Chapter 14: The Train from the Starry Sky
April, late spring
"It's a rare holiday, where would you like to go, Kafka?"
While washing the dishes, she asked the person sitting in the living room watching TV.
"Go...to the mountain." The other party replied after only a moment's hesitation.
Fan Mu didn't seem surprised at all by this answer, and a helpless expression appeared on his face.
"Do you want me to take you to another city to play?" He asked: "Summer is coming soon, it's a good season for travel!"
"No!" Kafka shook her head and rejected the proposal. "It's the same for me wherever I am."
She is self-aware enough to know that she does not have many emotions and cannot experience joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness like normal people. Therefore, she does not have much sensitivity to other cities and other scenery.
Besides, she didn't want to cause trouble for Fan Mu.
"Is that so?" Fan Mu's face showed a hint of disappointment, but his words were still gentle, "Well, let's go to the back mountain and take a look later!"
"Come to think of it, do you remember what you asked me last year?" he suddenly said with a smile.
There was no answer. Even though his back was turned to Kafka, Fanmu seemed to see her tilting her head and looking at him.
"I remember last spring you asked me why the peach blossoms withered. In autumn you asked me why the swallows flew away. Why did the willows wither?"
"It's almost time now!"
Kafka tilted her head and thought for a while before she remembered these things. She couldn't remember them clearly, and if they hadn't been brought up suddenly, she wouldn't have remembered them at all.
On the back mountain.
The weather is clear today, the sun is shining, and the breeze is blowing, shining on the earth, bringing endless warmth and comfort.
Fanmu walked slowly in front wearing sunglasses, and Kafka followed beside him.
Perhaps because she had seen the scenery there thousands of times, she did not take a stroll like Fan Mu, but walked with a purpose, without looking around.
Seeing this scene out of the corner of his eye, Fan Mu began to doubt whether he was wasting his time by doing this.
Kafka seemed to have no interest in anything around her, and it seemed as if she couldn't refuse my request, so she came out to deal with me. Perhaps she would rather stay in the flower shop than in the back mountain.
Is it because I have seen too much that I am no longer interested? Or has it been like this from the beginning, that I am not interested in any of the surrounding scenery?
If it was the latter, then why didn't I notice her perfunctory attitude before?
"Look, Kafka, we came just in time. The peach blossoms are in bloom!"
Walking to a wild peach tree, Fan Mu looked at the peach blossoms in full bloom in front of him and said.
The blooming peach blossoms are like pink gems, crystal clear. Under the sunlight, they emit charming light. Even before you get close, you can smell the faint floral fragrance.
"Yeah." Kafka looked at the lonely peach tree in front of her and nodded slightly without saying anything.
There is a peach tree in front of me, surrounded by weeds. Perhaps because the weeds steal the nutrients, the peach flowers don’t look very beautiful.
"Uh... let's go check out Yang Liu!" Seeing that she didn't seem interested at all, Fan Mu walked to the other side, "Yang Liu should have grown leaves by now!"
The two came to a lake not far away. Willows on the lake surface stretched out their slender leaves, and the breeze created ripples on the water.
Kafka still showed no interest on her face. She just stood beside him and looked at the scenery on the lake from afar.
"..."
While looking at the scenery, she didn't notice that Fan Mu had a complicated expression on his face.
Forget it, just forget about being interested. He just came here to see these things anyway. He wouldn’t have come to see them if he hadn’t suddenly remembered them.
I looked around but didn't see any swallows flying back.
I sighed inwardly and decided to go back!
Thinking of this, Fan Mu just opened his mouth, but was interrupted by Kafka before he could say a word.
"Big brother, look what that is?" Kafka tilted her head and pointed her finger at the sky.
"What?" Fan Mu looked in the direction of her finger, but he couldn't see anything because of the sunglasses.
"Here it comes!" Another indifferent voice sounded.
Fan Mu rubbed his eyes gently, and when he looked again, he saw a train rushing towards them at high speed!
"Train? What...isn't right!" Before he could wonder why a train was falling from the sky, without hesitation, purple spots crawled up his cheeks, and he picked up Kafka and ran away.
boom!
The train landed without making much noise. A strong wind blew around and dust flew everywhere. Fortunately, the train did not fall towards the two of them, but landed not far in front of them.
"What the hell is this!" Fan Mu protected Kafka in his arms and looked vigilantly at the train falling from the sky in front of him.
The train in front of us looks to be about a hundred meters long and is black and gray all over. It doesn't look anything special overall, just a little more gorgeous than an ordinary train.
The smoke dissipated, and the side door of the train in front of me began to slowly open. Some white smoke came out from inside, and a figure was vaguely visible in the smoke.
Fan Mu didn't want to meddle in other people's business and planned to turn around and leave immediately. No matter what this thing was, with his many years of experience, he knew without thinking that he couldn't afford to offend it.
But after running two steps, before he could run far, he heard a gentle and elegant voice with a hint of apology coming from behind him.
"Please stay, handsome guy. We mean no harm to you!"
The moment he heard that gentle voice, Fan Mu's pupils suddenly shrank, and his whole body stiffened and stood still, as motionless as a sculpture.
He looked back mechanically and saw that the person who spoke was a 'girl' with fiery red hair like blazing fire and a delicate face. On her face was a gentle smile, reserved and a little childish.
Wearing a fiery red outfit, he looks like a student.
As soon as he saw her for the first time, Fan Mu instantly realized that he had recognized the wrong person. He should have known it long ago, but he still had a glimmer of fantasy deep in his heart. He always imagined that she just couldn't find the way home, not that she didn't want him anymore.
Is it an isotope?
Similar, very similar, just a little younger, and the aura around her is different. However, if Sister Himeko hadn't been infected with Honkai, she would be as happy as she is now!
"Ji Zi...Sister." Fan Mu murmured subconsciously. He spoke so softly that even Kafka, who was holding him in his arms, couldn't hear it, but she noticed that his eyes were slightly red.
Kafka turned her gaze to the person in front of her. Is this older sister a very important person to her older brother?
