Quick Wear: Passerby A's Daily Life of Eating Watermelons

Chapter 14: A stranger in the spy world of the Republic of China

After walking a little further, Jiang Yue waved to stop a rickshaw and then sped towards safe house No. 2.

Safe House No. 2 is located near the Traditional Chinese Medicine School where Jiang Yue originally planned to study. When the situation became serious, Jiang Yue forged several identities. Here, he is a teacher. He usually lives in the school to teach students, occasionally goes home to stay for a few days, and also treats neighbors.

Even Aunt Fang became his mother, and his apprentice became his daughter. After Jiang Yue divorced his wife, the child lived with his wife. When he was on vacation, his mother would bring the child here to stay for a few days to accompany him.

When we got to the safe house, Aunt Fang was chatting and laughing with the neighbors. When she saw Jiang Yue on the rickshaw, she said with a smile, "You're back. Did you pick up the child?"

Jiang Yue carried her apprentice out of the car and said, "I got it. This holiday is long, so you should stay a few more days."

Aunt Fang hugged the child and looked him up and down and said, "Okay, since my grandson is here, I will stay a few more days. My grandson has become thinner."

Jiang Yue was carrying a suitcase, and Aunt Fang was holding her apprentice's hand. Neighbors on the roadside also greeted them: "Hello, Teacher Sun, is it holiday again?"

"Hello, Aunt Li. Yes, let's keep it for a few more days this time. How is your grandson's asthma? Is the medicine I prescribed last time effective?"

"It's effective. It worked. I didn't have any relapses last winter. You're amazing. I've seen so many doctors but none of them worked. But your medicine cured me."

"Haha, that's good. Bring your grandson to my house tomorrow and I'll check his pulse to see if I need to change the medicine."

"Okay! Thank you so much."

Jiang Yue greeted the neighbors as she walked, and only felt relieved after entering the house. Aunt Fang poured a glass of water for Jiang Yue and asked, "Did Xiaoxin have an accident?"

Jiang Yue nodded without saying anything. Aunt Fang watched Jiang Yue take the child downstairs. Jiang Yue stayed in the room alone, thinking about what had happened.

The other party came too quickly. It should be that Chen Xin and I worked together. There should not be any problem with Chen Xin, otherwise Chen Xin would have been arrested long ago, and it would be impossible for him to notify me. So what was the reason?

Jiang Yue thought of various situations. The most likely one was that someone had betrayed him. This person had seen both him and Chen Xin at the same time, but he had changed his appearance every time. It seemed that when Chen Xin was injured, he was too anxious during the day and went there without changing his appearance. It seemed that he was finally arrested and could not stand the test and betrayed him. It seemed that the stranger who appeared near his home a few days ago was also looking for him.

I don’t know what’s going on with Chen Xin now, and I don’t know if she is safe. I told Chen Xin about this safe house before, and now I can only live here for a few days to see what the situation is before making any plans.

Jiang Yue had just sorted out his thoughts when Aunt Fang had already prepared the meal. The few of them were in no mood, so they ate a few mouthfuls of food in a hurry and went to rest.

The next day, Jiang Yue treated the neighbors who came to visit her at home, while Aunt Fang went to the market to buy vegetables and inquire about the news. She learned that he was wanted by the whole city. It seemed that they could not stay in Shanghai, otherwise with the abilities of Jiang Yue and the other three, they would not live until next week.

Jiang Yue asked Aunt Fang to stay at home with the child. She went to different stations and bought three tickets to Hangzhou. She also applied for and published a missing person notice, which roughly meant that Jiang Yue would leave Shanghai within three days, and if Chen Xin could see her, he should go to safe house No. 2.

When buying the ticket, she saw that the station was blocked and people traveling were strictly checked. After returning home, Jiang Yue packed up the things she needed for the trip and checked the disguise tools and clothes in the safe house. Jiang Yue and her friends would stay in this place for three days at most and then leave. If they couldn't wait for Chen Xin during this period, there would be nothing they could do.

