Time Travel: Conditional Wealth

Chapter 25 Visit and Study

The snow here comes earlier than elsewhere.

The heavy Cold Dew in the morning and evening had turned into white snow. Late at night, the snow covered the entire village. Because there was a kang in the house, we did not feel cold and instead slept soundly.

Running has been suspended due to the snow, so maybe we have to wait until the evening to start.

Early in the morning, laborers from every household began to clear the snow in the yard, including outside the gate. The autumn harvest had not officially ended yet, and a large amount of corn had not been harvested, so the transportation roads had to be guaranteed.

In He Xi's family, there are three boys and three girls, so it is basically not the turn of women to do this kind of work. He's mother is busy making the two quilts, He Xi is preparing breakfast, and He Fei is lighting the stove and feeding the chickens, ducks and geese. It is simple and warm.

Lu Jinan has a bad stomach and cannot eat hard or irritating food. The food at home is basically cooked according to his taste. Today, He Xi wants to eat corn porridge, so then they have two kinds of porridge. It doesn't matter if it's a luxury.

Accompanied by salted duck eggs and side dishes, life was peaceful and simple. Before breakfast was over, people came to visit and learn.

In the yard, there were some sounds of footsteps on the snow and voices, not too loud and maintaining basic politeness.

Lu Jinan frowned and said, "Have you finished eating? If not, don't bother with me. I'm here."

He Xi really wanted to refuse. He just finished his meal and didn't even give him time to breathe. He was too impatient. It was not like he had the arrogant and contemptuous attitude of yesterday.

He's father looked at Lu Jinan and then at He Xi, and sat down again after standing up. He was troubled as he couldn't show off his family's outstanding contributions to others. What should he do?

He's mother scolded He's father: "What are you busy with? The children haven't finished their meals yet. Let them wait."

He's father didn't dare to say anything. He could only ask the visitor to sit down and drink tea. The tea was of the best quality, given by Lu Jinan's grandfather.

He Xi looked up and saw the same elders from yesterday. When they saw that He Xi did not stand up and greet them respectfully, there was a hint of displeasure on their faces.

Elder Zhao glanced at the four children who were still eating and asked, "Is it a bad time for us to come?"

Lu Jinan saw the expressions on their faces before, and now he spoke without even raising his eyes: "Then you leave?"

Elder Zhao was stunned for a moment, then his expression returned to normal: "Young man, being reckless is not a good thing. Are you the educated youth who just came here this year?"

Lu Jinan didn't say anything.

Xiao Yan finished the last bite of egg and rubbed his hands: "Aren't you talking nonsense? Did you see us last year?"

It was the first time that he was treated like this by two juniors. He couldn't hold his face and pounded his crutch on the ground with a "bang bang" sound.

The tone was that of a scolding: "You...you disrespectful people..."

Lu Jinan put down his chopsticks and bowl, raised his eyelids, and said in a cold tone: "Yeah, I learned it from you, an old man."

His answer was careless and perfunctory. But the clan elder Zhao was so angry that he almost fainted, his body was crooked and his eyes were rolled up.

He Xi tugged at Lu Jinan's arm, raised her head and looked at him: "I know you are defending me, but now that I am like this, my parents will be in trouble."

Lu Jinan looked at the old man with a stiff neck, then stood up and began to clear the table. He Xi tried to help but was pushed away by him.

He Xi thought, how had she offended the domineering president?

He Xi looked coldly at the clan elder Zhao who was still pretending to faint. Their people did not intend to move him to the kang to rest. The cold ground was perhaps unbearable for him. His eyelids trembled slightly and the corners of his mouth twitched slightly uncontrollably.

He Xi, who was quick-witted and quick-handed, quickly squatted down, raised his hand and pinched the other person's philtrum fiercely, with such force that it was like a mountain crushing an egg, forcing his chin to retract inward. With a muffled groan, he suddenly brushed He Xi's hand away, his eyes as fierce as a wolf's.

He Xi let out a long sigh of relief and patted his chest gently: "Luckily I learned first aid, the person should be fine, right?"

The other person thought to himself that if he didn’t wake up, he would probably be “sent” away by your family.

The corner of the elder Zhao's mouth couldn't stop twitching, and he finally uttered "Ouch" and looked at He Xi's feet: "Ouch, my hand."

He Xi and others realized that his hand was stepped on by He Xi. He raised the stepped hand tremblingly and held it in front of his eyes, looking at it carefully with his dim old eyes.

He Xi apologized: "I didn't see it, so I rushed to rescue people."

Lu Jinan's Adam's apple rolled and the corners of his mouth curved slightly.

I visited the greenhouse yesterday, and today I came to ask some detailed questions. Below is the Q&A session.

Clan elder Zhao will not participate in it for the time being.

Clan elder Jiang glanced at clan elder Zhao and coughed lightly, as if to say that he had finally come to his senses and allowed you to jump around and suppress him all day long.

“Does the greenhouse have to have a curvature?”

"Yes, a small amount of snow can slide down the slope, reducing unnecessary manpower expenditure."

"Is it okay not to build a hut at the entrance and exit?"

"Okay, you must be extra careful when going in and out. Vegetables will look like they've been hit by frost when exposed to cold winds. The supply and marketing cooperative won't want such vegetables."

He Xi patiently answered the elders' questions, while Lu Jinan watched silently. He noticed that He Xi's lips were a little dry, so he picked up the thermos on the ground, poured a glass of water and handed it to her.

He Xi looked at him gratefully, took the cup and took a sip. At this time, the clan elder Jiang asked another question: "How do we choose the materials for this greenhouse?"

He Xi thought for a moment and replied, "It is best to choose materials with good light transmittance and strong heat preservation performance, such as plastic film or glass. However, plastic film is cheaper and easier to install and replace."

The elders nodded, indicating that they understood. Then, they asked some other questions, and He Xi answered them one by one.

After talking for a long time, He Xi still didn't see the last step of the cup of water against her lips. Facing the siege of the elders, she was not panicked, but just had a headache. They couldn't hear, so they thought you couldn't hear either, so you had to shout to each other to talk.

People passing by He Xi's house thought there was a quarrel inside, but they were really just communicating in a friendly and civilized manner.

Finally, the elders left He Xi's house with satisfaction. He Xi breathed a sigh of relief and sat on a chair to rest. Lu Jinan walked over to her, gently pinched her shoulders, and said, "You handled it well, not bad."

He Xi smiled and said, "Thank you for your compliment. However, I really hope that there won't be a future where you forget what you said. Can't the young people in your family come?"

Lu Jinan nodded, he understood He Xi's thoughts. He comforted He Xi, maybe he was afraid that you had selfish motives? After all, they thought that their face was greater than that of young people, and you wouldn't dare to lie to them if they came in person.

But what He Xi thought was that the future rural development would need more knowledgeable and capable people to promote it, rather than elders who relied on their seniority.
