, and they wouldn't necessarily leave Hagrid's rooster behind. What would happen then? Many students would be petrified, and those with less luck might even become the second or third Myrtle. Headmaster, this is a responsibility you can't afford."
"Are you so sure that the Chamber of Secrets will be opened?" Dumbledore was standing by the window, and his old voice came over.
"Absolutely sure, that's why I opened it myself." Lena looked at Dumbledore's back.
No matter how resourceful and strategic this old man was, he eventually entered old age. He had spent most of his life planning. On the surface, he was kind and gentle, wise and intelligent, but such a great and respected wizard must also be in pain inside.
"I hope that, in the Chamber of Secrets, you can protect Harry if we don't get there in time."
"You believe me?" Lena was a little surprised. Dumbledore actually trusted a Slytherin with impure background and motives?
"Why not?" Dumbledore turned around and smiled kindly.
"It would be my honor to have your trust." Reina smiled back.
"May I know what you want with that?" Dumbledore returned.
"You will understand later, and then I will bother you again." Reina stood up and wrapped herself tightly around the scarf that symbolized Slytherin.
"But I would prefer a Chocolate Frog. It's getting late, and I should go back."
"Go away." Dumbledore waved his hand.
……
"Are you really going to hand over the life of your precious savior to her? And do you really think she is capable of protecting Harry? You said she is under my care." Snape stood up.
"Let me trust my old and blurry eyes once again. Didn't you tell me not to treat her as a child? So I called her here." Dumbledore patted Snape's shoulder.
"Severus, I really didn't care about her. I gave you a two-way mirror. Let's see how much information she can reveal to us that we don't know. As for where this information comes from, who cares? As long as it's useful, I'm old and can't think anymore. It's time to be lazy."
?
"What, you're going back?" Hermione said to Harry in shock.
"But this is the first time Sirius and I spend Christmas together, and I...I can't miss it, or I'll have to wait another year." Harry pursed his lips.
"But what about our plan? What about Polyjuice Potion?" said Ron.
"You didn't say before that the plan would be carried out during the Christmas holidays. You know, I just found my relatives and there's nothing wrong with me wanting to spend a Christmas with my godfather," said Harry.
"Yes, that's true. However, I have always controlled the progress of the Polyjuice Potion according to the Christmas time. Moreover, I have already found out that because of Nick's petrification, not too few people will stay in school. But Malfoy will be there this year, and Crabbe and Goyle have been following Malfoy. They will do whatever he says. This is a perfect time to commit the crime." Hermione explained patiently.
"If we wait until you come back and everyone else comes back, we will be very likely to be exposed! Those Slytherins are all cunning people, and we can't escape unscathed."
"But if I'm not here, there are still you two. One Crabbe and one Goyle are just right, aren't they?" Harry pointed at the two of them.
"Friends, Sirius has written to me saying that he is looking forward to my return for Christmas. You have no idea how tempting that is to me. He has been writing to me to apologize for the incident at the beginning of last term when he said that it was his fault because he did not walk behind me and Dobby closed the passage, causing me to lose him. Although nothing happened to me, this is the first time I have felt... the bond of family love that is visible to the naked eye. Oh, you will not understand me..."
"You're right, if my mother kept writing to me I'd just feel - suffocated -" Ron shuddered.
"Okay, sorry Harry." Hermione sighed and said, "Then leave it to me and Ron, although I don't really want to dress up as a boy."
The semester was over, and Harry followed the students returning home and took the train to Grimmauld Place to spend his first and most anticipated Christmas.
Hogwarts is peaceful and tranquil. Snowflakes fall from the roof to the ground, blow toward the frozen lake, and fly into the dreams of the students who stay at school, carrying a little bit of longing. The snowflakes are white and the ground is white. Even though it is very cold in winter, it is a beautiful sight that should not be missed.
On Christmas morning, Hermione woke up Ron, who was alone in the dormitory. She wore beautiful new clothes, ran in, opened the curtains, and threw the gift on Ron, who was still sleepy.
"Hermione - why are you here?" Ron raised his hand to block the light and opened a gift with one hand. It was a delicate-looking notebook, but it looked like it was used by Muggles.
"Mine won't be the same as Harry's."
Hermione rolled her eyes. She sat on the edge of the bed. "His is an eagle feather quill. I've been up for an hour. The medicine is ready."
"It sounds like his is more expensive than mine. Are you sure?" Ron asked tentatively.
"Sure." She patted Ron's head. "I think we can do it tonight. Then I'll figure out how to get rid of Crabbe and Goyle."