Time passed slowly and it was already the afternoon of the next day. Chen Xin still didn't come. Jiang Yue and Aunt Fang were anxiously waiting for news from Chen Xin. When they still didn't get any news until the evening, Jiang Yue decided not to wait any longer, otherwise if they were caught, they might not be able to survive the interrogation.

Late at night, Jiang Yue carefully put makeup on Aunt Jiang and her apprentice, and gave the prepared potion to her apprentice to drink. People can disguise their voices but not their voices. This potion can make the throat hoarse, like a cold, which can also reduce the chance of being discovered.

We dressed them in camouflage clothes, and arranged the contents of the boxes according to the reasons prepared in advance. Today, we let them sleep in the clothes, and then put on makeup in front of the mirror. By the time everything was ready, it was already midnight. After a few hours of rest, it was already early morning and it was time to act.

Jiang Yue took Aunt Fang and his apprentice to the station they had chosen three days ago by tram. This station was relatively relaxed, so Jiang Yue planned to let Aunt Fang and his apprentice take this train first and meet up in Hangzhou. Seeing that the train had already started checking tickets, Jiang Yue lined up with Aunt Fang and his apprentice with trepidation. When it was their turn, the person at the checkpoint asked, "Where are you going?"

Aunt Fang said nervously, "Go back to Hangzhou."

"Documents! Why did you come to Shanghai?"

Aunt Fang handed him the certificate and rubbed her handkerchief again: "My daughter-in-law is dead. Bring the child to see his father."

“Why don’t you stay in Shanghai?”

Jiang Yue smiled bitterly and said, "Boss, I have to go to work and have no time to take care of the child. My parents have been taking care of the child. The child caught a cold after just a few days in Shanghai. He is going home now that he is getting better."

At this time, the apprentice coughed a few times to suit the occasion. The person at the checkpoint looked at the ID and then at the apprentice and asked, "What's your name?" Jiang Yue was about to answer when he was interrupted by him waving his hand, indicating that the apprentice should answer himself.

Aunt Fang patted her apprentice on the shoulder and the apprentice said, "Sun Xiaoyu."

Because I drank the medicine in advance, my voice was hoarse. Unexpectedly, the officer was still worried and asked, "Why don't you wait until the child is well before going back?"

Jiang Yue smiled bitterly: "Sir, medical treatment in Shanghai is too expensive." Jiang Yue's face was a little embarrassed: "And ordinary people like us can't even buy cold medicine now, so we can only go back to our hometown to think of a solution."

The inspecting officer didn't know whether to do it or not, and asked Jiang Yue to open the two boxes. Jiang Yue quickly opened the boxes and put them on the table. He looked through the boxes and found only some clothes and snacks that Jiang Yue had bought in advance. Then he opened the small box and found only a few picture books and some toys. Then he waved his hand and asked Aunt Fang and the apprentice to hurry over.

Jiang Yue closed the box and handed it to Aunt Fang. Seeing that the officer was still watching them out of the corner of his eye, Jiang Yue hurriedly said, "Mom, be careful on the road. Remember to send me a telegram when you get home. I will go back to see you after I finish my work."

"Okay, okay, mom remembers. You have to take care of yourself here. If you can't make any money, go back home. You can't make much money here. It's better to go home. The child can't live without a father."

The two of them kept instructing each other for a long time, and when the train was about to leave, Aunt Fang took her apprentice on board. Jiang Yue looked reluctant to leave, and after the train started, he stood there in a daze for a moment before starting to walk out.

The officer inspecting over there didn't notice anything unusual and didn't pay any attention to them. Jiang Yue walked out of the station and onto the road. He should have gone directly to the next station to leave, but he was worried about Chen Xin, so he decided to wait a little longer to see if he could see her, otherwise this farewell might be forever.
