Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble
Chapter 348 Yuyu Depression
Li Xueyue didn't know where she was running to. She finally stopped and looked around. She saw corridors one after another, so many that it was dizzying.
She didn't know how long she had been running. She was undoubtedly lost. She pursed her lips and decided it would be best to go back the way she had come.
A few minutes passed, and after turning one corner after another, she had gone deeper into the palace and was getting farther and farther away from her own manor.
Finally, she raised her hands in defeat.
“Why is my luck so bad?” She sighed and turned around. This place was not as luxurious as the rest of the palace. The wood here looked a little old and not very smooth.
"Oh, I see someone," she said to herself.
Li Xueyue noticed a small figure in the distance. The body was squatting on the ground, leaning against the bushes.
"Is this the servants' quarters?" she wondered aloud, looking around. That would explain the lack of decoration and landscaping.
Li Xueyue found it strange that there was no one here. But then again, it was morning and all the servants must be busy doing housework. In this huge palace, there were many things to do every day.
It wasn't long before she reached the person. On closer inspection, she saw that it was a little boy. His hair was cut in a messy way that reminded her of an upside-down bowl. She looked over his shoulder at him, wondering what he was doing.
The little boy jumped and turned when he noticed a shadow looming over him, his eyes wide with fear and he fell to the ground.
"Uh-uh..." he stammered. He could do nothing but stare blankly at the woman looking down at him.
Li Xueyue blinked. Is she that scary? She scratched her head and smiled tenderly.
"Hello," she said. "What's your name?"
The boy looked around nervously. His eyes flicked to the left, then to the right. He had not wanted to leave, but the little butterfly had lured him away. He was concentrating on observing the small creatures in the bushes.
“I…I…” He trailed off and couldn’t say a word. He was scared of her. It wasn’t because she looked mean. It was just… strangers were scary.
“Are you lost?” Li Xueyue asked, although it was a silly question considering she was lost herself.
Li Xueyue always felt that there was something wrong with this child, but she didn't think much about it. He must be the servant's son. He looked no more than three years old, but his eyes made her think differently.
Compared with his young stature, his eyes were dull and hopeless, as if he had experienced great pain in his life.
"My name is Xueyue," she said, hoping the interaction would calm him down.
"What's yours?" she asked.
Still the little boy didn't respond. He backed away quietly - almost as if he expected the bushes to swallow him alive.
Li Xueyue pursed her lips. She took a step back to give him some space. Perhaps the shadow she left on his trembling body frightened him. He was still lying on the ground, shivering, with a panicked expression on his face.
"I won't hurt you," she muttered, watching him look around hesitantly. Her eyes widened as he grabbed a rock.
Suddenly, he threw it to her. "Go, go away!" he screamed in horror.
Li Xueyue caught the stone in her hand. She whistled softly. "Wow, it's really jagged," she said.
If it fell on her, it would definitely cause a lot of damage. She threw the pebble aside. Are all Han Jian's children so scary?
Li Xueyue wiped the dust off her hands. She decided it was best to ignore the little boy. It was obvious that he didn't want her to get close to him.
"I hope you know the way back, because I certainly don't," Li Xueyue said. She turned and started walking down the corridor again.
Li Xueyue heard the sound of clothes being swung and stood up quickly. She looked back and found that he was staring at the ground. He was holding the corner of his clothes and lowering his head.
"Brother Chen is right." She said to herself. "You are so kind."
Li Xueyue faced him again. She kept her distance to prevent him from doing anything to her. Even from a distance, she could see his pouting face.
"You're lost, aren't you?" she said.
He nodded slowly but firmly toward the ground.
Li Xueyue raised an eyebrow. "Well, you're out of luck. I'm lost too."
The boy raised his head, his face full of disappointment. His brows were tightly knitted together, and wrinkles appeared on his pale forehead. He seemed to be about to cry.
"Why don't we find a way out together?" she said, offering him a helping hand. "When I see the servant, I'll ask her to bring us both back."
"Servant...?" he repeated the unfamiliar words.
Li Xueyue nodded. For such a young child, his pronunciation was already amazing. Could it be that he was really only four or five years old, but just growing slower?
“Yes, they will take us back,” she said.
"Back to... where?" he asked hesitantly.
Li Xueyue didn't know if every child was so cute. Now that she looked closely, his chubby face and small hands were so cute. But he seemed uncomfortable with her, which was understandable. Children are usually shy.
"Go back to where you came from." Li Xueyue said. The little boy scratched the side of his head and lowered his eyes to the ground.
"Well, why don't you come with me?" she said.
He raised his head again, shuffling his feet.
"Trust me," she said, holding out her hand for him to take. He stared at it intently. He ran forward slowly but surely on his little feet.
Li Xueyue looked at him again. She felt a tug in her chest. Something was wrong, but she couldn't put her finger on it.
"What's your name?" she asked for the third time as he slid his small hand into hers.
He blinked at her words, then stared at the ground. She bit her lower lip. It was a simple question, and he should be able to answer it. Well, every child is different.
"So what's your mother's name?"
Once again she was met with silence.
Li Xueyue tilted her head. She racked her brains, looking for another question to ask him. She couldn't think of much.
"So, what's your father's name?" she asked.
"Father...?" He repeated the strange word.
"Yes," she said and nodded. "A father is someone who takes care of you and is equally responsible for giving birth to you."
At this, he looked up. A man who takes care of you… He tried to think of such people in his life, besides the kind women who always brought him food.
"Yu..." he whispered.
Li Xueyue blinked. What? She covered her ears and lowered her head, wondering what he said.
"Can you say that again?"
“Yu…Yu…”
Yu Yu? Who is that?
Li Xueyue bit her lip. It sounded like a surname. “Youyou, is this your father’s name?” she asked.
The little boy nodded. "Yu Yu."
Li Xueyue frowned. Wait a minute. This little boy is actually the prince's son? ! She tilted her head, wondering how old the eldest prince of Hanjian was. Could he have had an illegitimate child?
Li Xueyue observed her appearance carefully. If this boy is the eldest prince's son, then he is Yu Zhen's nephew? So, their facial features should be somewhat similar, right?
"Yuyu sounds like his last name," Li Xueyue commented. "Does your father have any other names?"
"Father…?"
"Yeah, the man in your life who raised you and took care of you, it doesn't matter what happens." Li Xueyue shrugged.
Li Xueyue found that her bangs were quite long. It covered his eyes a little. She wanted to push those strands aside so that he could see clearly, but she didn't want to scare him.
She was just glad he was holding her hand. It would be troublesome if he ran away.
"Excellently?" she asked quietly, waiting for him to speak.
The little boy blinked. Father... there was only one other name in his mind.
"Uh-huh, what's that?" she asked, leaning down again. She covered her ears and listened to what he whispered shyly.
"Yu Zhen..." he whispered. "My father is Yu Zhen."
