Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble

Yu Lingluo wanted to bother her brother for a while longer. She was bored, and he seemed lonely. She opened her mouth to say something, but was interrupted by a rapid clicking sound. She didn't recognize the sound, but noticed that it came from the window.

"Uh, real brother——"

"I know."

Yu Zhen turned his head sharply to look at the source of the sound. He walked to the window without hesitation and heard the familiar "cooing" sound.

He was startled and opened the window. Sure enough, there was a dirty white pigeon perched in front of him.

"You obviously don't belong to me." Yu Zhen muttered as he held out a finger to the bird. There was no information attached to the bird's leg.

“How cute!” Yu Lingluo exclaimed, clapping her hands. She was very interested in the bird that interrupted their conversation.

"not mine."

"Oh, who is that?" Yu Lingluo asked, and her brother closed the window to let the bird in.

To their surprise, the little pigeon was very obedient and stayed on Yu Zhen's finger.

Yu Zhen shrugged in response. He wondered who the bird belonged to, especially its dirty feathers.

"Why is it so dirty?" Yu Lingluo said with a frown.

She walked over to her brother's desk. The white feathers were covered with dust and turned gray.

"Why don't you ask the bird?" Yu Zhen retorted.

He walked over to an empty cage on the other side of the room. Normally, it was reserved for his carrier pigeons, but this little creature was out delivering mail.

"It seems she is well-trained." Yu Lingluo said. The bird jumped into the cage smoothly.

Yu Zhen nodded in response. He closed the door of the golden cage and grabbed the top handle.

“Where are you going?” Yu Lingluo asked as he passed her and walked towards the door. Even though he didn’t tell her anything, she followed him like a lost puppy.

"Excellently?" she asked, continuing to walk beside him. It was a privilege few had.

When he suddenly stopped, she stopped too.

Yu Zhen pursed his lips and cast his gaze on Yu Lingluo. She stared at him eagerly with wide and curious eyes. He couldn’t help but sigh. She needed more friends.

"I have an important meeting to attend."

Yu Lingluo wore her emotions on her sleeves. Disappointment was evident on her face. Her lips trembled as she nodded grimly.

"Okay, then I'll go and bother Xiaojuzi..." Her voice became smaller and smaller because she knew that only Xiaojuzi would accompany her.

Little Orange was very nice to her, but he liked to bite her clothes, thinking they were food.

Yu Zhen didn't want to leave her alone. She was young and naughty. He was sure she would start causing trouble again. He couldn't remember how many times she had been fooling around in the palace, playing pranks on unsuspecting people.

"I am sure Hu Dengxiao is back," he said.

Yu Lingluo was immediately cheered up after hearing his words.

"Really?" she whispered, happy to be able to go to her friend.

"Yes, go find him." Yu Zhen clasped his fingers together and waved his hand, as if he was chasing away a pet.

Yu Lingluo didn't need to be told a second time. She hugged her brother fiercely and ran to find Hu Dengxiao.

Yu Zhen watched her jump down the corridor dizzily. He shook his head in amusement. It must be very happy to live such a carefree life. He was relieved to learn that she was not a candidate for Wuyi.

Yu Lingluo was really too young. Most importantly, she was also loved by everyone. The queen doted on her, and the emperor also doted on her.

If there is any hope for Yuzhen, it is that Yulingluo can be as innocent as she is now. Everyone tries their best to protect her from the cruel treatment in the palace. At least, shouldn’t a flower bloom quietly?

Yan Xi was relieved to find that the princess had fallen asleep. The princess rested her cheek on one of her supporting arms. Her other hand was on the unopened page of the book.

"I'm glad you can take a nap." Yan Xi whispered to the Crown Princess, even though no one was there to hear her.

She crept up to the sleeping princess and covered her with a blanket. The princess' head began to lower and lower until her head rested on the table with a funny look on her face.

Yan Xi had never seen the princess take a nap. She must be too tired today. It was already evening... Maybe these few hours of sleep could help the princess replenish her energy.

"Do I need to wake her up?" Yan Xi asked himself, suddenly hesitant about the decision.

If the princess falls asleep now, will she still be able to fall asleep later?

Unfortunately, Yan Xi was unable to explore her options. There was a sudden knock on the door. But before she could react, the door opened. She was greeted by a powerful presence.

Yan Xi was not surprised to see the prince. Only he would have the guts to barge in without any warning.

She arched her upper body.

"Your Highness," she said as he walked past the screen that separated the entryway from the living room.

"You are forgiven," he said.

Yu Zhen brushed past the bowing maid and walked towards the door. Not long after, the middle-aged maid left.

Yu Zhen was briefly surprised by the sight before him. Li Xueyue was asleep on the table with an open book in her arms.

"You're being lazy." Yu Zhen looked at her over her shoulder and said thoughtfully.

The book was only on page three. He suppressed a small laugh.

He placed the cage on the table. The bird immediately shifted its position on the branch, almost as if it had recognized a person.

"I knew this would be your master," Yu Zhen whispered. He was careful not to disturb her.

Yu Zhen gently stroked Li Xueyue's cheek with the back of his fingers. He didn't want to wake her up. But he couldn't help it. As always, her skin was soft and smooth.

"You'll catch a cold," he chided. "You'll wake up sore all over."

Yu Zhen reached out to take off her shoes and threw them at the foot of the table. He placed one hand on her upper back and the other hand hooked under her knees, lifting her up easily.

Instantly, Li Xueyue moved in his arms. "Um... who?"

"Go back to bed, Sunshine," he whispered.

Yu Zhen held her tighter until her head rested on his chest. He watched her eyes lazily and slowly open and close until her body collapsed to the ground.

A warm current suddenly spread through his chest. He couldn't pinpoint the exact emotion. Until she moved in his arms and rubbed her face against his. His heart tightened abnormally.

"Sleep well, Sunshine," he said as he laid her down on the bed. He pulled back the blanket until she was completely covered.

Yu Zhen could have left right then and there. But he couldn’t. It was strange. He sat by her bed and patted her chest rhythmically through the blanket.

He had to make sure she was sleeping soundly and comfortably. He didn't leave the room until he was sure she was okay.
