Chapter 63 Conducting Experiments
At this moment, there was a gentle knock on the door, and the door slowly opened, and Li Ming quietly walked in. His face showed a strong curiosity, "Fang'er, what are you looking at? From your expression, it seems that you have found something treasure."
"Brother Ming," Chen Fang raised his head, his eyes sparkling with excitement, "I found a method for making vaccines in an ancient medical book. We can try it!"
Li Ming frowned slightly, walked closer to her, lowered his head and carefully read the words in the book, "Vaccine? What is this? I have never heard of it."
"This is a method of stimulating an immune response by introducing weakened or inactivated pathogens into the body," Chen Fang explained excitedly. "This allows the human body to acquire disease resistance without getting sick."
"Really? This sounds like a fairy tale." Li Ming was still confused by this unfamiliar term. He sat opposite Chen Fang, with a little uneasiness in his eyes, "But, Fang'er, is this method reliable? Are you sure there is no risk?"
"I think we can give it a try." Chen Fang nodded firmly. The ancient book in front of her shone brightly in the candlelight, as if calling for her courage. "And this is the wisdom of ancient doctors and should not be forgotten."
Li Ming pondered silently, but was eventually infected by Chen Fang's enthusiasm. "Well, if you really want to do this, I'll accompany you. But we have to be careful not to let anyone know."
Chen Fang nodded with a determined smile on her face. "I'll go prepare the materials right away. Help me find some clean containers and get the herbs I need from the pharmacy."
A few days later, Chen Fang and Li Ming began their experiment. They sat in a small courtyard, surrounded by the aroma of herbs, and the sun shone through the leaves on them, as if giving them a layer of golden light. They carefully recorded every step in the ancient book, fearing that they would miss even a detail.
"Is this herbal medicine really effective?" Li Ming looked at the small bag of black powder in his hand with a hesitant expression.
"This is one of the key ingredients of the vaccine," Chen Fang explained carefully. "According to medical records, we need to mix it very carefully to ensure that every ingredient is just right."
"I think this process needs to be more rigorous." Li Ming reminded, his eyes full of worry, "We can't act rashly because of momentary excitement."
"I understand. I will take every step seriously." Chen Fang's voice was firm, "Not only for ourselves, but also for all those who need help."
The experiment gradually entered its climax. Chen Fang nervously mixed the liquid medicine, her palms were full of sweat. Li Ming silently guarded beside her, trying not to let any mistakes happen.
"Now we're going to give you the injection." Chen Fang took a deep breath and clenched the needle in her hand. "Are you ready?"
"If this is what you want, I will support you." Li Ming smiled and gave Chen Fang an encouraging look.
"Okay, I'll try." She cheered herself up, the corners of her mouth slightly raised, and her eyes flashed with expectation and courage. This was her hope for the future.
The two of them were in the courtyard, and everything seemed so tense and sacred. Chen Fang slowly brought the needle closer to her arm, and her heartbeat was particularly clear in the silence.
"Remember to take a deep breath." Li Ming whispered, as if gently soothing his tense nerves.
"I understand." Chen Fang tried to relax herself, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath. She gently inserted the needle into her skin, feeling a slight sting, and a mixture of expectation and fear surged in her heart.
"It's done." She said softly, opened her eyes, and looked at Li Ming, her face full of determination and confidence, "This is just the first step. Next we need to observe."
"No matter what the outcome is, I will be with you." Li Ming answered without hesitation, his eyes like the summer sunshine, warm and firm.
"Fang'er, are you ready?" Liu Hua walked out of the house, the sun shining on his face, he looked particularly energetic. He was holding a cloth bag in his hand, obviously he had prepared some necessary tools.
"I'm ready." Chen Fang smiled, holding an ancient medical book in her hand, full of confidence, "The herbs we need are all recorded in detail in it."
The two walked out of the courtyard side by side and walked along the path to the outside of the village. The wild flowers on the roadside were blooming in the morning light, and the breath of revival made people feel happy. "Fang'er, can you tell me what herbs we need?" Liu Hua asked as he walked, his face full of expectation and curiosity.
"First, we need 'Scutellaria baicalensis'. It has the effect of clearing away heat and detoxifying, and is suitable for use in vaccines." Chen Fang opened the medical book and pointed to Liu Hua, where pictures and characteristics of herbs were written. "Then there is 'Taraxacum mongolicum', which can enhance immunity."
"So where do we start looking?" Liu Hua asked, with a gleam of exploration in his eyes.
"There is an open space on the hillside outside the village, where there are many wild herbs. We can go and take a look." Chen Fang suggested, having already outlined the route to the hillside in his mind.
Soon, the two came to the hillside. The sun shone on the mountain, as if blessing their exploration. Chen Fang looked around carefully, "Look, there is a field of yellow flowers over there, that's 'Scutellaria baicalensis'."
Liu Hua followed the direction of her finger and walked towards the bushes. He lowered his head and looked carefully. After confirming that everything was correct, he began to dig carefully. "The roots of this flower must be handled carefully, and its petals must not be damaged." He said as he worked, his eyes full of determination.
"I know that the more precious the material is, the more carefully it should be treated." Chen Fang smiled slightly, feeling grateful for this partner who was willing to work together.
"Next, we need to find 'dandelion'." Chen Fang continued, walking beside Liu Hua, as if she had transformed into an herbal scholar, observing as she walked.
Soon, Liu Hua pointed to a clump of lush plants and said, "Those look like dandelions. Let's go take a look."
The two walked over and found that the dandelions there had strong roots and grew extremely luxuriantly, which was the ideal material for making vaccines. Chen Fang was delighted and secretly felt lucky that this trip was worthwhile.
"Let's dig them out." Liu Hua said excitedly. He picked up the dandelion roots with a knife and put them into a cloth bag.
"That's great." Chen Fang praised, her heart already full of anticipation for the next experiment.
As time went by, the two collected many kinds of herbs. The closer they were to success, the more excited Chen Fang became. She was sorting out the materials she had just found when she suddenly heard Liu Hua exclaim.
"Fang'er, come and see!" Liu Hua pointed excitedly to a rock, squatted down, his eyes sparkling.
Chen Fang walked over quickly and saw that he was holding a small bottle of glittering liquid in his hand. "What is this?"
"It looks like an extract of some kind of herb. Although I don't know what it is specifically, its color and luster are quite unique." Liu Hua observed carefully, his face full of excitement.
"This may be very helpful for our experiment." Chen Fang pondered for a moment, and a new idea emerged in his mind, "Maybe we can try to add it to the vaccine to enhance the effect."
"Then we need to confirm its ingredients first." Liu Hua said, holding the small bottle in his hand as if holding a symbol of hope.
As time went by, the two gradually filled the bags and finally found the herbs and liquids they needed, feeling extremely satisfied. "Today's harvest is quite rich, and we can start the preparations next." Liu Hua smiled at Chen Fang, his eyes full of light.
"Yes, we will conduct experiments starting tomorrow." Chen Fang was also inspired with endless fighting spirit. "I believe that these materials can help us make effective vaccines and save people like us."
