HP: Let professors walk towards the light

Chapter 212 Lucius's Considerations

212

"Okay, let's get down to business. Lucius, I've sent a letter to Egypt. Someone will probably come before Christmas, but I have to get back to Hogwarts before anyone finds out. So I need you to help me receive them, and then..."

Reina folded her hands and supported her chin. Normally, she should be thinking hard now, thinking about the possibility that Harry would repeat the same mistakes; thinking about how Voldemort would be resurrected, and so on.

But her mind was empty now. Rather than being completely blank, it was more like smoothed silk. She was not thinking, and the stagnant air was so intense that even Lucius noticed her absent-mindedness.

"So, how do you plan to get back? Back to Hogwarts. I hope you still remember Draco. Although I'm surprised that he didn't split apart the first time he Apparated, that doesn't mean we'll indulge him. And if we use the fireplace, we won't be able to avoid being discovered. Or do you want me to take you there?"

Lucius saw that she seemed to be hesitant to speak, but he still took over the conversation.

"That's not necessary, the elves can do it." Reina answered subconsciously.

"Sorry, I didn't catch that. You're not talking about house-elves, are you?"

Lena finally noticed her own gaffe, as if her brain had started working again. She certainly remembered that Lucius disliked elves, and waved her hand as if deleting something on a piece of paper.

"I have another question. You know the Patronus Charm, right?"

Lucius frowned and looked at her with some confusion.

"If you're not here to tease me on purpose." Everyone knows that Death Eaters cannot use the Patronus Charm normally.

Of course, Reina is also one of them, but to be frank, Death Eater is just a title. People think that Death Eaters have lost the right to be protected because of their corrupt nature, but this is just a rationalized speculation after all.

But Lucius is not a person who would give in to depravity. He has a happy family and an excellent career, so she wants to give it a try:

"Of course not. I just wanted to ask you how much you know about this because... my guardian beast disappeared."

"How could this happen? But you..."

Lucius was obviously shocked. He looked at Reina for a while and even wanted to pull Reina's arm to check her dark mark.

"I don't have that thing, don't worry."

Lucius couldn't think of a conclusion, but he said what he knew:

"As you know, I'm a well-known Death Eater, so I can't summon my Patronus now. So I can only think of the Dark Mark, because I also had it before - Malfoy's silver snake."

"But I don't have the Dark Mark, and I'm sure its disappearance had nothing to do with this."

Even though she had joined the Death Eaters before, that was a long time ago. Besides, she could still summon her Patronus, but this time, it was a completely sudden change.

From what Lucius said, it seems that he still cannot use the guardian beast.

"Calm down. It's nothing. I've learned this before. Major accidents and emotional changes can cause changes in guardian beasts. Perhaps its disappearance is related to what you've been through. You need to think calmly. Only you know the answer."

Lucius could see through Reina's anxiety. No matter how he explained it, the disappearance of the guardian beast would not sound like a good omen, just like his past.

"I'll help you pay attention to the magical knowledge in this area."

"please."

In Reina's mind emerged her guardian beast, the silver eagle that accompanied her through those incredible times, soaring in the blue sky; and the giant-horned reindeer that stood by her side and strengthened her unknown emotions in her confusion.

It was as if they were still standing behind her at this moment.

I hope... it's not that kind of bad news.

"Sometimes you should rely on others. This is the advice a father gives you. Well, it will be dawn soon. If you are not in a hurry to go back, there are still many guest bedrooms in Malfoy Manor."

Lucius looked at Reina and found that he had been staring at her for quite a long time. However, he felt that this child, perhaps could be called a child, at least on the outside, and she needed this kind of attention from others, just like a real child.

"I do need some sleep, I guess."

"Then you'll like the bedroom on the easternmost side of the second floor."

Reina was stunned. She couldn't help but smile at the guest bedroom on the east side of the second floor of Malfoy Manor.

Lucius was the gentleman as always.

During the time when she was a Death Eater, she stayed in Malfoy Manor to recuperate because of the magical backlash caused by Voldemort's forced summoning. It was Lucius who arranged the bedroom for her, facing the lake, full of sunshine and breeze.

It must be said that in a place with Voldemort and a room full of Death Eaters, that room did make her feel comfortable.

"Although I'm not sure about your aesthetics, I still have great trust in your enjoyment of life."

Seeing this, Lucius turned around helplessly, thinking that the situation was over and was about to go out, but was stopped by Lena again.

"Lucius, you should know that Draco is in the magic shop in Hogsmeade."

Lucius knew this, of course. It was rare that he didn't interfere with something Draco did, although he didn't think the 1,000 Galleons he gave him would last long at first. Unexpectedly, Draco did surprisingly well.

At first he thought there would be idiots like Goyle or Crabbe, and even prepared words of comfort and encouragement, but now it seems that Nott and Zabini are indeed worth cooperating with.

"It's just a toy for children."

Reina smiled. "But you don't think so, right? You know exactly what he did."

Lucius said with unmistakable pride, "He is my son after all."

"But you have to face this problem. You can't keep avoiding it. You need to talk to Draco. Malfoy and Nott are different. Think about it carefully. As you said, as a father, don't let him become like you. You probably don't want Malfoy's silver snake to disappear like mine."

Lucius was stunned for a moment after hearing this. Lena walked past him and looked back. With just that one glance, Lucius seemed to understand Malfoy's future from her eyes.

There was no way anyone would dare to question Malfoy in front of him.

However, Reina is an exception.

From the time he agreed to cooperate with her, gradually until now, it was as if he had tacitly agreed to everything the girl said. In other words, he had come to trust her so much.

Is it some kind of magic like the Imperius Curse?

No, Lucius rejected this assumption without even thinking about it.

Hermalena, she must be the one who can lead Malfoy to glory again, although it is a shame that Malfoy needs to rely on an outsider.

But so what? Being able to seize such an opportunity was also a testament to Lucius's strength.

Not Black, not Lestrange, not anyone else, but him, Malfoy.

"How dare you use my words against me? You're as presumptuous as ever. Never mind. I'm a tolerant and generous father after all. So, have a good rest."
