【Law of the Abyss】

Chapter 1 Letter from a Foreign Land

Mu Bei received a letter and was a little surprised. In this day and age, people still write letters? And who would write to him?

He has no parents and no friends, and started working to earn money very early. He worked as a waiter in restaurants and bars.

He has also worked as a stock clerk in a supermarket and delivered couriers and takeouts.

With his outstanding grades, he was admitted to the Finance Department of Jiangcheng University. When the admission letter arrived, he was serving dishes in the restaurant. The manager asked him to sign for it, and he was a little confused.

Until the moment he opened the admission letter, his hands trembled. He passed the exam, he finally passed!

The day after receiving the acceptance letter, he received another letter.

There was no information about the sender on the envelope, only his name and the address of the restaurant where he worked part-time.

Mu Bei wanted to open it and read it, but then put it down and stuffed the letter into the employee locker, planning to read it when he got home from get off work.

His house is an old and run-down one, and he lives with his uncle.

When his parents died in a car accident, he was still young and his uncle was still in college. After receiving the news, he immediately rushed back from another place to help deal with his parents' funeral affairs.

Later, his uncle dropped out of college and returned home to take care of him.

My uncle set up a stall selling cold noodles, but the business was not good, so he went to work as an accountant in a factory. Later, the factory went bankrupt, so my uncle went to learn carpentry, and he has been making a living with his skills until now.

His uncle was very good to him and had never married for his sake. Since high school, Mu Bei started working part-time outside in order to reduce the burden on his family.

When his uncle found out, he scolded him severely and told him to focus all his energy and time on studying.

From then on, he no longer worked part-time on weekends and only worked during the winter and summer vacations. He saved all his money and now has saved almost 20,000 yuan.

It’s enough for his tuition and living expenses for one year of college.

When he got home, the lights were on. A middle-aged man was sitting under the lights reading a book. When he saw him, he looked up and said:

"There's porridge in the kitchen. Eat some if you're hungry."

When Mu Bei came home from the night shift, his uncle would always cook him a pot of porridge in the kitchen to warm his stomach.

The thick and sweet rice porridge, served with a small dish of peanuts, braised pork skin, braised bean curd, and cold shredded kelp, warmed his stomach.

Mu Bei washed the dishes, took a shower, and lay on the bed before he remembered the letter. He opened it and saw that it was blank.

Just when he thought it was a prank, a line of small words appeared on the white letter paper.

"Congratulations, you have been chosen by the Abyss. Someone is here to pick you up." Signed: Time and Space Management Gate

As soon as Mu Bei finished reading, the words disappeared. He felt that he must be a fool. What abyss? Someone answered? And the time and space management gate?

Please, reality is not some novel or movie, a brainless and cool story about an ordinary human boy entering a foreign land and starting to fight monsters and upgrade to become a strong man.

He yawned and fell asleep on the bed. He had to work an early shift tomorrow. What he didn't know was that someone came in and took the letter.

The next day, which was Thursday, he was on the early shift. The store manager said someone was looking for him, and when he was not there, the person left something for him.

"Is that person a man or a woman? What does he look like?"

"It was a man, I didn't notice, he left his things here and left."

"Manager, can I see the surveillance?"

The store manager thought about it and nodded, "We have to hurry up."

The store manager turned on the surveillance video and showed it to him, and the more he watched, the stranger it looked.

"Huh? What happened? I remember that when that person came, it was exactly nine o'clock, and the clock in the store just struck the time."

"Why is the person missing? It's really weird!"

Mu Bei was silent. He saw the man in the video, who was wearing all black clothes and a black baseball cap, and his face could not be seen clearly.

The man said something to the store manager, put down his things and left.

"Is the store manager wearing a black hat?"

"How do you know?" the store manager was very surprised.

The man was indeed wearing a black hat, but it was pulled down so low that his face could not be seen clearly.

She was still muttering in her mind at the time, why wear a hat in such a hot day, won’t it be stuffy?

Mu Bei's heart skipped a beat. Was he the only one who could see that person?

He pointed to where the man was standing in the video and asked, "Manager, what is this?"

"Why, why didn't I see it?"

Mu Bei was extremely shocked and confused.

"Manager, can I record this?"

"What's there to record? Nothing at all?"

"Can I?" Mu Bei begged.

"Okay, whatever you want." Mu Bei recorded the surveillance video and showed it to Mu Heng when he got home from get off work.

"Uncle, do you see a man wearing a hat here?"

Mu Heng came over to take a look and said, "No, what's the matter?"

Mu Bei shook his head and buried his head in eating. After eating, he returned to the room and took out the package.

When he opened it, he saw a key inside. It was completely white, as if it was made of white jade. The key was quite valuable. Why did that person give him the key?

Mu Bei thought about it, put the key on the rope and hung it around his neck. After a while, he felt sleepy and simply lay down on the bed to sleep.

Not long after he lay down, he heard the rumble of thunder, followed by white lightning that pierced the darkness and made the window glass creak.

He hurriedly got up and ran to the window. The wind and rain outside blew on his face, wet and cold. He pushed hard to the left.

A stabbing sound——

The sharp sound of the aluminum alloy window rubbing against the windowsill track gave him goose bumps. He quickly took off the crescent lock on the window and locked it.

The room suddenly became quiet. The rain hit the window glass, making a popping sound, and the outside world became blurry.

He turned around and saw the man in the video standing in his room at some point.

