Li Xueyue didn't know what happened, but she fell asleep in his arms. His way of comforting her was very special...his words were like a lullaby. He stroked the back of her head, hugged her tightly, and comforted her that it was not her fault.

But why was she sitting there blankly on her empty bed, one hand on her empty stomach? If it wasn't her fault, why did the guilt prick her heart? She lowered her head, and her shoulders slumped.

The room was silent except for her trembling breathing. She had cried enough into his strong chest. She had promised him that she would not cry anymore. But the hot tears still filled her eyes and blurred her vision.

"When did you become a crybaby?" she scolded herself, rubbing her suddenly clogged nose.

Li Xueyue touched the empty space beside her. It was so cold. When did he leave? She wiped her eyes, slowly at first, but when more tears threatened to slide down her cheeks, she wiped them away angrily.

"Everything's going to be alright..." She whispered back what he told her over and over again.

Li Xueyue clutched the collar of her loose robe, hoping for something to distract her. But instead of despair, she felt anger. Even now, she was still furious at Xu Jiaqi's behavior.

"I can't do this," she thought to herself.

Li Xueyue grabbed her hair irritably, grabbing the roots of her hair in anger. "If you let empty hatred fill your heart, you will wither away with resentment," she blamed herself.

A sigh welled up from the bottom of her heart. Li Xueyue didn't want to suffer in the empty room. She quietly got off the bed, and her legs didn't feel numb at all. Sometimes, when she wanted to stand up, her legs would shake and tremble. It was all because of her greedy husband.

Li Xueyue opened the window and said, "It's morning."

The sun has already peeked out from the horizon, but the day has just begun. The traces of the night sky are faintly visible, and the shadows are reluctant to leave.

"Have I slept well since last night?" Li Xueyue stroked her hair again. She was surprised that she slept so soundly despite such a tragedy.

Li Xueyue wrapped her robe tighter around her. It felt strange. She hadn't lost much weight, but part of her body felt empty. She looked down and realized that she was wearing his clothes. The dark blue silk brushed against her skin, cold and smooth, just like the touch of real jade.

"When did this happen...?"

She vaguely remembered that he woke her up in the middle of the night and asked her to change out of her already dry clothes. He seemed to have told her that he hoped she would be more comfortable sleeping in clean and fresh clothes - or something like that.

"I should find him." Li Xueyue thought. She quietly walked towards the bedroom door. When she opened the door, she was greeted by a dead silence, which was not surprising to her.

"It's too quiet." Li Xueyue opened the gate of the manor and turned her head left and right in confusion. What she saw were the guards on the morning shift, but they were a little different.

The air was eerily quiet and the corridor was empty as far as the eye could see.

"Where are my maids?" Li Xueyue asked the guard. She knew that the maids woke up before dawn. When it got dark, they would slowly get up one by one.

Seeing that no guard answered, Li Xueyue moved and looked at them, only to see extremely gloomy expressions on their faces.

Li Xueyue then straightened up and said, "Don't make me repeat myself."

"Princess..." a burly guard said, "The maids are now under the care of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince."

"What?" Li Xueyue looked confused. She thought Yu Zhen had gone to morning training or was dealing with some urgent matter.

Li Xueyue tightened the silk belt around her robe. A chill ran up her spine, and the guard's words gave her goose bumps. There was something ominous in the air, but she couldn't tell what it was. What on earth had happened?

"Take me to him."

The guards froze.

Li Xueyue suppressed a sigh. How many times would they have to have this conversation? They should be used to her strange orders by now. Is it so strange for a wife to go to her husband?

Without saying a word, she closed the door and walked into the bedroom. Li Xueyue grabbed the nearest cloak. Fortunately, the cloak was thick and heavy. She was startled by the black light, but she didn't notice the roaring golden tiger at the bottom of the cloak.

After a while, she opened the gate of the manor again. "Lead the way." Li Xueyue walked out of the manor while fastening the first button of her cloak. A warm breath, a familiar breath.

"Princess, um..." the same muscular guard stammered. He wondered if the princess was qualified to wear such clothes.

The thin guard next to him stepped hard on the other's toes. Whether the Crown Princess broke the rules was none of their business. Besides, how stupid were his friends? Was there anything that the Crown Princess couldn't touch or take?

"Princess, if this is your wish, I am happy to serve you." The thin guard said. He lowered his head, kept his word, and began to command her.

However, he kept in mind the palace rules. Even if he led the way, he had to be two steps slower than the Crown Princess. Not only was this a rule, but if any man approached the Crown Princess alone, the commander would definitely be furious.

"It's suspiciously quiet today." Li Xueyue whispered. She was a little surprised by the coldness of Hanjian. Autumn was coming soon, but the temperature was much lower than that of Wuyi Mountain.

"Did the Queen come yesterday?" she asked the guard.

The tall, thin guard nodded. "Indeed, Princess. The Queen requested access to the manor, but the Crown Prince refused to let her in."

"Did they...at least discuss it a little bit?" Li Xueyue asked. She didn't remember Yu Zhen leaving her, it must have been when she was sleeping too deeply.

"Yes, princess."

"about?"

"I'm afraid it didn't reach the ears of our guards..."

Li Xueyue heard the regret in his tone. He felt hurt because he had failed to fulfill his duty. "It's okay," she said gently.

"I'll check it out myself." Li Xueyue adjusted the cloak on her shoulders. The cloak was large, and the collar brushed her chin lightly.

A strong wind whistled through the open corridor, and Li Xueyue pulled the cloak closer to her. Somehow, the cloak made her feel comfortable, and not because it protected her from the cold.

With every step closer to her destination, her heart sank tiredly into her stomach. The air was crisp and cool, but it stung her throat. Her fingers trembled inexplicably. She had to hold on to her cloak tightly to suppress the tension in her heart.

Each step felt heavier than the one before. When they finally reached the courtyard, Li Xueyue finally understood why.

The color drained from her face, and the sight before her made her eyes tremble. What on earth was going on?!
