Yu Zhen looked down at her with a conflicted expression.

"How soon?" he asked softly, his hand tightening around hers.

Her eyelids drooped, unable to acknowledge the fact.

"I don't know..." she whispered.

He sighed softly, pulled her close, and hugged her without hesitation. When he got to her, Yu Zhen knew that he would fish in troubled waters. However, he still let himself fall in love with her helplessly.

Yu Zhen could have left Han Jian and never looked back. But he didn’t. He wrote to her asking for a response. He worked hard to ensure that the political marriage would go through. He completed the documents weeks in advance just to be able to spend time with her after the wedding.

"What I did for you..." he whispered, shaking his head.

He felt her clutching his shirt. To his surprise, she wrapped one arm around his waist and hugged him back. Her other hand rested on his mid-back, and she leaned against him.

"Will you pay me back?" he teased.

Yu Zhen said it jokingly, but she obviously didn't see it that way.

"What do you want in return?" She mumbled as she tucked her clothes into his, refusing to meet his intense gaze.

Yu Zhen raised his eyebrows. He hummed and pretended to be thinking.

"Let me have harem flowers to decorate my palace——"

She raised her head suddenly, her eyes wide open, full of disbelief.

Yu Zhen's lips curled up into a satisfied smile. He could see the amber fragments swirling in her eyes - hesitation, anger, fear. They were truly windows to her soul.

"I will poison your flowers until they wither and never grow again," she retorted.

Yu Zhen waved his fingers in front of her like a master disciplining a pet.

"Flowers are replaceable. One flower dies, and then two more grow in its place," he said.

Yu Zhen watched in amusement, nostrils flaring, her temperament matching his. He could imagine the gears turning in her head. Without warning, she angrily stamped on his foot.

He let out a sharp hiss of pain, not expecting such a sneak attack. She pushed him away and crossed her arms.

"If you're going to have a harem of women, I want my fair share of boy toys," she said.

Li Xueyue found that Yu Zhen was as fickle as parchment in the wind. His easygoing smile turned into a murderous look. He showed an evil smile, and a crazy look appeared in his obsidian eyes.

"Go on," he whispered.

Li Xueyue certainly didn't expect to get such an answer. His smile became deeper and deeper, even becoming sinister and dangerous.

"Buy the whole brothel if you want."

Li Xueyue's brows knitted together. She was confused by his acceptance of her proposal. She swallowed as he took a slow step forward. She held her breath as he pinched her long hair between his calloused fingers.

"But I must warn you, Li Xueyue," he said thoughtfully. "They won't have any body parts that will please you."

Li Xueyue thought it was a joke, but the calmness in his eyes was chilling. She trembled. He smiled. He put the hair to his lips and kissed it gently.

"They'll be dead before you can even play with them."

Li Xueyue frowned. "I can say the same about your insignificant little flowers."

Her heart raced as he looked up from her hair. His gaze was piercing, like a predator watching its prey. He was too intense—too mesmerizing. He held her attention for the longest time. She couldn't look away—even if she wanted to.

Yu Zhen's beauty is likened to dusk: as cool as the night breeze, as charming as the stars, and as mysterious as the moon.

When he held out his hand, she flinched in surprise. She hoped her reaction didn't offend him. It didn't. He flicked aside a lock of her hair, and in the blink of an eye, he was in front of her.

Li Xueyue was trapped between him and the door. She had nowhere to escape. Nowhere to hide.

“Jealousy is a lovely shade for you,” Yu Zhen whispered, grabbing her chin and lifting it up.

"You should look at yourself first," she whispered, her feet moving on their own and standing on tiptoe.

Li Xueyue closed her eyes, waiting for a kiss that never came. A second or two passed, but she felt nothing.

"Yu Zhen——" He placed a chaste kiss on her forehead. Even though he stepped back, she could still feel the remaining warmth, which warmed her heart.

"You just like to tease me, don't you?" Li Xueyue muttered and put her feet on the ground.

Then without warning, he leaned down and kissed her on the lips. She was caught off guard by the gentleness of the kiss. It was soft and slow at first, as he was careful not to hurt her. As the seconds passed, their lips moved faster. He kissed her passionately, with a passion unlike any he had ever felt before.

Li Xueyue's body hummed as he opened his mouth to kiss the corner of her lips. He moved lower and lower, his teeth grazing her chin, and then biting her neck.

She dug her fingers into his upper arm as he sucked on the same spot. The faded marks began to show again.

"Everyone will know," she protested, pushing against his chest, but he grabbed her wrist and pressed it against the door.

She covered her mouth with her free hand and stifled a moan as he blew on the bruise.

"Let them know," he retorted, prying her hands away and sealing her lips with his own.

His slick tongue slid into her mouth, wet and hot. He pressed his body against hers until he felt everything. He slowly released her wrists.

Li Xueyue's heart moved, and she made a sound of joy. She hugged him unconsciously, with one hand on his chin and the other on his back.

"What you do to me," he moaned, finally stepping back to let her breathe. After a few seconds, his tongue slipped back in, tasting her carefully. She tasted sweet, like jasmine tea.

"Soon, you'll be all mine," he said against her lips. He straightened up as her body fell forward. He could feel her broad chest against his, sucking in the air greedily.

Li Xueyue nodded tremblingly, she knew what would happen next. It was no exaggeration.

His thumb brushed across her swollen mouth. How could this be possible? A cold and heartless man could do such a tender gesture? He had a bad temper, a terrible personality, and was cold and heartless. Yet, he caressed her with love and adoration.

Li Xueyue couldn't help but confide her concerns to him. "I met Xu Jiaqi before I came here."

His body was as stiff as a tree. He waited patiently for her to voice her concerns.

"She got away with it yesterday," she pointed out. "That's funny, considering your reputation for punishing offenders."

Li Xueyue grabbed the hand that was caressing her face. She stopped him from touching her other parts.

"Care to explain?" she asked, but it sounded like a command.
