Searching for Treasures in the Clouds

Chapter 10: Persistent Pursuit

The handkerchief was neatly folded, made of pure cotton, with green thread on the edge, and embroidered with a small clump of bamboo and a little panda. Yu Ru was a little surprised by this handkerchief. She didn't expect that in this day and age, there are still people using handkerchiefs, and it's a man.

To be honest, Yunjixing's use of the handkerchief touched her preferences, and the handkerchief was also her favorite style. But even so, she couldn't accept the handkerchief. She felt that such behavior was too ambiguous, and rejected the handkerchief without thinking.

[No, thank you.]

"Oh, okay." Yun Jixing put the handkerchief back into his pocket as if nothing had happened. For a moment, he could no longer think of anything else to communicate with Yu Ru, so he stood aside and watched her pack up her stall.

Yu Ru rented a house near this primary school. It was quite close to the primary school and she could walk there. After packing everything, she pulled the small trailer and prepared to go home.

Yun Jixing immediately asked, "Yu Ru, I heard that something happened around here recently. It seems that someone killed someone and may be lurking around here and trying to escape. Do you want me to take you back? You're a girl... it would be safer if someone accompanies you."

Something really happened nearby. Someone did kill someone. It was a husband who suddenly went mad and killed his wife. This family lived in a building opposite Yu Ru's house. There were two elderly people in the family, and they are the only ones living there now.

After hearing Yun Jixing's words, Yu Ru's first reaction was that he, a person who didn't live here, actually knew so much about what was going on here. She couldn't help but wonder if he was tracking and investigating her.

[Do you live here? Why do you know about this place?] Yu Ru looked a little confused.

Yun Jixing understood sign language, and seeing her expression, he guessed that she might have misunderstood something.

He quickly pointed in a direction and said, "I came here today to wait for you to set up your stall. I overheard a few old ladies chatting there and heard them say this."

Yu Ru nodded, "I understand. Go back now. Goodbye."

Yun Jixing was still worried about her going back alone, so he quietly followed her, but he didn't follow her for too long, otherwise it would be considered an invasion of her privacy. He followed for a while, and when he saw that there were many pedestrians on the road that Yu Ru was going to take, he felt relieved and turned to leave.

He didn't know that Yu Ru actually realized that someone was following her, so the road she was taking was not the road leading to her home, she was just wandering around.

After Yun Jixing left, she intuitively felt that the gaze that had been watching her from behind was gone, so she looked back and saw that Yun Jixing was gone, so she turned around and walked quickly towards her home.

After the murder incident, she hadn't dared to go out for some time. Although she lived in a nearby place with many residents around, she was still afraid to walk back home alone.

She looked around and observed everything along the way. After about ten minutes, she finally arrived at her home.

With the landlord's consent, she converted the rental house she lives in now into a pastoral-style cottage, and she has placed a lot of green plants and flowers on the table on the basement.

Everything was just the way she liked it. Only when she returned to this small home that she had remodeled with her own hands did she feel a little safe and free from the fear of coming back alone.

Yu Ru pulled the cart to a corner of the living room and put it away, then stopped caring about it. She first turned on the small electric fan next to the sofa, then walked over to the sofa and lay down, then pulled up the thin blanket beside her and covered herself with it.

She curled up on the sofa, about to fall asleep when her cell phone beside her rang several times in succession.

Worried that someone was looking for her to cooperate, she didn't want to miss the opportunity to make money, so she immediately woke up and picked up her phone to check the message. It turned out that the person who sent the message was not looking for her to discuss cooperation, but Yun Jixing.

He sent three photos and five text messages. The content was nothing special, just some trivial daily stuff.

He said that he saw a bouquet of flowers in the flower shop and thought it was very beautiful. He asked her if she liked this kind of flowers and wanted to buy one for her. He then said that he had already got in the car and was ready to leave. Besides, he had a poor appetite recently and the glutinous rice she made tasted good to him. He had a few pieces left and planned to take them back for dinner.

In addition, he also wanted to buy her glutinous rice and hoped that she could tell him the next time she would sell glutinous rice so that he could come here in advance to buy it next time.

Yu Ru frowned and stared at the chat interface on her phone. After staring for a while, she threw the phone aside in annoyance and continued to curl up on the sofa with her eyes closed to rest.

Yunjixing had made it clear two years ago that he wanted to pursue her. She was a normal woman who also had desires and a pursuit of love. If a man with decent material conditions and good character pursued her, and she was interested in him, she could try to see if they could get along.

But everything about Yun Jixing seemed to be beyond her imagination. Once she saw the car Yun Jixing was driving and felt it was not simple. She didn’t know the brand of the car, but it must be a luxury car.

From this, she realized that she and the other person were not people of the same level, and being with him was not a relationship she could control. She had no sex to serve, no money to gain, no power to seek, and no influence to gain. Rather than him liking her, she believed that he wanted to steal her waist and approached her so much.

Well, if the person is not suitable, there is no need for the story to happen, so she told Yun Jixing everything and told him not to waste his time on her. But he was so determined that he persisted until now. She tried to persuade him to quit many times, but he still pursued her.

After dozing off with her eyes closed for a while, Yu Ru picked up her phone again and replied to Yun Jixing's message. She didn't want to talk too much and just said: I won't sell glutinous rice anymore, there won't be a next time.

She plans to sell grilled sausages.

After replying the message, she stared blankly at the ceiling.

There were many times when she thought about deleting or blocking Yun Jixing's contact information, so that there wouldn't be so many entanglements, and she wouldn't be bothered, and she wouldn't waste other people's emotions and time.

But she felt that Yun Jixing seemed to be a good person, and it would be a bit bad to delete his contact information rashly. It would be hurtful. Moreover, he was one of the people in her circle of friends who could increase her information density, which was helpful to her. It would be a pity to delete him.

The more Yu Ru thought about it, the more annoyed she became. She sat up again and started to stare blankly.

In her house, besides bottles and jars, the most common items are flowers and plants, and then dolls. She put dolls on the sofa, table, and any other surface that can be used to place things.

Each doll is of different sizes, but no more than half a arm’s height. She covered all the dolls’ eyes with cloth strips or ribbons.

After a moment, she grabbed a lamb doll on the sofa with one hand and threw it hard to the ground. After throwing this one, she started to throw another one.

Her breathing suddenly became rapid and her heart beat violently. After taking a few deep breaths, she stood up and walked around the room until she threw all the dolls to the ground.

Those dolls were like demons that wouldn't let go of her. They held her in heavy chains, so tight that she couldn't breathe. In order to stay alive, she had to grab them one by one and throw them hard on the ground.

The harder she falls, the less likely those demons are to survive, and she will be able to survive.
