Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble
Chapter 166 The Last Time
“Keep it,” Wen Jinkai said sharply. His tone left no room for objection. He would not take “no” for an answer. She’d better keep it, or he would smash it in front of her.
Wen Jinkai clenched his teeth. If he bit harder, his jaw would be shattered. He was very dissatisfied with what was happening before his eyes.
'Fuck!' he roared in his mind, his body shaking with suppressed anger. 'What did I do wrong?!' he blamed himself, his eyes burning at his own actions. 'Why did it turn out like this? What did I do wrong?
"I do not want."
"Do I stutter?" He growled, his jaw trembling. He needed to punch something, break something beyond repair. He wanted something to quench his thirst for blood.
Her patience broke. "Take it back or throw it away. I don't care," she retorted, grabbing his wrist. She slapped the handkerchief-wrapped pendant onto his open palm and forced his fingers around it.
"I want to go home." Li Xueyue said coldly with her back to him.
Suddenly, without warning, a pair of strong arms wrapped around her collarbone and chest, and her back hit his strong chest. He hugged her tightly, holding her tightly, and buried his head deeply in her shoulders.
"Don't leave."
"Let me go! Are you crazy?!" She screamed and Duchess Wang Qixing rushed over.
"Commander! You are so disrespectful!" Princess Wang Qixing shouted, "Guards!"
In an instant, a large number of men came to the rescue, but no one was faster than Yu Zhen's sword.
Wen Jinkai realized that the sword was pointed at his head, so close that a slight movement could cut through his hair, but he didn't care. He would rather die if it meant being able to hear her voice one last time, to see the smile that spread across her face, to see the light in her eyes before she let out her sweetest laugh.
Wen Jinkai closed his eyes tightly, her scent mixed with Xueyue's, and the only thing left in his mind was the other woman in his arms.
He would give the whole world just to be able to touch and see Li Minghua for the last moment, no matter how brief that moment was. Just one last time, he begged. Just once more.
"Take your arms away immediately." Yu Zhen ordered, his voice calm, but full of ruthless promise of death. His eyes were more violent than the roaring sky in the storm. At this moment, he cared about nothing except the snow and the moon; he was surrounded by another man instead of his arms.
"I love you," Wen Jinkai whispered, his desperate voice ringing in her ears. He was not sure whether this confession was directed to Li Minghua or Li Xueyue. The two women began to become confused in his brain, and he found it difficult to see them as different people.
Li Xueyue felt that her whole world was spinning, as if it was about to collapse. No one except her had ever heard such a confession, and his voice was like a ghostly whisper. So broken, so afraid of the outcome.
Li Xueyue's throat tightened, not because of emotion, but because of pity for him. She had lost it long ago when Wen Jinkai knocked her against that tree and asked her to apologize. He lost his chance that night, but perhaps he had already lost his chance when he mistook her for someone else.
Yu Zhen did not waver. He would not give a second chance, nor would he tolerate this despicable scum who had taken his woman.
In the blink of an eye, he thrust the sword forward. The sharp tip of the blade should be able to pierce Wen Jinkai's skull directly. Just a few seconds before this, Wen Jinkai held the blade tightly and did not retreat.
Li Xueyue watched in horror as blood dripped from the arm that was wrapped around her collarbone. The smell of iron drifted into her nose, and the scarlet liquid was so sticky that it was creepy.
"Crazy bastard." Yu Zhen laughed, twisted the sword, and watched with satisfaction as the sword pierced deeply into Wen Jinkai's hand.
The pain was unbearable, but compared to the wound in his heart, it was just a small wound for Wen Jinkai who continued to hold the sword. The edge pierced deeply into his bleeding hand. He needed something to numb the pain in his heart, something to distract him from the unique memory of Li Minghua.
"Xueyue, come here," Yu Zhen ordered gruffly. Her trembling eyes met his, and a soft gasp escaped her open mouth when she saw his face. He was thunderous, dark, and the most dangerous sight she had ever seen.
Li Xueyue had never thought Yu Zhen was capable of anger until she saw him at this moment. He didn’t frown, nor did his face twist into an undeniable scowl. Instead, he let his eyes and his breath of terror show his anger. He could kill Wen Jinkai without hesitation, but Wuyi Shuai would not defeat an enemy without a fight. But he would not harm Wen Jinkai unless Xueyue’s safety was threatened.
“Now,” Yu Zhen growled, his jaw clicking and his hands clenching into fists.
"Stay," Wen Jinkai whispered into her shoulder blade, his other hand around her waist, sinking deep into her body.
Li Xueyue pushed him away with all her strength until she heard words she never thought she would hear from him—at least, not in this life.
"Please. I beg you." His voice sounded so fragile that for a moment she wavered, her eyes turning to him nervously. She couldn't see his expression, but she knew he was fantasizing about someone else.
“I’m not Li Minghua,” she hissed.
Wen Jinkai was shocked and tensed. He didn't expect her name to be mentioned so casually.
In his moment of weakness, his grip loosened, and she broke free from his grasp without hesitation.
After only three and a half steps, she was in front of Yu Zhen. Only a hand's distance away from him, Yu Zhen grabbed her roughly and pulled her against him. Just then, she felt his body tremble, not because of fear, but because of anger. He could hardly suppress his anger, and she could see that his patience was less than expected.
Li Xueyue didn’t speak. She leaned on him, the temperature around her dropped because of him, and she trembled slightly. He didn’t give off the warmth she was used to. She missed his warmth very much.
Why not seek comfort herself? She did.
It was the first time she had taken the initiative with him since they had first met. Slowly, hesitantly, she wrapped her arms around his tall frame. She hugged him tightly, buried her face in his chest, and closed her eyes. Unbeknownst to her, she had missed him already.
The coat with its gold embroidered collar was warm as it fell over his shoulders. She could feel the fabric vibrate against her fingertips as she tried to clasp her hands together properly on his back.
"Sunshine." Yu Zhen whispered in a voice that only she could hear. "It took you long enough." His voice was low, calm, and comforting.
Li Xueyue wanted to cherish this moment and hugged him tighter. She could feel his stiff muscles tense when he loosened his fingers and placed his hand comfortably on her hip.
Yu Zhen pressed her against him protectively, his coat moving to cover her face. She sighed softly, contentedly, her stomach bouncing more violently than his cape in the chill breeze. Her heart skipped a beat when he squeezed her hips gently, his fingers brushing the strap of her belt.
"Don't pull," she muttered into his dark clothing, her face heating up as she felt a chuckle that only she could hear. It sounded like a mix between a mockery and a small laugh.
"I wasn't planning on doing that. My ring got caught in it."
Li Xueyue hid her face because he liked to evoke a sense of déjà vu between them. This man was her death, but because it was him, she welcomed death with open arms.
