My Little Pony: Another World Adventure
Chapter 21 Don’t worry about him
"Where were you last night?"
At 11:15 in the morning, Latan stood outside the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom on the fourth floor of the castle, seven Lockhart books under his arms, looking down at Marenia without blinking.
Malenia was wearing a white shirt, a red skirt, a gold and red striped tie, an off-white sleeveless wool round-necked sweater, and a short-hemmed robe, exposing her two prosthetic calves.
She was holding Lockhart's book against her chest, and the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor's face was grinning foolishly at everyone who looked at him, as if his voice and appearance were still vivid in her mind.
Hearing Latan's question, Marenia smiled faintly, raised her brass right arm to signal the students around her, and said, "Are you sure you want to know the answer now?"
Latan looked down and saw that in addition to his two fellow supervisors, Colin also pricked up his ears curiously, and Ginny tightly grasped the hem of his robe, looking at Marennia with the eyes of a dragon guarding treasure.
Weren't they on good terms before? How did they become hostile again? I really don't understand girls' way of thinking...
But Marenia was right, now was not the right time to talk about this.
"Good morning! My fans! I'm so sorry I'm late!" Lockhart's voice made Latan's face pull long. The star wizard and best-selling author jumped out of the office dramatically in a peacock blue robe, baring eight shiny white teeth and holding a large cage covered with a shroud in his hand.
The whistling and vibration coming from the cage made Colin very nervous. He asked, "Professor, what's in there?"
"Why, Colin, isn't it obvious?" Latan heard Dante say in a limp voice. "Of course it's a cage full of Mr. Lockhart's fans."
Minamoto Kiyotaka laughed very rudely and he quickly covered it up with a dry cough.
Lockhart's smile froze for a moment, then immediately brightened again. He opened the door of the classroom with the key and said, "This is a little surprise I prepared for you. They are the most terrifying creatures in the wizarding world - of course, they have been completely conquered by me, Gilderoy Lockhart! Come on, come in."
There was a faint smell of garlic in the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom. Everyone rushed in and chose their favorite seats to sit down. Latan consciously stood at the back of the classroom.
Before he could even use gravity magic to float Lockhart's works to cover his face, he heard Lockhart himself say: "How can our little giant (Latan clenched his fists) stand in class? This won't do!"
Lockhart pulled his wand out from his peacock-blue robes (oddly, there was no bow tied around it), waved his wrist in a whimsical motion, and poked an empty chair. "Get bigger!"
The chair trembled, and then with a "pop" sound, a pink flower bloomed from the back of the chair.
"Oh, that's what I thought!" Lockhart picked a flower and gave it to a girl who looked like she would faint from excitement at any moment. "Dear, if you want an autographed photo, you can always come to my office."
Latan took out the diary from his arms expressionlessly, Dante yawned so loud that the whole classroom could hear it, and Minamoto Kiyotaka bit his fist with his teeth to prevent himself from laughing again.
Lockhart acted as if he hadn't heard anything. He took the copy of Running with Trolls from Colin, who was sitting in the front row, and held it up in his hand, showing the winking picture of himself on the cover.
"Me!" He pointed his wand at his own photo and blinked, "Gilderoy Lockhart, winner of the Third Class Order of Merlin, honorary member of the Dark Arts Defense League, and winner of the Most Charming Smile Award from Witch Weekly for five consecutive times - but I don't often mention this, I didn't drive away the female ghost of Wanlun with a smile!"
He opened his arms, obviously expecting laughter.
Latan lowered his head amid the polite laughter of the crowd and wrote in pencil in his diary: "I killed someone."
Tom in the book replied almost immediately: "I feel it. Very good, you are better than I thought. Ruthless, cruel, and decisive. These are the qualities that people who accomplish great things must possess. Then according to the agreement, I should teach you the advanced casting of the Unforgivable Curse-"
"I'm no longer interested in these three spells."
Latan interrupted Tom's strokes. He already had the "Secrets of the Golden Elixir" and the magnetic field emblem. It would be more convenient to use these two things to kill people without worrying about the Ministry of Magic tracking the traces of the spell.
He wrote heavily: "Now I just want to know who you are."
Tom was silent for a moment, and his handwriting revealed a pleading attitude: "Who I am, is it really that important to you?"
"Most importantly, you have to satisfy my curiosity," Latan wrote without room for argument. "Reveal your identity, or I will test how many times the gravity this book can withstand without breaking."
"I am..." Tom's handwriting was full of confusion, "...Tom Marvolo Riddle. I used to be a student at Hogwarts, just like you. There is a medal in the trophy display room. It is the special contribution award I received."
Latan narrowed his eyes slightly. He keenly felt that Tom was answering his question in an evasive way. The identity of Tom Marvolo Riddle might be real, but the same thing applies - there are too many people with this name.
It's the kind that if you shout "Tom" in the auditorium, three dozen people will turn around.
Before he could think about it, he felt someone tapping his elbow, and when he looked down, he was met with Lockhart's bright smile. It was hard for Latan not to notice the bright blush on his face.
