Si Yehan knew he couldn't fight Nangong Xuan, but he also didn't want his wife and daughter to be taken away like that.

Without hesitation, he picked up Gu Nian with one hand and pulled Gu Wan with the other: "Follow me!"

The three of them quickly made their way through the panicked crowd, running towards the side entrance of the amusement park. Gu Nian burst into tears of fear in Si Yehan's arms, and Gu Wan followed mechanically, unable to take her eyes off her mother.

They rushed out the side door, and Si Yehan quickly hailed a taxi. After getting in, he gave the address of a safe house on the outskirts of the city—a place only he knew.

Inside the car, Gu Nian gradually stopped crying and fell asleep curled up in Gu Wan's arms, her little hands still tightly clutching the corner of Si Yehan's clothes.

Gu Wan finally broke down, tears bursting out: "Why? Why did she pretend to be dead? Does she know how much pain I have been in all these years?"

Si Yehan hugged her tightly in his arms: "Wanwan, don't be like this..."

As the taxi left the city, the scenery outside the window gradually became desolate. Gu Wan recalled the scene of the car accident six years ago, and six years of pain, anger, and longing flooded into his heart.

"On Nian Nian's fifth birthday," Gu Wan's voice trembled, "she asked me why she didn't have a grandmother. I told her that her grandmother had gone far away...but I wished I could take her to her mother's grave, but I didn't even know where her cenotaph was..."

"Night..."

Si Yehan stared out the window in silence, his eyes dark. He pulled out his phone and quickly sent several encrypted messages. The Nangong Jue case was progressing at an accelerated pace, and whoever was behind it would be held responsible.

The taxi stopped in front of a secluded villa. Si Yehan paid the fare and carefully picked up the sleeping Gu Nian. "We're here. Let's get settled first, and then we'll make further plans."

Gu Wan followed him into the villa. When the door closed, the nightmare of her mother's car accident that had troubled Gu Wan for six years finally ended, but a bigger storm was brewing.

At 6:30 in the evening, the sound of rain hitting the glass windows of the villa was like countless tiny fingers tapping gently.

Si Yehan stood in front of the French window, looking out at the rain-blurred outlines of the mountains and forests, his brows unconsciously furrowed.

This villa located on the outskirts of the city was purchased by him in his early years, and even the people in the Si family's old house didn't know of its existence.

They have been hiding here for three days.

"Dad, what are you looking at?"

A pair of soft hands suddenly hugged his legs. Si Yehan lowered his head and met his daughter Gu Nian's large eyes, which resembled Gu Wan's.

The six-year-old girl looked up with her hair disheveled, her pajamas printed with cartoon rabbits, and one of her slippers had fallen somewhere, and her bare little feet were stepping on his slippers.

Si Yehan's heart softened instantly. He squatted down and gently pinched his daughter's cheek. "I'm watching the rain. Nian Nian, why don't you put on your shoes? The ground is cold."

"I miss Dad." Gu Nian threw herself into his arms, rubbing her little head against his shoulder. "Mom is making cookies in the kitchen and asked me to come find you."

Si Yehan picked up his daughter and walked towards the kitchen. The air was already filled with the sweet scent of butter and vanilla.

Gu Wan was putting dough into the oven with her back to the door. She was wearing simple home clothes, her hair casually tied up, revealing her fair neck.

Si Yehan stood there, unwilling to make a sound and disturb this ordinary yet precious scene.

"Mom! Dad is here!" Gu Nian announced while twisting in his arms.

Gu Wan turned around, her face stained with flour. Seeing her husband holding their daughter, her eyes curved into crescents. Suddenly, she changed the subject: "Ye Han... It's not a good idea for us to keep hiding like this. Nian Nian has to go to school, and you have to go to the company too."

"Yes, I've already made arrangements," Si Yehan replied softly, his eyes glancing over his wife's slender fingers. "As for the Nangong family..."

Gu Wan's smile froze for a moment, then she shook her head. "Let's not talk about that for now. The cookies will be ready soon. Nian Nian just drew a picture of the three of us, it's really beautiful."

Gu Nian immediately became excited: "Dad! I drew you taller than the tree! Mom is as beautiful as a flower! I am a little white rabbit!"

Si Yehan kissed his daughter's forehead, a warm feeling welling up in his heart.

In the past six years, he has indeed missed too many moments of his daughter's growth.

With a ding, the oven timer went off. Gu Wan put on oven gloves and took out the golden cookies.

Gu Nian struggled to get out of Si Yehan's arms: "I want to eat the first one!"

"Be careful, it's hot." Gu Wan broke off a small piece, blew it to cool, and handed it to her daughter. Then she broke off another piece and handed it to Si Yehan. "Want to try it?"

Si Yehan took a bite of his wife's hand, the sweet fragrance melting in his mouth.

At this moment, he almost forgot all the turmoil outside - the threat from the Nangong family, the open and covert business struggles, and the hidden enemies who coveted the Si family's assets. At this moment, he was just an ordinary husband and father.

"What do you want to eat tonight?" Gu Wan asked while cleaning the kitchen. "I bought some fresh fish."

"I love everything my mother cooks!" Gu Nian quickly answered, her mouth full of biscuits.

Si Yehan looked at his daughter, then at his wife, and said softly, "Me too."

Outside the window, the rain was getting heavier and the sky was darkening. But in the courtyard, a warm light was on. Three figures were swaying in the kitchen, their laughter occasionally breaking through the sound of the rain.

After dinner, Gu Nian, holding a storybook, squeezed in between Si Yehan and Gu Wan. "Today, I want Mom and Dad to tell a story together."

Gu Wan glanced at Si Yehan, a little hesitant: "Niannian, Daddy is tired..."

"That's okay." Si Yehan took the book and flipped to the first page. "Dad's happy to." He cleared his throat and began to read, his deep voice echoing in the living room.

Gu Nian leaned in his arms, staring at the pages without blinking. Gu Wan sat on the other side, his fingers unconsciously twirling a strand of his daughter's hair.

Halfway through the story, Gu Nian began to yawn. Gu Wan whispered, "Time to go to bed, baby."

"Don't..." Gu Nian rubbed his eyes, "I haven't finished yet..."

Si Yehan closed the book. "We'll continue tomorrow, okay? Daddy promises."

Gu Nian suddenly looked up, her big eyes gleaming with anticipation: "Can I sleep with Mom and Dad today? Just like the little rabbit in the story?"

Si Yehan and Gu Wan were both stunned. Ever since they met, Gu Nian had been sleeping with Gu Wan, while Si Yehan slept in the next room.

Gu Wan looked at her daughter's expectant eyes, then glanced at Si Yehan's eager profile. "Yes, okay."

Gu Nian cheered, holding her father with one hand and her mother with the other, and skipped towards the master bedroom.

Si Yehan fell a little behind, looking at his wife's slender back and his daughter's joyful expression. A strange sense of satisfaction welled up in his chest.

The large bed in the master bedroom was large enough to accommodate three people. Gu Nian insisted on sleeping in the middle, like a small bridge connecting her parents. Gu Wan tucked her in and kissed her forehead: "Good night, Nian Nian."

"Daddy wants a kiss too!" Gu Nian turned to Si Yehan.

Si Yehan leaned over and awkwardly kissed his daughter's forehead. "Good night, my little princess."

"Mom and Dad should say good night to each other too!" Gu Nian insisted, pushing them closer with her little hands.
