Chapter 34: Total destruction, true chapter, patrol soldiers

"They're over there." Rosen squatted on the hill, pointed at a flickering bonfire in the distance, and whispered to Diana beside him.

"What are you waiting for? Go and kill them." Diana said as she drew her sword and looked at the people below eagerly.

"Don't worry, we need to discuss a battle plan." Rosen said.

"Is it necessary?" Diana said nonchalantly, "I can kill them all by myself."

"I know you can do it because you have the ability to do it." Rosen said, "But have you ever thought about it? If you really meet Ares, can you still defeat him so easily?"

"I... should be able to, right?" Diana said hesitantly.

However, when Diana thought about how Ares defeated so many gods in the past, and in the end only Zeus defeated him but failed to kill him, it showed how strong Ares was. Suddenly, she felt less confident.

"We can't be vague in a war." Rosen said, "To be absolutely sure, we should use every battle to hone our tacit understanding before the duel with Ares."

He stared into Diana's eyes and said, "I said I would fight with you and help you kill Ares. I will never break my promise, but I need you to cooperate with me. Can you do it?"

"Yes." Diana nodded, and then said gratefully: "Thank you, Rosen."

"You're welcome." Rosen pointed to the front and said, "You will attack from the front later to attract their attention and defeat them. I will provide long-range assistance, especially keep an eye on the two horses to prevent anyone from escaping in the chaos. Do you understand?"

"Understood." Diana made an OK gesture, which she learned from Rosen.

"Let's get started." Rosen said as he took off his titanium recurve bow, grabbed a triangular arrow from the quiver, put it on the bowstring, and pulled the bow to its full length with a little effort.

"Om."

The sound of bowstring suddenly rang out, and the triangular arrow whizzed out. In a flash of light, it turned into two slightly smaller flying arrows, which shot to death two sentries holding rifles with two puffs.

"Enemy attack!" The German soldiers sitting around the campfire shouted loudly. They were shocked but not panicked. They raised their guns and fired in the direction where the arrows came from.

"what!"

Diana growled, held the shield in front of her with one hand, and rushed downwards.

The distance from the hill to the campfire was only 500 meters, which took Diana less than three seconds to get there.

But in such a short time, Rosen was able to shoot at least four arrows.

With Multi-Arrow, this means eight arrows will fly towards the enemy.

So when Diana rushed closer, she saw the last enemy who was shot by an arrow lying dead on the ground.

"Rosen..." Diana suddenly turned around and looked at Rosen rather unhappily, but the expression on her face was more of coquettishness than real anger.

"Sorry, I didn't hold you for the moment." Rosen apologized repeatedly with a smile, but he really had no intention of changing his mind. After all, every enemy killed was a merit point, which was really important to him, so how could he give it to others?

Of course, he couldn't say that. He said, "It was my fault just now, but the way of attack should be fine. As long as we cooperate well, not only can we take the head of the general from the army easily, but we can also win the final victory even if we face Ares one day. Do you have confidence?"

"Yes." Diana was so excited by what he said that she forgot the unpleasantness just now and shouted loudly.

"You take a rest first, I'll clean up the battlefield." Rosen said as he began to search the corpses on the ground for spoils.

In addition to money, watches, and weapons, Rosen found a briefcase on the body of an officer, which contained some documents and a military map.

The German text on the document stumped Rosen, so he handed it to Diana and asked, "Can you understand it?"

"No problem." Diana nodded, quickly glanced at the documents, pointed to one and said, "This is a confidential document from the German army, asking them to step up their investigation of the distribution of the Allied forces on the front line."

Then he handed over another one and said, "This one is about transferring personnel to the military camp near Feld Town."

As she spoke, she spread out the map and quickly found the marked town of Feld. She pointed at it and said, "Let's go there tomorrow. Maybe we can find something."

"No problem." Rosen nodded.

He remembered that there was a fierce battle in this military camp in the original plot, so he naturally would not miss it.

"Are you hungry?" Rosen asked as he began to rummage through his backpack.

Although there was some food left by the people who had just been killed next to the fire, Rosen didn't want to eat it.

Soon Rosen found two bags of bread, a ham and two bottles of wine in the backpack.

While Rosen cut the ham into pieces and put them on the fire to roast with a saber, he handed a bottle of wine to Diana and said, "Steve prepared quite a lot. This wine might be for us to celebrate our victory after we kill Ares, but we can congratulate you in advance now."

"No more drinking." Diana put the wine back into her backpack and said, "We'll drink after we win, you and me."

"Okay." Rosen nodded with a smile.

"Rosen, I've never heard you talk about yourself. Can you tell you where you are from?" Diana poked the fire with a stick and asked Rosen with squinted eyes.

"I am Chinese, and I come from a distant time and space."

Although there was no Lasso of Truth wrapped around his hands, Rosen still didn't want to deceive Diana, so he told the truth: "I was just a student. By chance, I came to Paradise Island and met you."

Rosen was actually testing the system by doing this, wanting to see how it would react to him telling the truth to the characters in the plot.

Now it seems that he can say whatever he wants about himself, but he cannot say anything about the system, otherwise he will be overwhelmed by a strong sense of crisis.

"Are you saying that you are not from this world?" Diana asked in surprise.

"Yes." Rosen nodded and said, "I am from 2024."

"That would be more than a hundred years later." Diana exclaimed, "When did this war end?"

"In our time and space, World War I ended in 1918, but World War II would begin not many years later, affecting a wider area and causing more casualties," said Rosen.

"Is it really as my mother said, that humans are not worth saving?" Diana said in a daze.

"I can't answer this question either. You need to find the answer yourself, but I can tell you what I know. Maybe it will be inspiring to you."

Rosen handed Diana a piece of sizzling ham sandwiched in bread, and then told her the history he knew.

In this process, he certainly could not avoid mixing in some personal opinions, such as the bad qualities of capitalism, the advanced nature of socialism, and so on.

Diana nodded repeatedly as she listened, and occasionally would speak out directly when she disagreed with something and discuss it with Rosen.

They chatted until very late, and Diana went to bed only after Rosen's repeated requests.
