Tomb Raider: What kind of heroine is she?

Chapter 5 I Won't Ignore You

Zhang Xingxing walked briskly into her yard. A pair of hands grabbed Zhang Xingxing who was about to open the door and dragged her out into the yard. Seeing that it was Ah San, Zhang Xingxing stopped struggling.

Remembering that he had promised to wait for him in the afternoon, Zhang Xingxing looked up at the night sky which was obviously getting late, and touched his nose a little guilty. He didn't remember sleeping at all. He looked at the little figure walking in front of him in the night. He couldn't see his expression, but the figure walked a little fast.

To be honest, Zhang Xingxing always felt guilty for standing up a child. She always felt that the little figure was accusing her of being an unreliable adult. Her conscience was aching, and she was thinking about doing something to explain herself. Then she was pulled to sit on the steps in the yard.

Ah San didn't say anything, but took out a coarse grain steamed bread from her clothes and handed it to Zhang Xingxing. Zhang Xingxing didn't react, but after seeing her movements, she took Zhang Xingxing's hand and opened her hand, and put the steamed bread in her hand with her other hand. She said simply, "It's for you, eat it."

Zhang Xingxing lowered his head, feeling a little uncomfortable. In fact, Zhang Xingxing discovered that materials were not abundant in this era. Many children were thin and looked undernourished. Not to mention the children who did not complete their tasks like him this afternoon. Their thin faces only had eyes, which were big and bright.

Even this seemingly capable Ah San was actually thin. It was obvious that this family didn't care about the orphans they picked up. At most, they provided some food and shelter for those who were valuable. Nothing more, as could be seen from the fact that they didn't even have a name.

Zhang Xingxing was not ungrateful. It was good enough that the Zhang family was willing to provide them with these things. At least they were not homeless and hungry. But compared with those carefree and healthy children in modern times, Zhang Xingxing always felt a little bit sorry.

Zhang Xingxing pinched the steamed bread and didn't refuse it. He didn't ask where it came from, but just silently divided it into two halves and gave the other half to Ah San.

Ah San was stunned for a moment. It was the first time someone shared food with him. No one in the Zhang family would do that. If someone gave him something, he would eat it all. Because not every meal could be filled.

He took it and asked, "Why?"

Zhang Xingxing thought he was asking why she broke the appointment, and she was at a loss to explain: "I'm sorry, Third Brother. I didn't mean to forget our appointment. I fell asleep outside, and it was this time when I woke up. You are my best friend, please don't be angry? Don't ignore me. Next time I will never run around again, you say east and I will never run west..."

Ah San glanced at the girl beside him who was flustered because of the hasty explanation, and was happy for what she said about her best friend. Her eyes were bright and sincere. It seemed that you were the person she trusted the most. She lowered her head and looked at the other half of the steamed bread in her hand. Ah San unconsciously slowed down her tone and explained: "I won't ignore you. I'm not angry, Xiaowu."

Zhang Xingxing was very happy to get the reply, and the little man in his heart danced and scattered flowers happily. He breathed a sigh of relief, and his big brother was saved.

Ah San looked at Zhang Xingxing who hadn't even started eating yet and said awkwardly, "Eat when you're hungry."

Zhang Xingxing hadn't thought about it, but now that he remembered it, he felt extremely hungry. He quickly stuffed half of the steamed bread into his mouth. It was hard, cold, and a little dry, but it tasted a little sweet. It was just a little choking.

Ah San was about to give her the other half. Zhang Xingxing looked into Ah San's eyes and said, "Aren't you hungry?"

As soon as he said he wasn't hungry, he heard Ah San's stomach rumble. Ah San's ears suddenly turned red, and he emphasized with a bit of embarrassment: "I really ate."

Zhang Xingxing looked at the arrogant and stubborn Ah San, and the villain in her heart burst out laughing, but she didn't dare to smile like that, for fear of making people angry. She shook Ah San's hand and nodded, saying, "I know that San Ge has eaten, and San Ge shared with me, and I also want to share with San Ge, isn't that what friends are like. San Ge, eat quickly, I want to look at the moon here. You accompany me."

After saying that, he turned his head and looked at the bright moon in the sky. Ah San nodded and started to eat the remaining half, not wasting any of it.

The two children finished their meal quietly, then walked back hand in hand, tiptoeing back to the room without disturbing anyone.
