My Little Pony: Another World Adventure
Chapter 19: Night Birds Fly
Latan watched as Dumbledore walked to the center of the guest of honor table. The Hogwarts headmaster picked up the silver spoon and tapped it lightly on the rim of the golden cup in his palm.
The soft and crisp sound drowned out the noise of the students. Everyone involuntarily stopped what they were doing, closed their mouths, and looked at the white-haired old man in the main seat with curious eyes.
"I'm sorry to interrupt your dinner." Dumbledore said in a loud voice, his long eyebrows knitted together, and his blue eyes shot out a sharp and captivating light. "I just want to reiterate one point here: no students are allowed to enter the forest area next to the school grounds."
His tone no longer had the warmth and joy of yesterday, only the hardness and coldness of steel.
The whole classroom was silent, even the sound of breathing almost disappeared. The students first wondered why the principal announced this ordinary school rule so seriously, but soon they understood the deep meaning hidden in his words -
The Forbidden Forest is no longer the picnic spot where you could get lost at most. It has truly become a restricted area for life!
Latan glanced at the faces of the travelers around him and found that almost everyone had a different expression. Some frowned, some were surprised, but no one was laughing secretly.
Either the time traveler who caused the changes in the Forbidden Forest was not in Hogwarts, or the instigator had very good acting skills and was even confident that he could deceive the pair of blue eyes in the guest of honor that were sharper than a knife.
"That's all I want to say." Dumbledore's tone became slightly calmer. "Everyone, continue to enjoy your dinner."
He sat down on the big golden chair, placed his hands in front of his chest with the fingertips touching each other. His whole posture was like a stone sculpture, suppressing the turbulent people's hearts with his calm and steady temperament.
The hall was bombarded with people discussing what had happened in the Forbidden Forest. Various evil conspiracy theories and rumors without any evidence emerged one after another. Some people turned pale because of fear, such as Neville; others thought it was a good opportunity to become famous, such as Lockhart.
Ratan heard the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor loudly assuring every fan who was willing to listen to him: as long as he went into the Forbidden Forest and conducted a detailed investigation, he would definitely be able to get to the bottom of the matter. It was a pity that Professor Dumbledore would not allow him to do so, otherwise...
"If anybody tries to go into the woods now," cried Fred (or George, for the two brothers had the same freckles), "he'd be a real fool!"
Harry's face was solemn. He gathered with Ron and Hermione and said, "Last year, Quirrell was also doing mischief in the Forbidden Forest. Will it be Voldemort again this year?"
"Don't say his name!" said Ron through his gritted teeth.
Ratan embraced Dante and Minamoto Kiyotaka and whispered, "The plan has changed. The exploration of the Forbidden Forest has been cancelled. If the things in the forest are difficult for even Dumbledore to handle, then we will only cause trouble even if we go there. Next, we will focus on the travelers and try to find out who is behind it. Any objections?"
Dante shook his head, while Minamoto Kiyotaka had a heroic look on his face, as if he would commit seppuku in the next second. He said, "It seems that it is time for me to sacrifice my chastity."
The half-giant and the half-demon looked at him curiously. The half-blood stood up and walked to the Slytherin table. A smile that would put flowers to shame bloomed on his face, which was more beautiful than a girl's. He said to a dazzled Slytherin girl, "Senior."
Ignoring his Japanese accent, his voice was sweeter than honey. Latan had reason to suspect that the girl had even forgotten her last name.
"His words are the ghost victory that strengthens the body? Pah!" Dante looked at Minamoto Kiyotaka who was playing both sides at the Slytherin table, as if he was originally a student of the Serpentine Academy, "This is clearly a hypnotic illusion!"
"Are you jealous?" Latan asked, trying not to laugh.
"I'm jealous? Watch carefully!"
Dante unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt and walked towards the Hufflepuff table with a casual step. With a frivolous smile on his young but handsome face, he lifted the chin of a Hufflepuff girl with short black hair with his fingertips and said affectionately, "Woman, you have caught my attention."
The girl poured a whole cup of pumpkin juice on Dante's head, glared at the half-demon who looked like a drowned rat, and cursed: "You bastard!"
"Hey, our great lover is back." Latan looked at Dante who had come back dejectedly, smiled and took out his wand to remove the pumpkin juice from the half-demon's body, "Why didn't the girl fall in love with you at first sight?"
"What do you know? This is called love growing over time." Dante was still stubborn. "In another five years - no, three years - in three years she will definitely fall in love with me!"
Latarn patted Dante on the shoulder and consoled him: "It is important to know yourself, buddy."
"Is that how you comfort people?" Dante roared.
"Why don't I give it a try?" Ratan stroked his chin and looked towards Ravenclaw College. "With my knowledge and scholarly temperament, I should be able to fit in smoothly."
Dante looked at Latarn's pectoral muscles that were about to burst through his shirt and his strong arms that couldn't even be covered by his robe. He quickly grabbed the red-haired giant and said sincerely: "It's important to know yourself, buddy!"
It was not until the end of dinner that Minamoto Kiyotaka came out of the crowd with two large bags of love tokens. With lipstick marks all over his face, he said to his two colleagues, "I have asked questions from the first grade to the seventh grade. Unfortunately, apart from birthdays and measurements that I don't want to know, there are no clues about the Forbidden Forest."
Ratan looked up from the Golden Elixir Secrets, looked at Minamoto Kiyotaka, whose hair was disheveled and whose clothes were almost all gone, and said sincerely, "Thank you for your hard work."
