Chapter 54 Blurred Handwriting
Liu Hua pursed his lips and smiled slightly, "Of course, I don't want to miss any clues. There must be countless stories hidden behind the ancient tomb, we must dig hard!"
"I heard that there are many tombs here and the passages are complicated, so it's quite difficult to find them." Chen Fang said with some concern. She remembered the various legends she had heard about the ancient tombs before.
"Don't worry, we have maps, flashlights, and me, the 'exploration expert.'" Liu Hua patted his chest lightly, as if to encourage Chen Fang.
Chen Fang smiled slightly, but her heart was a little turbulent. She knew that this expedition was not only about finding clues, but also about challenging the unknown. "Okay, let's go in together."
The two of them entered the ancient tomb together. The cave entrance was cold and damp, and the surrounding stone walls exuded an ancient atmosphere under the light of the flashlight. Every step seemed to be stepping on the mark of history, and time seemed particularly solemn here.
"Look, these words on the wall should be ancient inscriptions." Liu Hua put the flashlight close to the wall and pointed at the blurry words excitedly.
"I can't recognize these words, but they should record something important." Chen Fang also leaned forward, trying to understand the meaning of the inscriptions.
"We can take a picture and then come back to ask an expert for advice," Liu Hua suggested, his eyes sparkling with a thirst for knowledge.
"Good idea! But let's find the passage first." Chen Fang listened attentively, and a faint echo seemed to be heard in the quiet space.
The two continued to walk deeper, exchanging their views on the ancient tomb from time to time. Suddenly, the light in front of them dimmed, and some unusual traces began to appear on the ground.
"What is this?" There was a hint of surprise in Chen Fang's voice, and she knelt down to observe it carefully.
"It looks like footprints. Someone must have passed by recently." Liu Hua said in a low voice with a serious look on his face.
"We have to be careful, we may encounter some unexpected things." Chen Fang reminded carefully.
Liu Hua nodded in agreement, tightened his grip on the flashlight, and said in a low voice: "Let's go, let's move on." He led Chen Fang and slowly moved forward.
Not long after they walked, they saw a circular door in front of them. It was beautifully carved with patterns, and it seemed to be the entrance to another space. The air around them seemed to become extremely heavy at this moment.
"This door seems to be very old, but it is glowing with a faint light." Chen Fang walked forward to check it out curiously.
"I think there may be a big secret hidden in here." Liu Hua's eyes were firm and his hand reached for the edge of the door.
"Can you take another closer look? What if something goes wrong..." Chen Fang felt uneasy and her heart beat faster.
"I'll be careful." Liu Hua turned around and nodded at Chen Fang, slowly raised his hand, and gently pushed open the door.
The door creaked, as if time had stopped at this moment. The two held their breath and slowly walked into a wide hall, surrounded by towering stone pillars with almost unrecognizable plants entwined on the pillars, and a few bats flying above.
"Wow, it's spectacular!" Chen Fang couldn't help but exclaim.
"This must be the tomb owner's hall." Liu Hua said excitedly, quickening his pace, and the two walked side by side into the center of the hall.
The dust licking the walls and the moss-covered ground made the entire hall look even more ancient. In the center stood a huge sarcophagus, surrounded by several funerary objects of various shapes, emitting a faint glow.
"These burial objects look very precious." Liu Hua's gaze lingered on those objects, his eyes full of amazement.
"But could these things have any mechanisms? The ancients were really cunning." Chen Fang looked around, feeling a little wary.
"Let me try." Liu Hua walked towards the sarcophagus impatiently, but Chen Fang held him back.
"Wait a minute, it might be dangerous!" Chen Fang's tone was nervous.
Liu Hua smiled and said, "I'm just observing it, not touching it directly."
At this moment, neither of them noticed that the ancient inscriptions on the wall began to flicker with a faint light, and rolled up a light mist, transforming into images of ancient scenes, making people feel as if traveling through time and space.
