Lin Ruowei and Gu Yan followed the mysterious man in black all the way to an abandoned manor. The manor looked dilapidated and the yard was overgrown with weeds, but the two knew that this place was not simple.

"This place looks like a horror movie set." Gu Yan muttered.

Lin Ruowei glared at him: "Don't be distracted, we have to be careful."

They quietly followed the man in black into the manor and found several secret doors that were obviously hidden. Lin Ruowei frowned: "It seems that this place hides a lot of secrets."

They passed through several doors silently and finally came to a hidden basement. The light in the basement was dim, but they could vaguely see several figures moving around inside.

"Listen, we have to speed up, time is running out." said a deep voice.

Lin Ruowei was startled. Judging from the voice, the man was most likely the leader of the mysterious staff. She and Gu Yan looked at each other and decided to move closer.

"We have to figure out everything here and then report to the emperor." Lin Ruowei said in a low voice.

Gu Yan nodded: "That's right, we must catch them all this time."

They crept closer and saw people in the basement were busy sorting out some documents and items. Obviously, they were preparing for a large-scale operation.

"This operation must not fail. We must ensure that every link is foolproof." said the mysterious chief of staff.

Lin Ruowei's heart tightened, knowing that the situation was very urgent. She quietly took out the recording device and recorded their conversation, hoping it could serve as strong evidence.

At this moment, a man who looked like a guard suddenly turned around and found Lin Ruowei and Gu Yan. He shouted, "There's an assassin!"

The people in the basement immediately became alert and drew their weapons. Lin Ruowei and Gu Yan knew they couldn't escape, so they decided to force their way out.

"We have to leave here quickly!" Gu Yan shouted.

They rushed out of the basement quickly and ran into several guards. Lin Ruowei dealt with them while looking for a chance to escape. Gu Yan used his agility to constantly deal with the enemy.

"Run over there, there is a small door!" Lin Ruowei saw a hidden small door and shouted quickly.

They quickly rushed towards the small door, but the guards kept chasing them. Lin Ruowei and Gu Yan used all their strength and finally rushed out of the small door at the last moment, shaking off the pursuers.

Lin Ruowei nodded: "But we must go back as soon as possible and tell the emperor this important information."

They rushed back to the palace and reported the recorded conversation and what they found to the emperor. After listening to it, the emperor's face became more solemn.

"It seems that things are more complicated than we thought. The conspiracy of the mysterious staff has reached the final critical stage." said the emperor.

Lin Ruowei said firmly: "Your Majesty, we must take action immediately and not let their conspiracy succeed."

The emperor nodded: "Okay, I will mobilize all available forces, and you continue to investigate in depth and find more evidence."

Lin Ruowei and Gu Yan decided to set out again, this time their target was those accomplices who were active within the court. They knew that only by thoroughly exposing the conspiracy of these people could they truly eliminate this threat.
