When Louis walked into the university to register on this hot summer day, he felt that he must be crazy.
The illness is still very serious.
Even sicker than the moldy little fish his mother pickled in the vat.
The campus welcome club and the professional reporting office were crowded together. There were many people, a lot of sweat, and people were jostling each other. Louis, dressed in black, wearing a tight hat, and carrying a sports backpack, took a look at the door and turned away.
Halfway through the journey, I received a text message from my father, saying that all his living expenses for the next four years had been transferred to his bank card, and told him not to spend it recklessly, as he would receive spending reminders.
If he found out that Louis dared to skip school and squander their money, Louis's father would fly back home that same day to take him away and have a mixed doubles match with his mother to let him know what it means to be a couple who work together.
Louis grew up being almost spoiled, and he was too young, so this threat was still enough to deter him.
Louis found a store with the least customers, ordered a coffee and played games to kill time. After the coffee came and he took a few sips, Louis understood why there were so few people in this store.
A cup of black coffee can be as strong as traditional Chinese medicine that has been left out in the sun for three days, sour and bitter, leaving a lasting impression on your throat.
Louis put the game console on the table, took a small spoon to add a lethal amount of sugar and took another sip.
Very good, the Chinese medicine turned into poison. Louis got up and went to the bathroom to rinse his mouth.
When I came back, I was met with a burst of fragrance.
It doesn't smell like coffee beans, nor does it smell like toiletries.
Louis was about to walk back to his seat, but he turned around and followed the smell to the front of the bar.
A barista in waiter's uniform was busy, with his back to Louis. He had broad shoulders and two lace edges on his apron extending to his waist. A bow button on his back held up his pure white uniform shirt, making his back look very straight.
Another waiter came over, the same one who had just brought Louis the herbal coffee.
"Sir, would you like to order anything else..."
"Need not."
Louis refused, and the barista at the bar happened to turn around, and a very outstanding face suddenly caught Louis' eyes.
Louis stared at it for a while, and an adjective came to his mind - beautiful.
At the same time, as the other party approached, the faint fragrance wafted over again. Louis moved his nose and took a step back: "...pay the bill."
"Ok."
The barista stepped back and, not having an order, went to the cashier to give Louis the bill.
Louis lowered his eyes to watch the hands ticking on the cash register and asked, "Did you make the coffee just now?"
The barista nodded: "Yeah."
Louis: “It tastes terrible.”
The barista nodded. “I think so too.”
Louis laughed out loud: "Is your store about to go bankrupt?"
The barista responded over the sound of a printer clicking, "It's not my shop, but if I keep running for a few more days, it'll probably go bankrupt."
Louis took the form. The thermal receipt had a faint smell of chemical plastic, and a faint fragrance followed.
Louis asked casually, "Are you here to work?"
Barista: "Yeah, first day on the job."
Louis thought that the original boss was really bold, hiring a barista based solely on his looks.
"Are you still studying?"
The barista looked up and took in the other person's appearance - short red hair, the ends of which were sticking up everywhere because of the hat he was wearing, a young and tender face, and an inconspicuous little mole on the tip of his nose.
"Starting today, freshman year."
The barista pointed to the noisy school diagonally across the street.
Louis smiled, revealing his fangs, turned back to his seat to get his bag and game console, walked back to the bar, and wrote down his name and phone number on the receipt.
"Meet new classmates, let's play together in the future."
The barista looked at the receipt that was pushed in front of him, with the two big words "Louis" flying on it, then looked up at the other person's raised eyebrow face, and reached out to take it.
"Yeah, let's play together later."
Louis gestured with one hand on his eyebrows and walked out the door looking very handsome and showy.
The waiter nearby came over and asked in confusion, "Is it so easy for you handsome guys to make friends? Or do handsome guys only hang out with handsome guys? Can you connect to GPS in a crowd?"
Louis had no idea what was happening behind him.
There was an awning outside the cafe. Louis put on his hat and kept his entire face strictly under the brim. Looking at the increasingly hot sun outside, he put on a mask again.
At the bar counter of the coffee shop, Rong Yuzhuo saw through the glass window the red-haired man getting fully armed, and lowered his head to put the receipt into his pocket.
-------------------------------------
The second meeting happened faster than Louis had imagined.
After completing the school admission process as quickly as possible, Louis took the opportunity to ask for leave for military training. After receiving the hospital certificate, the counselor explained some precautions and waved his hand to remind Louis, who looked like a trendy guy, not to forget the opening ceremony.
After finishing the work, the sun was about to set. Louis had been on the plane for such a long time and had patiently checked in. He was feeling a little hungry at this time.
He remembered the aroma of the barista again.
Louis still walked towards the coffee shop with his sports bag on his back, but when he got there he found that it was closed.
When I turned around again, I saw the barista, who had changed his clothes, coming over with keys, as if he was coming back to get something.
The visitor was stunned. Louis smiled and wanted to greet him, but found that he didn't know the other person's name.
"Rong Yuzhuo."
Louis nodded: "Jade bracelet, what a good name."
Rong Yuzhuo walked to the front of the coffee shop, unlocked it, and went in to take out his backpack. "Yu means jade pendant, Zhuo means excellence."
Louis nodded and said, "Yes, Xiao Yuzhuo."
Rong Yuzhuo: "...This place closes early. If you want coffee, you have to go somewhere else."
Louis shook his head. “Coffee with a Chinese herbal flavor is rare. I don’t think it’s easy to find such a unique flavor.”
Rong Yuzhuo took out his phone and said, "I'll refund you the money for the coffee."
Louis reached out and pushed the other person's phone down: "No, that's not what I meant."
Louis, who had just arrived, originally wanted to stay in a hotel for a while and then find a place to live after he got familiar with the place.
He couldn't live in the school dormitory because there were too many people and the smells were too mixed.
"If you want to express your apology, you can help me find a place to live."
Rong Yuzhuo seemed to be hesitant, and when Louis was about to give up in silence, Rong Yuzhuo turned on his mobile phone again, and a photo of a simply decorated two-bedroom, one-living-room house was sent to Louis.
"Live with me, we'll split the rent in half."
Louis raised his head and said with a smile, "Aren't you afraid of inviting a wolf into the house?"
Rong Yuzhuo said nothing, but his eyes moved from Louis's red head to his eyes. The words "I'm taller and stronger than you" floated silently in the silent air.
Louis curled his lips and patted the other person's shoulder: "Come on, lead the way."
Rong Yuzhuo put on his bag and walked a few steps before saying, "Aren't you afraid that I'm going to catch you in a trap?"
Louis shook his head: "Then wait and see, who is the wolf and who is the turtle between us."
"Can't it be a human?"
Louis shook his head: "No, I'm not human."
