Keeping the promise

Chapter 164: Furious Dog

Everyone at the table had their own thoughts, and the atmosphere was dull and depressing. However, Li Yunting ignored the strange looks and sarcastic words from others, and only focused on picking up the dishes that Zheng Wancheng liked, and whispered to her to eat more.

After dinner, Li Yunting and Mr. Li went to the study. Before leaving, he gently shook Zheng Wancheng's hand and said softly, "If you don't want to stay in the living room, go to the garden and I'll come to you later."

Zheng Wancheng nodded, and watched Li Yunting and Mr. Li disappear at the door of the study. She could feel the unfriendly gazes of the Li family members around her, and she felt annoyed, so she stood up and left the living room, walking towards the garden.

In the garden, the fragrance of flowers filled the air and the breeze blew on his face. Zheng Wancheng walked slowly, feeling a little more relaxed.

In the study, Li Yunting and Old Master Li were having an intense conversation.

Li Yunting looked directly into Old Man Li's eyes and warned him, "Old Man, you'd better not have any ideas about my child. I came to the old house today to let those people with bad intentions know that anyone who dares to touch my child will die!"

Mr. Li's face darkened, "Yun Ting, what are you talking about? I am doing this for the Li family and for your sake!"

Li Yunting sneered, "For the Li family? What you mean by for the Li family is to ignore my feelings and the safety of my wife and children?"

Old Master Li slammed the table, "How dare you! How dare you talk to me? All the decisions I make are for the family."

Li Yunting did not back down. "Family? You can't sacrifice my family! You couldn't protect my parents before, but I'm making this clear today. If anyone dares to hurt them, I will never let them go!"

The atmosphere in the study was tense, with the grandfather and grandson refusing to give in to each other and the situation at a stalemate.

Old Master Li was so angry that he was gasping for breath. He pointed at Li Yunting and said, "You rebellious son, why don't you understand my painstaking efforts?"

Li Yunting's eyes were firm, and he responded in a tough tone: "Old man, I just want to protect the people I care about. I don't want you to be so weak."

Mr. Li was silent for a moment, then he sighed and said, "Yun Ting, I just want to balance the family, but the distribution of the shares has indeed affected the entire family, causing dissatisfaction among the family members."

Li Yunting frowned and said, "That's because they are greedy. Wan Cheng and the child should have been properly protected."

Mr. Li said slowly: "Then how do you think this matter should end? We can't keep on being deadlocked like this."

Li Yunting pondered for a moment and said, "I, Li Yunting, don't care about that. I just want them to know that they must respect Wan Cheng and the child and not do anything excessive."

Mr. Li nodded and said, "Okay, I'll consider this matter again."

Li Yunting responded, "As long as others don't deliberately make things difficult for her or threaten her, there will be nothing wrong with it."

After saying that, Li Yunting turned and left the study, ready to go find Zheng Wancheng.

Zheng Wancheng was quietly waiting for Li Yunting in the garden, still wondering how the conversation in the study was going.

Suddenly, a frenzied dog barking broke the tranquility of the garden. A huge dog rushed out from nowhere at an extremely fast speed. Zheng Wancheng had no time to react before he was knocked to the ground by the dog.

She felt a sharp pain and fell to the ground. At this time, Li Yunting's aunt came over slowly. When she saw Zheng Wancheng's miserable appearance, her face showed no concern or sympathy, but a gloating expression.

Zheng Wancheng covered her stomach, her face pale, and raised her head with difficulty, begging, "Aunt, my stomach hurts, please, go and call Yun Ting."

However, Li Yunting's aunt folded her hands across her chest, looked at Zheng Wancheng coldly, with a sarcastic smile on her lips: "Hmph, can't you bear it? You think you can gain a foothold in the Li family? It's just a dream!" Her eyes were full of contempt and disgust, as if Zheng Wancheng's pain was a gratifying thing in her eyes.

Zheng Wancheng was in so much pain that he broke out in a cold sweat. He pleaded again with a trembling voice: "Aunt, please, save me, save the child."

But Li Yunting's aunt remained unmoved. She still stood there indifferently and said, "Don't expect me to help you. You asked for this. Who told you to cling to our Li family? This is your retribution."

Zheng Wancheng's heart instantly sank into an ice cellar. She never expected that Li Yunting's aunt would be so heartless.

The pain almost made her lose consciousness. She could only lie on the ground helplessly, hoping that Li Yunting would show up soon.

Time seemed to be extremely long, and every second was torture for Zheng Wancheng. However, Li Yunting's aunt watched Zheng Wancheng struggling in pain indifferently, as if she was watching a good show, without any intention of helping.

At this time, Zheng Wancheng's stomach pain became more and more severe, her eyes began to become blurry, and her consciousness gradually blurred. She felt a fear and despair she had never felt before.