"This is..." Chen Fang said in surprise, his eyes full of disbelief.
"Look, maybe this is the entrance to another era!" Liu Hua's face was full of excitement, and his mind seemed to have begun galloping through that ancient history.
"Look at these symbols," Zhang Xue pointed at the stone wall at the entrance of the cave, her voice low and excited, "They seem to be explaining something important."
Li Ming observed carefully, frowning slightly. "The shapes of these symbols are similar to those I have seen in ancient books before. They are probably some kind of code or sacrificial symbol. We have to be careful."
"What do you think is inside?" Zhang Xue's eyes sparkled with curiosity, as if the excitement of adventure had overshadowed her inner fear.
"Who knows, it could be a treasure, or it could be a trap." Li Ming thought seriously, secretly alert in his heart, "We must walk carefully and not act rashly."
"Then let's go in!" Zhang Xue's face was full of excitement for adventure, her eyes were firm, and it seemed that she had made up her mind.
Li Ming sighed, but he couldn't suppress his desire to explore the ancient tomb. He nodded, "Okay, but we have to keep in touch and try not to get separated."
The two of them stepped carefully into the dark cave entrance. As their footsteps echoed, the shadows around them seemed to begin to shift. The humid air in the cave blew in, with a hint of mold, making people shudder.
"Why is it so cold here?" Zhang Xue's voice sounded particularly thin in the empty tunnel.
Li Ming looked around, feeling a little uneasy. "Ancient tombs are generally quite humid, don't worry." But a hint of hesitation appeared in his voice. The environment of ancient tombs is always accompanied by unpredictable dangers.
After walking a short distance, they found some dirt and rubble scattered on the wall, as if someone had just been there. "There's something strange here, maybe it's a tomb robber." Zhang Xue exclaimed, looking alert.
"Let's go quickly, don't let them find us." Li Ming's voice was full of nervousness. In his opinion, the danger of this expedition was far from as simple as he had initially imagined.
As we continued to go deeper into the cave, the light ahead gradually dimmed, and the strange symbols we had seen earlier began to become clearly visible. The wall was covered with a faint glow, as if some mysterious ore was glowing, and the symbols were also flickering in the light.
"Wow, so beautiful!" Zhang Xue's eyes were attracted and she couldn't help but move closer to the wall to see the details of the symbols.
"Don't get too close!" Li Ming reached out and held her, his face showing worry. "These things may have ancient curses. We must keep our distance."
"What are you talking about, Li Ming? I'm just admiring." Zhang Xue stuck out her tongue playfully, but was still held tightly by Li Ming.
"Neither you nor I know the meaning of these symbols. Caution is the only option." Li Ming said in a firm tone, his eyes revealing an unquestionable look.
Zhang Xue was slightly startled, and forced herself to put away her smile, nodded, and let Li Ming lead her. "Okay, then what should we do?"
“I remember ancient books mentioned a certain ritual that might require some specific items to decipher the secrets of these symbols.” Li Ming said slowly, the seriousness on his face making the atmosphere heavy.
"We should look around and see if there are any clues." Zhang Xue suggested in a low voice, with a hint of determination in her eyes.
"Indeed, there seems to be a larger room ahead." Li Ming noticed that the cave wall ahead was gradually getting wider and the sound was getting louder. He pointed to the darkness ahead and led Zhang Xue forward.
As they entered the room, the moonlight poured down through the cracks above, illuminating an ancient altar in the center of the room. On the altar was a golden instrument inlaid with sparkling gems, and surrounded by mysterious symbols.
"Is this the legendary sacrificial vessel?" Zhang Xue covered her mouth, her eyes full of surprise, "It looks so beautiful!"
"We are crazy, this is really too risky!" Li Ming swallowed, his fear of the unknown deepened, but curiosity drove him to approach the sacrificial vessel.
"Maybe we can try to decipher these symbols." Li Ming took a deep breath and still focused his attention on the symbols on the altar. The intertwined patterns enveloped them like the mist of time.