That group of people (not just girls, but boys as well, because this is the UK) didn't spare anybody from going anywhere.
"What are all these things you brought back?" Dante rummaged through the two large plastic bags. "Lipstick, hair bands, bracelets, rings, wallets - wow!"
He pulled out a pair of yellowed white underwear from one of the bags and said to Minamoto Kiyotaka, whose face changed in shock, "I can use this thing as a swimming ring."
"If you like it, keep it." Minamoto Kiyotaka's face turned green, "I feel a little uncomfortable in my stomach."
"Speaking of the ring."
Latan changed the topic that made him physically uncomfortable, took out the storage ring inlaid with cat's eye from his pocket, and threw it to Minamoto Kiyotaka: "I bought this storage ring from a time traveler. It can hold more than 500 cubic meters of things. I can't wear it anymore, so I give it to you."
"Why don't you give it to me?" Dante said resentfully.
Latarn shouted angrily: "Put down the underwear in your hand first!"
Yuan Qinglong fumbled to inject magic power into the ring, and immediately "saw" the stuffed anti-gas suit, fitness equipment and protein powder cans. This sense of dislocation of seeing the big things from the small made him a little dizzy, and he asked cautiously: "This must be a lot of money, right?"
"Let me see it." Dante threw the yellowed underwear aside, snatched the ring from Minamoto Kiyotaka's hand, and imitated him to inject magic power into it, and then -
"Mamma Mia! Old Ma (Magnus), I have to tell you in advance that I don't have a single penny. I can go to school only because of the 200 Galleons subsidy Dumbledore gave me."
"Money is the least valuable thing." Latan said calmly, "In my opinion, improving our strength is the most important task at the moment. Only when we have power can we truly have everything."
Dante and Minamoto Kiyotaka looked at each other, and after a moment of silence, they said to Latan seriously, "You do have the temperament of a scholar, buddy."
----
At eleven o'clock in the evening, the first-year Gryffindor students, carrying parchment and quills and brass telescopes, climbed up the second highest tower of Hogwarts Castle, the Astronomical Observation Tower, panting.
Latan was also panting, mainly because the spiral staircase leading to the top of the observatory tower was too narrow. Even though he leaned sideways and Dante and Minamoto Kiyotaka pushed him from behind, he still got stuck almost every time he went up a step.
Yuan Qinglong's eyes shone with golden light, his muscles were like rocks, and his dark blue blood vessels twisted on his body like little snakes.
He pushed Ratan's waist and said with a wry smile: "I never thought that my Gui Sheng would be used in such a place."
"At this rate, you won't be able to squeeze into these damn stairs before Thanksgiving." Dante pressed his shoulder against Latan's thigh, gritting his teeth and sweating profusely. "Dude, you really should consider applying for an astronomy class instead of taking one like that blind little Marenia!"
Latan felt that the clothes on his chest and back were about to be worn out. He grabbed the gaps between the stone bricks on the wall and tried to pull himself up without damaging the building. At the same time, he shouted to the two people behind him: "Don't make fun of other people's physical defects!"
"By the way, Latan, how tall can you grow?" Colin followed behind, carrying four brass telescopes on his small body. At first glance, he looked like a metal spider walking. "If you can grow as tall as the castle, can't you just look at the stars outdoors?"
"A pure-blooded giant is only six meters tall, and Hogwarts Castle is more than forty meters tall without the tower." Latarn struggled to move forward. "Do you want me to become Ultraman?"
Minamoto Kiyotaka laughed out loud, patted the red-haired giant's waist and said, "Come on, Ultraman Ratan, you're almost at the top."
Dante muttered quietly, "Why does this sound weird?"
After a tough struggle with the narrow stairs, Latan finally climbed to the top of the astronomical observatory tower.
This is a circular and fairly spacious platform with no windows or walls. There is only a transparent glass spire supported by a few frames. The students have already set up a brass telescope on the guardrail at the edge of the platform and are excitedly using it to look at the moon and stars.
Ms. Sinistra, the astronomy professor, is a tall black witch who wears a purple robe dotted with diamonds. She almost blends into the deep blue and black starry night.
Her voice was ethereal and clear, like the sound of crystals colliding, and even a little otherworldly. Latan had to concentrate to realize that she was explaining the key points of using a telescope, otherwise he would mistake her voice for the whisper of the night wind.
"Next, let's turn our gaze to the north and look for the bright light of the North Star. For us creatures living on Earth, it is the base point of the celestial sphere. Only by finding it can we - don't touch the lens with your hands!"
Professor Sinistra's voice suddenly didn't sound so ethereal anymore.
After the initial novelty wore off, the astronomy class started to become a little dull. The young wizards mechanically adjusted the knobs of the telescope according to Professor Sinistra's instructions, cast their gazes at one piece of starry sky after another that seemed to be no different, and tried to extract the shapes of constellations from those small points of light one by one and draw them on paper.
Latan glanced at Dante's manuscript in the moonlight. The poor piece of parchment looked like a Dalmatian skin.
"Ancient wizards looked up at the universe with their naked eyes and were able to summarize the 88 constellations that contain infinite mysteries." Professor Sinistra said calmly, "Now you are using telescopes, but you tell me that you can't find where the stars are?"
She continued to correct her students' mistakes, murmuring sarcasm and raising her eyebrows or wrinkling her nose at each piece of parchment that looked like it had been abused, until she saw what Latan had drawn.
