Chapter 584: Inference, Training, and the Battle

“Now it’s worked,” sighed Rita Witaski.

"No, at least not yet." Rosen shook his head and said, "Omega obviously doesn't understand one truth: Man proposes, God disposes."

"Although it is not a human, its plan was ultimately ruined because of your accidental injury and the blood transfusion it received. As a result, its blood was contaminated and it lost the ability to reset time."

Hearing this, Rita's eyes suddenly lit up.

"So, I indirectly slowed down the pace of the war?" Rita asked.

"Yes, at least that's what I think." Rosen said, "But Omega obviously doesn't want to drag it on endlessly, so it feels that it needs a new chess piece, or to set up a new flag to help it complete the rest of its strategic layout."

Having said that, he looked at William Cage next to him.

"I?"

"That's right." Rosen nodded and said, "What could be more suitable to be a pawn and ears and eyes than a rookie who stumbles onto the battlefield trembling with fear but has never fired a shot?"

"But why would it do this?" William Cage asked, "Omega can reset time. It's already in a winning position. Why would it go to such great lengths?"

"It's a sure win, but it might waste a lot of time and energy." Rosen said, "You don't think you can just reset the time casually, do you?"

"of course not."

"So there is a way to save effort, why bother?" Rosen looked at him and said, "Besides, I've already said that it treats you as a pawn, and also as its eyes and ears."

"It is using the time reset triggered every time you die to spy on the intelligence and movements of the Human United Defense Force. It is even looking for loopholes in its own battle through your repeated attempts at death."

At this point, Rosen looked at him and said, "Don't be complacent because you think you are growing rapidly and improving in your battles after death."

"The guy behind you may be growing even faster now. He may even be waiting for the information you send to him before you die."

Rosen looked at William Cage, whose face had turned extremely ugly, and said, "Don't be depressed. These are just my speculations. Maybe it's not that bad." (Note)

William Cage opened his mouth, but in the end said nothing.

He admitted that he was a little timid and did not want to go to the battlefield because he was afraid of death.

But he never thought of becoming a traitor. But if Rosen's analysis was correct, he had accidentally become such an ignominious character.

"What can I do?" asked William Cage.

"Stay alive. Try to live as long as possible on the battlefield." Rosen said, "As long as you don't die, the time reset will most likely not be triggered. I can take this opportunity to find Omega and kill him."

"You?" William Cage looked at Rosen and said, "How can you kill Omega by yourself? There shouldn't be a lack of monsters guarding it, right?"

"And me." Rita Vitasky stepped out.

"It doesn't take too many people to kill Omega." Rosen smiled faintly, looked into William Cage's eyes and said, "All I need is to spend a little more time to find it, and you don't need to worry about the rest."

"Why do I feel like you two are hiding some secret from me?" William Cage looked at Rosen and Rita Witaski and said suspiciously.

"It's not just you, I feel the same way." said Dr. Carter.

"Some things are inconvenient to tell you now." Rosen looked at William Cage and said, "But don't worry, as long as we successfully kill Omega, I will tell you all the secrets you want to know."

"It's a deal?"

"of course."

"What about our original plan?" Dr. Carter looked at Rita Vitaski.

"Let's continue." Rita Witaski said, "There are plenty of opportunities for trial and error anyway. It's not bad to try Rosen's plan. What if it succeeds?"

The three of them then returned to the training ground, and in order to allow William Cage to survive longer on the battlefield, Rita Witaski decided to give him expedited special training, with Rosen assisting him.

The so-called assistance does not mean making Rosen a target, but staying quietly aside, praying, continuously treating him, or healing him after he is injured.

The reason why Rita Witaski knew that Rosen had such a skill was, of course, because she had seen him use it before when they fought side by side.

Of course, prayer is not a panacea.

If William Cage's injury is too troublesome, there is a simpler solution.

For example, Rita pulled out a Glock and shot the latter in the head.

Time is reset and everything is new.

The only ones who were unhappy were William Cage and Rosen, because they had to relive a scene they had already experienced many times.

One word, annoying!

Repeated practice is not useless. At least William Cage's skills are improving at a speed visible to the naked eye.

It’s a pity that there was only less than a day, otherwise, maybe I could have really practiced it well.

Such frequent time resets naturally attracted Omega's attention. It was just like how no matter how slow-witted a person was, if a certain part of his body was always hurting, he would eventually discover it.

So one day during training, William Cage saw the long-awaited image, which was a dam with German words on it.

Rosen understood the plot and of course knew it was a trap.

However, he did not tell William Cage. As he had said before, this guy could become Omega's spy at any time, so confidential matters had to be kept from him.

"Vitaski, I will take action next time." Rosen said.

"Call me," said Rita Witaski.

"Let's talk about it when we're on the battlefield." Rosen said with a smile, "As long as you're alive, I'll definitely take you with me."

"It's a word."

"It's a word."

"Hey, what are you two talking about?" William Cage, who was injured again and lying on the ground, asked weakly.

Then he saw the muzzle of Rita's gun.

boom.

William Cage woke up from the luggage bag again.

As usual, Lao Hei called him a coward, and then told him to take sides, otherwise he would kick his ass.

Then Chief Petty Officer Farrell came over with a smile on his face.

Everything was no different from before, but William Cage was different after all, so he responded calmly, neither talking too much nor being awkward, just wanting to see Rosen and Rita as soon as possible.

I met the members of Team J, then met Rosen, and then went running together.

This time, Rosen also stopped the noise in the team, but did not take William Cage to see Rita Witaski.

When Chief Petty Officer Farrell felt that the training was enough, he sent everyone back, and at the same time reminded them: "Go to bed early at night, don't mess around, Mochi, I'm talking about you."

After a pause, he said, "We will go to the battlefield tomorrow. I hope everyone can come back safely."

"With Rosen here, there will be absolutely no problem." Everyone shouted in unison.

The next day, six o'clock in the morning.

After a quick breakfast, everyone put on helmets and exoskeleton armor and lined up to walk out.

It is worth mentioning that Fatty Mochi didn’t even wear a military uniform, he just put on the exoskeleton armor with his bare chest.

William Cage is now like an experienced veteran who can handle the exoskeleton armor without help from others, and of course he will not encounter any situation where he doesn't know how to open the safety.

"Griff." Farrell, who was also in the team, shouted.

"Sir?"

"Take care of Private Cage."

"All day?"

"I don't think it will take that long," Farrell said.
