The Tao is far away

Chapter 27: Master Lin

Qingshan Town is located at the foot of the Mulan Mountains. It has a flat terrain and the streets are paved with bluestone.

The ancient pavilions on both sides have flying eaves and pointed corners, and the traces of time can be seen between the carved beams and painted buildings. The moss on the corrugated roofs makes the whole town filled with an ancient atmosphere.

At a table on the second floor of Qingshan Inn, two teenagers were immersed in the wonderful experience of delicious food.

They cleared the food from their plates at astonishing speed, like hungry ghosts stepping back into the mortal world, leaving no trace behind.

In just a few minutes, the table that was originally filled with various delicacies was cleared away, leaving only scattered tableware and scattered vegetable leaves.

These two people are Wang Chi and Erhu.

After leaving the swamp, Wang Chi arrived at Qingshan Town, and after much trouble he finally found Erhu, who was starving.

The shopkeeper downstairs said to the waiter beside him: "Waiter, those two upstairs look dirty. I'm afraid they are going to dine for free. Go ask them."

"Yes, shopkeeper."

The waiter looked at the two people who were already leaning back in their chairs, and said with a hint of contempt: "Gentlemen, are you satisfied with the food?"

"Satisfied." Wang Chi replied.

This is absolutely true. Just think about how simple his food was when he lived in the mountains. If he hadn't gone hunting with Erhu often, he would have barely tasted meat all year round.

"Now that we're done eating, let's pay the bill."

Only then did Wang Chi notice that the man was covering his nose while speaking.

Feeling unhappy, he still gestured to Erhu to pay - when they separated, Wang Chi gave all the money to Erhu.

Erhu looked embarrassed and hesitated.

The waiter next to him saw this and immediately became furious: "What? Are you really planning to eat a free meal?"

Wang Chi frowned and asked in a low voice: "What's going on? Where is all that money?"

Erhu lowered his head and said a little embarrassedly: "Ergou, the money...the money was robbed by several people."

Wang Chi was stunned and speechless.

Don’t tell me earlier!

The waiter looked at the two men talking to each other, as if they were plotting something illegal, and his face became even gloomier.

He urged impatiently: "Hurry up, don't dawdle, give me the money!"

The shopkeeper also rushed over upon hearing the news.

Wang Chi took a deep breath, knowing that the current situation was extremely unfavorable to them. The guests around him cast curious and even contemptuous glances at them.

"Little brother, please be patient." Wang Chi tried his best to remain calm. "We did encounter some minor troubles, but it was not intentional. Please wait for a moment. We will definitely give you the money."

The waiter snorted coldly, obviously not believing it: "I think you have bad intentions! You dare to come here to eat and drink without money, it's really unreasonable!"

Wang Chi knew he was in the wrong, so he remained silent.

"Okay, it's just a meal, I'll pay for them." At this time, a man about twenty years old sitting near the window spoke.

His voice was relaxed and casual, and he didn't seem to care about the cost of the meal.

This man is handsome and elegant, with delicate features as if they were specially carved by God. His clothes are exquisite and colorful, which makes him particularly eye-catching.

The sunlight shining through the window onto him added a bit of mystery.

"Oh, Mr. Lin, I'm sorry to have embarrassed you." The shopkeeper said with a flattering look on his face.

"You two, why don't you thank Master Lin?" the waiter said to them, his tone both reproachful and urgent.

Looking at the attitudes of these two people and Master Lin, Wang Chi pondered in his heart, with a hint of curiosity flashing in his eyes.

Wang Chi hurriedly pulled Erhu to bow to Master Lin: "Thank you Master Lin for your generosity. We are very grateful."

Master Lin smiled slightly and waved his hand, indicating that there was no need to be polite.

His manners were elegant and calm, and his bearing was extraordinary, which made people feel a sense of respect for him.

"It's just a trivial matter, not worth mentioning." Master Lin said lightly, then turned his head and continued to appreciate the scenery outside the window.

Just as the two were about to leave, a voice suddenly appeared in Wang Chi's mind: "Daoyou, how are you?"

The voice was playful and teasing.

Wang Chi looked around vigilantly and found that Master Lin was looking at him meaningfully, with a strange light flashing in his eyes.

Wang Chi asked Situ in his heart why the immortal cultivator didn't tell him.

"Oh, I didn't notice. It's just a fifth-level ant." Situ's voice was filled with contempt and disdain, as if he didn't take that Master Lin seriously at all.

……

Wang Chi was speechless. He didn't expect that Mr. Lin was just a fifth-level ant in Situ's eyes.

Just as Wang Chi was about to answer Master Lin's words, Master Lin waved his hand and said in a voice transmission: "There are too many people here, you can come to my guest room tonight to chat."

Wang Chi nodded and became more curious about this Master Lin.

After the two left, Wang Chi found a hidden alley and said unhappily, "Erhu, what happened? Who stole the money?"

Erhu lowered his head and shamefully told the whole story.

It turned out that after Erhu ran to Qingshan Town alone, he was extremely hungry.

He took out his money and bought some hot buns. When he was about to eat them, he was unexpectedly targeted by some thugs.

These thugs used sweet words to cheat him out of his money. Although Erhu was unwilling, he could only watch his money being taken away in the face of their fierce threats.

"I was really too hungry that I got cheated." Erhu's voice was filled with regret and helplessness.

Hearing Erhu's narration, Wang Chi frowned slightly and said calmly: "There are always scums like this in the world who bully the weak."

"Don't worry, my money is not that easy to take." Wang Chi looked fierce.

The two men went to the street to look for the hooligans, and soon met them.

This is not a coincidence, but because their behavior is too arrogant and can be easily discovered even on a busy street.

At this moment, these thugs were surrounding an old woman selling vegetables and shouting loudly. The old woman's stall was overturned by them, and the vegetables rolled to the ground and were trampled under their feet.

The old woman looked at them in horror, clutching the corners of her clothes with both hands, begging them helplessly to let her go.

Seeing this, Wang Chi frowned and was furious. They didn't expect these thugs to be so lawless that they even spared the innocent old woman.

"Stop it!" Wang Chi shouted and rushed forward.

When the thugs heard the sound, they turned around and saw Erhu and Wang Chi, and smiled mockingly.

"Hey, isn't that the fool? Still want to get beaten?" one of the thugs said provocatively.

"Ergou, let's go. I don't want the money." Erhu said timidly.

But Wang Chi was not intimidated by their words. Instead, he said to Erhu, "Backing down in the face of evildoers will only encourage their arrogance."

Wang Chi hooked his finger at them and said provocatively, "If you have the guts, come to the alley to meet us at night."
