Quick Wear: Passerby A's Daily Life of Eating Watermelons
Chapter 150: Passerby A died before the escape began 6
"Okay then, let's go to the capital together!"
"Haha, I feel a lot more relieved that our two families are traveling together. I was always worried that I wouldn't be able to take care of my wife and children if I took them alone. Now that our two families are watching out for each other, we can be much safer along the way."
After agreeing to go to the capital together, the relationship between the two families became much closer. Afterwards, Bai Ze and Jiang's father discussed the route. The route needed to be planned carefully. They had to go to places with water because people needed water and livestock needed it. They also couldn't be too far from towns, otherwise not only would it be inconvenient to get supplies, but it would also be easy to encounter wild animals and bandits in the deep mountains and forests.
It's not like we do now where we can just take out our cell phone and use the navigation. After discussing the route, Chen started to clean up the table and pack up the dishes. Then Jiang's father put away the clay pot as it would be used to cook and boil water on the way. They had to set out early in the morning the next day and cook after setting up camp at noon.
Father Jiang arranged Bai Ze and the others in the guest room in the front yard. After locking the door, he went back to the house to sleep and recuperate. At night, Bai Ze separated from the puppet and flew back to Jiang Yue's house. After entering the house, Bai Ze transmitted their movements of the past few days to Jiang Yue. In order to make their origins more realistic, they actually went to Tianshui County, spent money to get an identity there, and then came here. It was a coincidence that the Jiang family did not leave when they came here today. Bai Ze thought that if the people had left, he could only contact Jiang Yue to confirm the location and then chase after them.
After transmitting what happened in the past few days, Jiang Yue assisted in absorbing the blood seed. After the absorption was completed, Jiang Yue and Bai Ze discussed whether to kill the rebel leader. Otherwise, it would be fine if they didn't know about it, but if they knew about it, would they let him continue to massacre the city? Bai Ze thought about it and said, "Master, leave a puppet here. I will set a program to persuade him. If he listens to us, we will ignore him. If he doesn't listen and insists on massacring the city, it won't be too late to kill him."
"How do you convince him? His subordinates won't listen to your advice, will they listen to a stranger like you?"
"I'll take the county magistrate's head with me. Anyway, the county magistrate is not a good person. Let him die. If he doesn't listen to me, then it's not a pity for the rebel leader to die."
Jiang Yue thought about it and decided to do as Bai Ze suggested. After the discussion, Bai Ze went back to the puppet. Jiang Yue yawned, changed to a comfortable sleeping position and went to sleep.
At four o'clock in the morning of the next day, Jiang's father and Bai Ze had packed up their things and harnessed the carriage, and then woke up their wives and children. Jiang Yue was still sleepy when his mother woke him up. He went to bed at around 12 o'clock yesterday and woke up again after sleeping for four hours.
After waking up and washing her face, she felt much more awake. Looking at the twins' dazed and sleepy looks, Jiang Yue couldn't help but teasing the two children for a while. As a result, she was scolded by Chen for a long time. She woke them up and made them cry, but she didn't comfort them. So Chen was the one who suffered.
After getting up, they had no time to eat. They had to walk a little longer while the weather was not so hot. If they were hungry, they could either eat dry food or wait until noon when the sun was shining brightly to eat. When they arrived at the county town, it was just daybreak and there were already people setting up stalls on the roadside. Father Jiang and Bai Ze discussed it and decided to eat something before continuing to walk and let the animals rest.
After parking the car, they fed the mules grass and gave them water. Everyone had a bowl of noodles. Jiang Yue took a bite and although it was not pure white noodles, it tasted very good. The twins wanted to go out and play but were ruthlessly suppressed. After eating and paying the bill, they continued their journey through the county town. By almost eleven o'clock, the weather was too hot to travel, so they found a place under the shade of a tree and planned to set off in the afternoon.
By two o'clock in the afternoon, the sunlight was not so strong anymore, so I harnessed the mule to the cart, waited for everyone to get on the cart and started off. It was dark by 7 o'clock in the evening. We were not in a hurry on the first day, and now there was no village or shop nearby, so we left the main road and found an open place to the side to set up camp.
After getting out of the car, Jiang Yue stretched her muscles. The twins were quite excited in the morning but became listless at the end of the day. Jiang Yue carried the twins out of the car and they regained some energy. Jiang's father and Bai Ze parked the car in a circle to ward off wild beasts at night. Chen and the female puppet Bai Xiaoyu prepared to make a fire and cook, while Jiang Yue took the three children to prepare a sleeping place.
There is nothing special about sleeping nowadays. Jiang Yue found a flat ground, cleared the stones on the ground, spread a straw mat and bedding on it. After Jiang Yue finished, Chen and Bai had already boiled the water. Each person had a bowl of hot water, and they baked the dry food they brought and the meal was ready.
Night is different from noon. At night, you still have to guard against animals like wild wolves. Even if you can do it, you can't do it too well. After a simple meal and discussing the order of night watch, Jiang Yue took his younger brother and sister to sleep. There is no need to worry about safety with Bai Ze around. At most, it will be a close call.
The second and third days were uneventful. After dinner on the fourth night, Jiang's father and Bai Ze looked at the map to make sure they were not in the wrong place, so they would reach Shima County the next afternoon. The two families agreed to rest for two days after arriving in Shima County, have a good sleep and take a bath, and then replenish dry food and supplies before setting off again.
The next afternoon, they arrived at Shima County and found an inn to stay in. After eating a hot meal, they went to the bathroom to take a shower. The Bai Ze family was pretending to be tired, but the Jiang Yue family was really tired. After taking a shower, they hurried back to their room to sleep. They slept until noon the next day, and the pain in their bodies was relieved a lot. After the two families met up, they went to stroll around Shima County.
Because of the war, there were not many people in the city. Jiang Yue saw people queuing up in front of the grain store to buy food, and there were also horse-drawn carriages going out of the city. Of course, there were more people entering the city to seek refuge. After a walk around, the two little guys bought a bunch of snacks. They had been feeling pent up for the past few days, but fortunately they were sensible and not the kind of naughty kids. Although they were unhappy on the road, they did not make any trouble.
After returning to the inn, they all lay on the bed and didn't want to move. Jiang's father and Bai Ze went to prepare dry food. It was unrealistic to make it by themselves now, so they had to buy ready-made food. The good thing was that the inn sold it and they didn't have to run around. Then they spent extra money to let the waiter take good care of the four mules. The four mules were actually fine. Jiang Yue was afraid that they would give up halfway, so he fed them with elixirs for spiritual beasts. Jiang's father felt that they were very obedient and tough when he drove them, and he thought he had good taste. He even showed off to Bai Ze before.
Two days passed in a flash. We packed our things and prepared to set off. We had a big last meal in the inn and packed up a portion for the next day. We set off again early the next morning. There were many days like this. The journey to the capital would take at least two or three months. If we encountered bandits, defeated soldiers and the like, we might even have to give way. We didn't know how long it would take.
