The first time in history

Chapter 157 Qing'er Protects Rui Yuhuan

Night fell over the dense forest, leaves rustled in the breeze, and Rui Yuhuan's carriage was moving slowly forward. The light of the torches swayed in the darkness, illuminating the road ahead.

Rui Yuhuan sat in the gorgeous carriage, his face dignified and calm. Since he was assassinated, a series of events in the past few days have come suddenly, and he had to return to the capital early.

He didn't believe that Ruishen would send someone to assassinate him. He knew that this was a conspiracy by someone, but it had not been finally confirmed.

Judging from the news he had received over the past few days, he seemed to have made a judgment. However, Rui Yuhuan would rather believe that all this was fake.

He sighed softly and closed his eyes, unaware that danger was approaching quietly.

Suddenly, a sharp arrow streaked across the night sky like a meteor, shooting towards the carriage with a sharp whistling sound. Wen Zijian instantly became alert and shouted, "There is an assassin! Protect the emperor!" The guards immediately took action, raised their shields, and surrounded the emperor's carriage.

Then, more sharp arrows shot from all directions, like a rainstorm. The guards were not afraid at all, and used their shields to block the arrows while drawing their swords to fight the enemy.

"Kill!" With a roar, a group of assassins in black rushed out of the woods. They held sharp knives, their eyes were full of coldness and murderous intent. The guards immediately started a fierce battle with the assassins.

Swords clashed, sparks flew. The guards fought desperately with the assassins with their superb martial arts and tenacious fighting spirit. They had only one belief in their hearts, which was to protect the emperor's safety.

The assassins were clearly well prepared, they worked in perfect harmony and their moves were fierce. Some were good at close combat, brandishing swords and pouncing on the guards like tigers; others were good at long-range attacks, constantly shooting sharp arrows, bringing great pressure to the guards.

While directing the battle, Wen Zijian paid close attention to the emperor's safety. Seeing more and more assassins, he shouted loudly: "Brothers, for the emperor, kill!" The guards were greatly encouraged by the order and fought the assassins more bravely.

During the fierce battle, guards were constantly injured and fell, but none of them retreated.

As time passed, the battle became more and more intense. The assassins seemed to realize the urgency of time and began to increase their attack strength, trying to break through the guards' defense line.

Just when the guards were beginning to feel exhausted, an assassin suddenly broke through the defense line and rushed towards the emperor's carriage.

Wen Zijian was quick-witted and rushed over immediately, engaging in a thrilling duel with the assassin.

The two men fought back and forth, swords interlaced. Wen Zijian gradually gained the upper hand. Just as he was about to give the assassin a fatal blow, another assassin attacked him from behind. Wen Zijian was unable to dodge and was stabbed in the shoulder by the assassin.

The two assassins attacked from the front and back, and just when Wen Zijian was unable to take care of the other party, Rui Yuhuan jumped off the imperial chariot with a big knife in his hand and chopped down one of the assassins with one knife.

When Wen Zijian saw the emperor appear, he shouted loudly: "Protect the emperor!"

Tao Jun also chopped down an assassin and went to protect Rui Yuhuan.

When Wen Zijian saw that a guard was in danger, he shook the sword in his hand, rushed over and cut off the assassin's arm with one sword, but his back was also stabbed by a spear.

Blood stained his armor, but he did not flinch. He gritted his teeth and continued to fight the assassin.

When the other guards saw the emperor appear, they all rushed over to support him. Under the guards' tenacious resistance, the assassins' attacks were gradually contained. However, they did not give up and were still looking for opportunities to try to break through the defense line again.

Just when the two sides were at a stalemate, Qing'er and Zi'er appeared in the woods like ghosts. They were dressed in black and had their faces covered.

They looked at each other, then simultaneously drew their swords and rushed towards the assassin. Their movements were light and agile, like two swallows flying through the flowers.

The swords flashed and shone coldly. Qing'er and Zi'er's swordsmanship was as smooth as flowing water, and every move was deadly. The assassins were unable to resist their attacks and retreated one after another.

Qing'er's sword was like lightning, instantly piercing the vital points of several assassins. Zi'er also kept changing her body shape, dodging the assassins' attacks and looking for opportunities to counterattack.

Under the attack of Qing'er and Zi'er, the assassins began to fall into confusion. They didn't know where these two mysterious figures came from.

Just as Qing'er and Zi'er were gradually approaching Rui Yuhuan, a black shadow swooped down from the tree and stabbed Rui Yuhuan in the back with a sword.

"Your Majesty, be careful!" In desperation, Qing'er leaped up and the tip of the sword pierced her left arm.

"Ah!" Qing'er couldn't help but scream. Rui Yuhuan turned around and saw Qing'er lying on the ground, bleeding. He roared and chopped the sneak attacking assassin into two pieces.

Qing'er did not flinch at all. She gritted her teeth and continued to fight the assassin.

Under the attack of the imperial guards, the assassins gradually lost their fighting spirit and began to flee, trying to escape from this dangerous place.

Qing'er and Zi'er did not chase the assassin, but turned to the emperor's carriage. They saluted Rui Yuhuan and turned to leave.

Rui Yuhuan was filled with gratitude and curiosity when he saw these two mysterious figures. He asked loudly, "Who are you? Why do you want to save me?"

Qing'er and Zi'er did not answer. They just looked at the emperor silently, then floated away and disappeared into the night.

Rui Yuhuan looked at the direction they left. He knew that if these two mysterious heroines had not appeared, they might have been in dire straits.

It was their intervention that disrupted the assassins' formation, giving them the opportunity to turn defeat into victory.

Rui Yuhuan took a deep breath and glanced at the guards beside him. They all looked nervous and obviously had not recovered from the shocking moment just now.

"Wen Zijian." Rui Yuhuan wiped his sword on the body of an assassin. "What do you think?"

"Your Majesty." Wen Zijian bowed and said, "I think these assassins are all from the outlaws. They have martial arts from all kinds of schools."

Rui Yuhuan pointed with his knife, "Where are those two women?"

"Your Majesty..." Wen Zijian looked up at Rui Yuhuan, "Your Majesty heard that the personal guards of the Fifth Prince are two women with extraordinary martial arts skills. I wonder if the two women just now are..."

Rui Yuhuan stabbed his sword on the ground and said, "If one of them hadn't blocked the sword from behind for me, you wouldn't have an emperor."

"Yes." Wen Zijian quickly knelt down, "It is my fault for not protecting you well. Please punish me, Your Majesty."

"Your Majesty." Gao Quanfu gently took the sword from Rui Yuhuan's hand.

Rui Yuhuan looked at Wen Zijian who was covered in blood, "Get up, you have done your best. I don't blame you." He looked around, "I haven't chopped anyone for more than ten years, but I chopped a few people today. It seems that my sword is still sharp!"

"Your Majesty is so brave and heroic!"

"Your Majesty is so brave and mighty!"...

Everyone knelt down and shouted.

Rui Yuhuan, who was about to step onto the imperial chariot, turned back and whispered to Gao Quanfu who was supporting him: "Rui Chen...are you okay?"

"His Highness the Fifth Prince is fine." Gao Quanfu whispered.

Rui Yuhuan looked around again and said, "Pass the order down and return to the capital immediately!"

Sitting back in the imperial chariot, Rui Yuhuan coughed loudly. He quickly covered his mouth with a handkerchief. After a violent cough, Rui Yuhuan saw a bright red blood stain on the handkerchief.
