Searching for Treasures in the Clouds
Chapter 381 Taking the blame
With a heavy heart, Yu Wen returned to Yun Quan's room to check on him. Yun Quan had already retired for the night, lying curled up on the bed. Seeing this, Yu Wen went to his side, covered him with a blanket, and then left the room to inform Yun Jianyue.
Before long, Yun Jianyue arrived. Seeing Yu Wen standing guard at the door, he waved his hand and said, "Go and rest. Don't run around with your arms and legs broken."
"Yes, sir."
Yun Jianyue gently pushed open the door and went inside, heading straight to Yun Quan's bedside. There was a small sofa next to the bed, and he sat down on it.
In fact, Yun Quan wasn't asleep; he was just resting with his eyes closed. He recognized the person as Yun Jianyue from the footsteps. He had nothing to say to his father, so he continued to pretend to be asleep. Unexpectedly, Yun Jianyue stared at him for a long time without leaving, and then, for some unknown reason, suddenly touched his hand, turning it over and over, looking at it repeatedly, making Yun Quan feel nauseous.
However, he still didn't want to talk to Yun Jianyue even more than that, so he continued to pretend to be asleep.
After examining Yun Quan's ten fingers, Yun Jianyue then ran her fingers through his hair to look at his scalp. After this, she leaned back against the sofa, crossed her legs, and placed her hands on her lap, looking at Yun Quan and saying in a deep voice, "Yun Quan, open your eyes when you're awake."
Yun Quan opened his eyes instantly, his expression clear. He didn't look at Yun Jianyue, but instead looked at the bed curtains above him.
“Yun Quan, you don’t have AIDS.” Yun Jianyue said with certainty.
"What do you mean I didn't? What did they inject me with, glucose? Are those wicked people afraid I'll get beaten to death and give me glucose to replenish my strength?" Yun Quan said with a sneer.
"No, you don't. I've seen your medical report, and everything is normal. You just had some minor injuries."
Yun Quan knew he couldn't hide the fact that he didn't have AIDS for long, so he simply acquiesced to his father's words. "Oh."
Yun Jianyue stared intently at Yun Quan, her face expressionless. "Try not to go out during this time, and avoid dealing with the old foxes in business and politics. The people investigating the tax case are coming again."
Yun Quan turned to look at him, his voice casual, "What do you plan to do?"
"Just find a scapegoat. I'll let you know if there are any new developments." With that, Yun Jianyue stood up. "Get some rest. You don't have AIDS, so don't think too much."
Yun Quan stared at him intently without replying.
Yun Jianyue quietly watched his son, who, without him noticing, always seemed to be going against him, a rebellious spirit at heart. He stared at his lips for a while, then looked into his eyes. Yun Quan remained indifferent, unwilling to speak.
He didn't say anything more and turned to leave.
Two days later,
Yun Jianyue took Lu Jingqian to visit his chosen scapegoat—Mu Cheng.
Mu Cheng was ill, quite seriously. Sitting face-to-face with Yun Jianyue this time, he lacked his usual respect, maintaining only basic politeness, his attitude mostly perfunctory. "President Yun, what brings you here today?"
Yun Jianyue smiled slightly as she sized him up. Observing his sallow complexion, grayish eyes, thin limbs, and slightly protruding abdomen, she made a rough judgment about his condition. Seeing that he was listless and seemed unwilling to talk to anyone, she didn't waste any words and directly stated her purpose.
Upon hearing this, Mu Cheng's expression worsened. He slumped weakly in his chair and said feebly, "President Yun, as you can see, I'm sick. I can't get anything done like this... It hurts even to walk. Please, have mercy on me..."
Yun Jianyue remained calm and smiling. "Mu Cheng, that's exactly why I came to find you."
“If you take the blame for me, I’ll guarantee your wife a worry-free life, and I’ll also take care of your childhood sweetheart and illegitimate child whom you’ve been keeping outside.” Yun Jianyue leaned back, her legs slightly apart, displaying a relaxed posture.