The man lowered his head, and his appearance could not be seen clearly. He was tall and thin, dressed in black, and was soaked to the ground. Raindrops dripped down his sleeves and trouser legs onto the ground.

"who are you?"

Mu Bei lowered his voice and walked calmly towards the bedside table where a nunchaku was placed.

The man raised his eyes, just one glance, and Mu Bei was frozen, fuck!

He couldn't help but swear. Was he dazzled, or was there something wrong with this world?

He actually saw a black dragon in the man's eyes. The black dragon coiled up and lay in the man's pupils.

He heard a dragon roar, and the window glass shattered with a bang...

Blue water rushed in, flooding the room in an instant. Mu Bei was swept into the water. He struggled with his limbs desperately, floating up and down in the water. Water from all directions penetrated into his mouth and nose, and he felt like his chest was going to explode!

Help--

As soon as he opened his mouth, more water rushed in, cold, salty, wet, and suffocating. Was he going to die?

He felt his soul being pulled out of his body, and his strength, body temperature, and consciousness were gradually disappearing and dissipating.

A dark shadow approached him, and a strong arm passed through his armpit, dragging him forward, and his lost five senses slowly returned.

He tilted his head back, and the faint air flowed into his lungs. He felt like a seedling that had finally come back to life after a long drought.

The man held him and swam to a boat. Mu Bei was lifted onto the boat by the man. He lay on the boat and vomited all the water in his stomach. He wiped his face and came to his senses, only to find that there was endless sea water all around him.

The man sat silently at the stern, staring into the distance in a daze.

"Brother, what's going on?"

The man ignored him, the boat shook, and then there was a "poof" sound -

Mu Bei watched helplessly as two giant palm-leaf fans grew out on both sides of the bow, one in front and one behind, paddling the water. Mu Bei stood up suddenly and backed away.

"Hey, I haven't seen such a timid newcomer in a long time."

"Who? Who's talking?"

Mu Bei looked around vigilantly, and the man was still standing at the stern without moving.

"it's me!"

The next second, the bow began to rotate, and it turned out to be a huge animal head with sparkling black eyes, looking at Mu Bei and smiling.

It looks like a horse but not a horse, and like a dragon but not a dragon. Mu Bei has never seen such a strange creature.

"and who are you?"

"I am, your door."

After saying that, a stream of water spurted out of its nostrils like a fountain, reaching a height of ten feet and landing on Mu Bei's shoulder. He shivered, it was really cold.

Seeing him like this, it chuckled, turned its head around, and returned to its original shape, turning into the bow of a ship.

The boat suddenly accelerated and sped away for a long distance. Mu Bei lost his balance and almost fell down. The man grabbed him and helped him stabilize himself.

"Thank you."

He struggled uncomfortably against the man's grip.

"do not move."

The man stared straight ahead. The sea that had been boundless just now suddenly became cramped.

There are tall rocks standing on both sides, each stone has a strange shape, some look like people with swords in their hands, some are missing arms and legs, with only half of them standing there, and some look like various strange creatures.

The stones were lined up in two rows, stretching as far as the eye could see. The boat slowed down as it passed through the narrow stones. A thick white mist rose on the water, as thick as milk.

Mu Bei heard the sound of water splashing behind him. He turned around and saw nothing but white. The boat shook and then stopped moving.

The boat stood there for ten minutes. He heard the sound of faint breathing, very rhythmic, rising and falling, falling beside his ears.

Then something slid across his cheek, a sticky and cold touch, as if there was a layer of snot on his face, accompanied by a fishy smell, and he felt like vomiting.

"Ugh~"

He lay on the bed, trying desperately to vomit, but nothing came out. The man looked at him, walked to the bow, and patted twice.

"Don't be afraid, Meng."

The boat trembled slightly, making a humming sound. There was a rustling sound from the bottom of the water, and then a green light flickered faintly in the thick fog, tearing through the fog bit by bit.

The green light became increasingly dense, converging together to form a huge human face.

The low voice exploded in this quiet space like a roaring wave.

"You can't escape this time, old man."

boom--

Countless green dots scattered, like fireflies in the dark night, rushing towards you.

The man waved his hand, and a silver sword appeared in his hand. Mu Bei only saw a flash of silver light, and the sword drew a circle in the air.

Countless silver lights scattered and quickly formed a net in the air. The net grew bigger and bigger, falling from the sky, covering the entire ship and quickly forming an enclosed transparent cover.

The boat sped forward, and the green fluorescence fell on the transparent cover and disappeared. New green fluorescence pounced on it, and they were tireless and kept crashing up one after another.

Mu Bei was dumbfounded. Everything was beyond his understanding.

He heard a bang and a crack appeared on the transparent cover. The green fluorescence became even crazier and desperately hit the crack.

bang——

Another crack appeared.

bang bang—

More and more cracks appeared, like a spider web, and it would break with just one last hit.

The man turned around and yelled at Mu Bei: "Quick, take out the key!"

Mu Bei looked down at the white jade key hanging around his neck, pulled it hard, and held it in his hand. He looked at the man stupidly.

"and then?"

boom--

The silver transparent cover shattered, and countless green lights poured in, surrounding the two of them. A tingling sensation came over their skin, and Mu Bei saw countless moving green bugs drilling into their skin.

what--

He screamed in pain as the bugs grew in number. He could feel them entering his bloodstream, sweeping along his veins, passing through his limbs, and reaching his heart.

His hand trembled and the key fell to the ground with a clang. In a trance, he saw a white door appear above him. He was sucked in by the door and lost consciousness.