"This is a quiz," said Lockhart, handing Latan a piece of parchment. "Don't be afraid - you all bought my book, which is good. I just want to see how much you have absorbed from the book and how well you understand it..."
After handing out the papers, he returned to the podium and said, "I'll give you thirty minutes. Now - start!"
Latan frowned and opened the test paper. The muscles on his cheeks twitched slightly. On the paper were written:
1.What is Gilderoy Lockhart’s favorite color?
2. What was Gilderoy Lockhart's secret ambition?
3. What do you think is Gilderoy Lockhart’s greatest achievement to date?
……
There were so many questions like this, which took up three pages of paper. The last question was:
54. When is Gilderoy Lockhart’s birthday? What would be his ideal birthday present?
Latan resisted the urge to tear up the paper.
What kind of vain narcissist would have to be to write this test? And what kind of fanatic fan would have to be to answer all these questions correctly?
Time passed minute by minute, and Latan refused to write a single word on the paper. At the same time, he saw "?" floating above Ginny's head one after another. Colin, who was sitting in the front row, was flipping through a book secretly in Lockhart's blind spot. Dante and Minamoto Kiyotaka were playing tic-tac-toe with the test papers under the table.
Everyone is busy, but no one knows what they are busy with.
Latan turned to look at Malenia by the window. She stretched her fingers out of the window and caught a butterfly that shouldn't have appeared in this season.
She moved her lips towards the butterfly, and the beautiful but fragile creature fluttered its wings like bloody dead leaves, lightly and silently passed through the classroom, and landed on Latan's test paper, festering into a pool of pungent red liquid, outlining a sentence:
"I'll meet you in the Forbidden Forest tonight. You come alone."
This suggestive whisper dissipated into the air, Latan's cheeks flushed and his heartbeat accelerated.
So that's it, the Forbidden Forest...what a perfect place.
Do you want to fight me one on one? No problem!
Let’s throw away the red tape and have a good fight!
Half an hour later, Lockhart collected the papers and looked through them in front of the whole class.
"Tsk, tsk... almost no one remembers that I like lilac. I mentioned that in A Year with the Tibetan Snowman. A few classmates know that I invented the bird snake egg yolk shampoo - I must say, although it is a little expensive (only 40 galleons) and a little dangerous (it will burn your scalp), it is definitely worth it."
He winked at the students mischievously again, as if he found himself very funny.
Latan felt the protein powder he had drunk not long ago rising up his throat, Dante stared at Lockhart as if he saw a troll dancing ballet, and Minamoto Kiyotaka laughed silently until his whole body was shaking.
"There are still a few students who need to correct their study attitudes," Lockhart said, showing a few blank or scribbled test papers, his eyes looking at Latan in the last row, "I won't call out their names here. But I want to give you a piece of advice: if you only have fame but no ability, you won't go far."
Dante looked back at Latan, poked Minamoto Kiyotaka's waist, and whispered, "I don't know how Lockhart can still laugh. If Latan looked at me like that, I would have peed my pants."
"Ignorance is bliss." Minamoto Kiyotaka said, and he laughed even harder.
"Well, I hope you can all continue to study hard and get a perfect score like your senior sister Hermione Granger." Lockhart suddenly came up with a classic example of the fan effect, and then clapped his hands vigorously, "Now, let's get back to the topic..."
He picked up the large draped cage and placed it on the podium.
"Be careful! Children, my job is to teach you to defend yourself against the worst evil the wizarding world has ever known! You will face the most horrible things in this classroom! But remember, as long as I am here, no harm will come to you. All I ask is that you remain calm."
Latan heard a well-concealed uneasiness in his voice. Lockhart put his hand on the slightly trembling cage, Ginny raised an eyebrow, Minamoto stopped laughing, and Colin in the front row shrank back.
"I must ask you not to scream." Lockhart lowered his voice like a magician about to reveal a secret. "It will anger them."
The students held their breath as Lockhart flung open the cage cover.
"Ding-ding!" he said dramatically. "Freshly caught Cornish pixie!"
Looking at the skinny humanoid creatures in the cage with flapping transparent wings, Latan let out a long sigh and turned to the window like Marlennia.
I actually still had such unrealistic expectations of Lockhart. This is really stupid (German: it’s really stupid).
The Cornish pixies, about 8 inches (20 centimeters) tall, with iron-blue skin and faces as high as their throats, started jumping up and down in their cages as soon as they saw the light, shaking the bars and making faces at Colin.
Lockhart was obviously dissatisfied with the crowd's indifferent reaction. He said seriously: "Don't underestimate these guys. They are destroyers as cunning as the devil. In the last class, they even hung a student on the chandelier..."
"You're not going to let them out, are you?" Ginny asked, as if Mrs. Weasley had seen a garden full of gnomes.
Then she saw, to her horror, that Lockhart's face broke into a smile.
"That's my duty, lovely lady!"
He flung open the cage door, and the elves rushed out like rockets, flying everywhere under the ceiling. Now all hell broke loose, and several of the elves broke through the windows and rushed out, scattering broken glass all over the floor, with their little arms and heads hanging on the broken glass of the window frame.