"Mu Cheng, you are a talented and capable man, but also quite greedy. Among those implicated in this tax case, the amount of money you amassed is among the highest. However, your sons are all good-for-nothings. Without you as their father to support the family, your hard-earned fortune will be squandered by your sons in less than three years. But you are still fortunate that your son with your first love is intelligent, but he is in poor health. No matter how intelligent he is, if he has a sick body to fight against others, he will lose in terms of energy and spirit from the start."
As she spoke, Yun Jianyue took out a folder and placed it on the table. "This is my resume. You can take a look. I am a businesswoman, but I also have a hobby of being a doctor. Coincidentally, my area of expertise is exactly what your smart son's illness is like. If you take the blame for me, I can help treat your son."
Upon hearing this, Mu Cheng's expression was no longer as indifferent as before. He glanced at Yun Jianyue, reached out and pulled the document on the table to his face, picked it up, and opened it.
After a long while, having roughly read through the contents of the document, he looked up, his expression brightening. Clearly, the document's contents had moved him. "Mr. Yun, what is your relationship with Yu Jianyue? Can you persuade him to treat my son?"
Yu Jianyue, Yun Jianyue's other identity, is a renowned liver disease expert who has cured many patients with severe liver disease and enjoys considerable prestige in the medical field.
Yun Jianyue reached out and took the document back. He hugged it to his chest and looked at Mu Cheng with a smile, saying, "I am Yu Jianyue. This is my other identity. When I wasn't doing business, I performed surgeries, do you understand? I graduated from Huaguo Medical University with a PhD in Biology and have some insights into gene and cell research. I also minored in organ conditioning, and I'm particularly skilled in liver diseases. Your son also has liver disease, and he was born with it. Maybe I can cure him."
Mu Cheng was silent for a long time before asking, "President Yun, then... look at me. I also have liver disease, and the doctor said I'm beyond help. Look at me, is there any hope? And my son, you know so much about my situation, so you must have seen my son, right? Can his condition be cured?"
Yun Jianyue looked him up and down carefully and replied, "Your son can be saved. As for you... it's too late. You only have less than two months to live. But I can help you extend that time to six months and make sure you don't suffer before you die. Right now, you probably feel weak when you walk, always feel nauseous, and can't even eat, right? And you toss and turn every night and have trouble sleeping."
"Yes, yes, that's exactly my symptom, Mr. Yun. Do you have a way to alleviate my pain? What's the treatment? Do I need surgery?" Mu Cheng was very excited. His emotions were so volatile that he couldn't speak clearly, and some saliva flew out of his mouth.
Yun Jianyue frowned imperceptibly, suppressing the urge to dodge, and calmly sat down in the chair, replying, "Mu Cheng, how to treat you depends on your specific condition, but right now I'm in dire straits myself and can't treat you either. Think about taking the blame."
"If you take the blame for this crime, you'll definitely be sentenced to death. Anyway, you're going to die sooner or later; it's just a matter of time. Helping me is a good deed, and it will also bring good fortune to your descendants. Heaven will appreciate your concern for your family and your devoted heart. You'll probably feel better in the underworld. Why not do it?"
"President Yun...you, you let me think about it carefully, what you said makes sense." After talking for so long, Mu Cheng was a little exhausted. He took a few deep breaths, his body went limp, and he slumped into the chair.
His half-dead state made Yun Jianyue worried that he might suddenly die; that wouldn't do, otherwise no one would take the blame for him. So, he took out the reagent he had prepared beforehand and injected Mu Cheng with it.
About fifteen minutes later, Mu Cheng sat up in surprise. He looked at Yun Jianyue with a happy expression and said, "President Yun, I feel like I don't feel so bad anymore. Your medicine is really amazing. Where... did you buy it?"
"I invented this; you can't buy it anywhere else. This stuff won't cure you, it can only suppress the viral cells in your body and make you feel a little better. For your first injection, I'm giving you a small amount, enough to keep you in less pain for about three days. During these three days, you should think carefully about taking the blame."
“I’m not the kind of person who would betray someone after using them. This isn’t the first time I’ve entrusted someone with my child. You can ask around and see for yourself; I’m a very trustworthy person.”
"Okay, Mr. Yun, I will give this matter a serious consideration." This time, Mu Cheng's reply was more solemn.
