Chapter 482: Midnight!

Becoming Moon Knight

Becoming Moon Knight Spector finally found his purpose in life and he threw himself into it. He moved to New York with Dushanbe and his love Marlene and created Moon Knight's campaign, equipment, and identity.

With his gambling fortune, in addition to supporting his new career as a crime fighter, he began to use the persona of Steven Grant, a financier, and Jake Lockley, a taxi driver, with the goal of gathering information on the street.

His original personality, which had multiple facets, faded into the background. Nonetheless, living four different lives took a toll on Spector's mental health. Lockley built up a network of informants, including homeless Bertrand Crowley, restaurateur Gina Landers, and her two sons Ricky and Ray.

Spector's first major job as Moon Knight was when the Crime Committee hired him to capture the Werewolf by Night, Jack Russell. He succeeded, thanks in large part to the silver Roman gauntlets he was equipped with.

However, he learns of the Council's plan to turn Russell's sister into another werewolf and use both as weapons. He does the honorable thing and switches sides, with Spector and Russell wiping out the Crime Chamber.

Spector faced off against Conquer-Lord on his own, then temporarily joined The Defenders in their battle against the Zodiac Cartel.

The first skeleton in Specter's closet to bother Moon Knight for a long time was William Cross, who had become Crossfire, from whom Specter rescued the Thing when they teamed up to fight the Masked Marauder.

He met Spider-Man for the first time. The Masked Predator, who called himself "Big M" at the time, hired the original Cyclone. Moon Knight had arrived in the big time and encountered more frequent super villains.

Early on, he has to deal with a serial killer known as "Hatchet-Man," who claims to be his brother, Randall. Spector investigates the death of Amos Lardner, whose body is found in a crate outside Spector's home.

He learns that Amos's brother James became a test subject for a CIA experiment, and when Amos investigated he was forced to undergo the same treatment, leading to his own suicide. Spector faces other threats as well: some are super-powerful, some are insane, and some are simply ambitious, but all are dangerous.

He confronts Jimmy Crawley, a man who kills homeless people in search of his father. He finds Bushman and sends him to jail, but Bushman fights back with Midnight Man, who destroys Spector's Konsu statue.

At this point, Spector was convinced that Khonsu had given him power and focus in his life.

His precarious self-control crumbles until Marlene creates another idol, which she claims is the original. The Menace of Morpheus Moon Knight's next major enemy, Morpheus, turns out to be a patient of Marlene's brother, Dr. Peter Allaunay.

When Specter first encounters Black Spectre, Khonsu's statue chooses him again, and Black Spectre tries to scare people into supporting his mayoral campaign. When Specter claims that Knowles is Black Spectre, no one believes him, including Dr. Alraun, but Khonsu gives him the power to win.

A battle with the Fly left Spector unable to walk, but he quickly recovered. In an effort to stop an ancient Egyptian curse, Spector briefly hosted the spirit of a Khonshu, which helped integrate his personality.

But then Spector suffers another severe mental breakdown and decides to abandon all other identities and settle down with Marlene, however, by reconciling with his father's estate, he finds a degree of peace and decides to retire from the fight against crime.

As part of his new life, Spector gave up Grant's identity and sold the statue at a gallery in Paris. However, he had a vision that told him "the image was a token of evil".

He was called back to serve as Moonlight Knight, and learned that Marlene could no longer tolerate his schizophrenic behavior, so she left him. In the Valley of the Kings in Egypt, Spector met three ancient priests of Khonsu, who told Spector that Khonsu had chosen him as a guardian and gave him new weapons.

It was not until later that Spector realized that Khonsu himself was influencing him subconsciously.

West Coast Avengers

Pector joined the West Coast Avengers for a time after rescuing some of their members who were transferred to Pharaoh's Egypt.

Hawkeye received Khonsu's help in exchange for designing a new weapon for Moonlight Knight. Khonsu informed Spector that day, and Spector helped the Avengers return safely.

As an Avenger, Spector developed a romantic relationship with Tigra, whom he had previously met during a visit to Avengers Tower. Some time later, the team discovered that Hawkeye's wife, Barbara Morse, had allowed Lincoln Slade to die when he was thrown back in time, which caused controversy.

Mark, Tigress, and Mockingbird left the team as a splinter group, and along with Bill Foster, they terrorized the High Evolutionary and fought the villain team Night Shift.

When they consulted Hellstorm about Lincoln Slade's haunting of Mockingbird, Specter learned of Khonsu's presence in his own mind, and Hellstorm convinced Luna to leave.
