Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble
Chapter 170 Eliminating All His Concerns
Yu Zhen watched the carriage disappear into the distance. Seeing her hair blown out of the carriage by the wind, and her face about to stick out, the corners of his mouth twitched, but was obviously dragged back into the carriage.
This was very interesting to him. He wondered if she knew that even if he returned to the palace, a duel would happen anyway. She was so stupid to think that anything could stop the inevitable between him and Wen Jinkai. But perhaps, it was this ignorance that made her lovable. He couldn't tell.
"Let's end the duel." Yu Zhen said when the carriage completely disappeared from his sight. Without waiting for Wen Jinkai to react, he drew his sword.
"Excellently?" Yu Zhen turned to ask Wen Jinkai who was drawing his sword. He didn't care about the injury to his opponent's dominant hand. He just wanted to get rid of this obstacle and get Li Xueyue.
"Heh..." Wen Jinkai shook his head. "Every time we meet, you act like a gentleman." He pulled the sword out of the scabbard and threw the scabbard to the ground. "But who would have thought that you were a soldier without honor?"
Yu Zhen just shrugged. "Will fair play win the war?"
Wen Jinkai took a step forward. "No, but a fair fight brings satisfaction."
"Too bad, I'd feel more satisfied if I cut off your dominant hand." Yu Zhen let out a chuckle that was crazier than anyone could have imagined.
Wen Jinkai cursed in his heart. He could hardly feel the fingertips on his bleeding hand. It turned blue every second, and if it was not treated in time, he would have to behead it.
Yu Zhen took a step forward, the sword in his hand swung with ease, as if it weighed nothing. But that was the only warning they needed before the shadow guards emerged from every corner and surrounded them. This was an ambush from all sides.
With a click, the soldiers pulled the swords out of the metal scabbards and threw them to the ground without hesitation. They surrounded Yu Zhen, with the swords drawn and the tips pointing at him.
Yu Zhen was not unprepared. When Wen Jinkai's own men stepped forward, his soldiers immediately made their presence known. It was a fierce standoff, with all parties drawing their weapons, and one action was enough to trigger a fight.
"I applaud you loyal dogs." Yu Zhen nodded thoughtfully with satisfaction. "Do you lack the confidence to fight me one-on-one?"
"We would never disrespect our commander," said one man, his face covered by a black mask that covered his nose and left nothing but his eyes exposed. "We were just taking action to stop this unfair fight."
Yu Zhen raised his eyebrows. "Since when did dogs bark before their owners spoke?"
The Shadow Guard's presumed leader gritted his teeth but chose not to respond. These Han people are cunning. They preach honor and justice, but will violate their morals whenever they get the chance. How sad it is that they don't uphold their own moral code.
"Stand down, this is my fight." Wen Jinkai roared, knowing that this was an unfavorable battle, but he still took a step forward, but that was also why it was so thrilling. If he won this battle with a non-dominant arm and a bleeding hand, what would it mean for Han Jian's most precious commander?
Yu Zhen's failure will become the talk of the town.
The leaders exchanged wary glances with their soldiers, but they could not disobey their master. Slowly, they began to sheath their swords and obey their commander. They did not dare to question his orders.
Yu Zhen watched this blatant display of loyalty with a twinkle of amusement in his eyes. He found the scene so humorous, so touching and yet so silly. These men would rather obey their master than save him from a disadvantageous battle. What a commendable scene.
“What a touching moment this is.” Yu Zhen sighed helplessly. “As a reward, I’ll save you from failure tonight,” he said thoughtfully, sliding the sword back into the scabbard.
Wen Jinkai narrowed his eyes. "Are you afraid of losing this battle?"
"No, but I'm sure you're afraid of losing that arm." Yu Zhen nodded to Wen Jinkai's limp hand.
"But I do pity you." Yu Zhen smiled. "No one will cry for your loss."
Wen Jinkai's grip on the sword tightened. "Draw your weapon, you coward."
"You should value yourself, not your pride." Yu Zhen smacked his lips. "If you want to duel, I'm always willing."
"I want one of these."
"I'd better like to duel with someone who is capable, otherwise it's a waste of time." Yu Zhen just shrugged. He wouldn't be so tolerant normally, but for his ray of sunshine, he would restrain himself. She didn't want a public massacre, and he would fulfill this wish.
Wen Jinkai gritted his teeth. "How many times will you suggest a duel like a cuckolded coward?"
Yu Zhen didn't even blink at the insult. He just gave Wen Jinkai a sympathetic look. "I'm sure you're eager to stroke your ego because it's the only great thing about you, but many of us have honor to uphold."
Yu Zhen snapped his fingers, and instantly, his men breathed a sigh of relief. They knew what to do without needing orders. His soldiers began to put their weapons back in place, as if nothing had happened.
Yu Zhen nodded at the mess in the restaurant. Chairs were overturned and tables were knocked over as soldiers from both sides barged in. His men didn’t need to be told twice before they started cleaning up the mess.
"You talk about honor, but you demand a duel and then give up. I have never seen a more pathetic attempt to play a hero." Wen Jinkai shook his head in disgust.
Yu Zhen did not answer. He did not have to. His silence spoke for him.
Wen Jinkai narrowed his eyes. He motioned for his men to start cleaning up as well. Although he didn't care about preserving his reputation, he did care about the lives of the people affected by his actions. They didn't deserve to be dragged into all this mess.
The leading shadow guard was a burly man. He looked at the restaurant manager who had retreated after seeing this scene.
Wen Jinkai just nodded, the only sign that the leader needed to move on with a bag of money.
"This should compensate for the damaged decorations and chairs," the leader said, tossing the bag into the owner's hands.
The boss nodded hesitantly and stepped back behind the counter. He watched warily as the armed men began to clean up the mess they had made. They worked efficiently and quietly, and within a few minutes, everything was done.
Yu Zhen decided that he had better places to go than to waste his time here. He didn’t care who was looking at him or who was whispering about the commotion that was going on in the restaurant. He simply slipped out, ignoring the small group of people that had gathered outside, whispering about what was going on.
Yu Zhen made up his mind on the spot. His last mission before leaving Wuyi was to kill Wen Jinkai and bring his head back to Hanjian as a trophy. If he was going to leave Wuyi, at least he should get rid of the man who was pestering his woman.
But then I thought of something else, a better idea. A plan to kill two birds with one stone.
An evil, twisted smile appeared on his face. How nice it would be if all his worries in Wuyi could be eliminated.
