The annual poverty alleviation summary meeting has begun again in the Hongtong County Government.

Under the guidance of the central government's policies and with the joint efforts of governments at all levels, Hongtong County responded to the national call and this year's poverty alleviation work has had a good start.

However, Hongtong County’s poverty alleviation work still faces many problems!

Most of the towns under Hongtong County are located in the Qinling Mountains, and the living conditions of the vast majority of people are on the verge of poverty.

There are few job opportunities in the county, and there are few enterprises, which can provide few jobs at all; land resources suitable for farming are scarce, and most of the land is mountainous, making it difficult for farmers to make money; in order to make a living, most people can only choose to work outside and leave their hometowns all year round.

Therefore, the poverty alleviation work in the entire county is difficult and has many tasks!

Over the past year, led by the leaders of the county party committee and county government, and taking the lead in town governments at all levels, we have gone to the countryside and visited households to conduct on-site inspections and adapted to local conditions. In many towns, we have increased farmers' income through various means, and the results are gratifying!

However, the county government has gained nothing from the three towns located in the deepest part of the Qinling Mountains, and poverty alleviation work is almost impossible to start.

These three extremely impoverished towns are Nanfang Town, Yutou Town, and Dayizi Town.

At the poverty alleviation summary meeting, the party committee secretaries of the three towns were in agony.

To be honest, the three town party secretaries have done a lot of work this year and have been on the front line every day. But many times, poverty alleviation work is useless without completely changing people’s concepts!

For example, in a village in Nanfang Town, there is a disabled poor household who cannot do heavy work and is a registered poor household.

In order to help him get out of poverty, poverty alleviation workers gave him piglets for free, hoping that he would raise the pigs and sell them at the end of the year to increase his income.

As a result, as soon as the poverty alleviation workers left, the villagers ate the piglets and continued to lie at home, not wanting to do any work.

For example, in a village in Dayizi Town, there is a notoriously lazy man in his fifties. He is physically healthy and can do any job, but he just refuses to do it!

He eats, drinks, defecates, and urinates all day without getting out of bed. When the poverty alleviation workers came to his home, they almost stepped on his fresh shit at the foot of the bed...

This kind of person, if you give him a job opportunity, he won't even look at it unless you give him money directly...

Some people are poor because of their own faults. They just want to stay in the mud. Not only can you not pull them out, but sometimes you will get splashed with mud...

When it comes to poverty alleviation work, every poverty alleviation worker has shed tears of bitterness!

At the summary meeting, Deputy County Mayor Wang, who is in charge of poverty alleviation work in the county government, focused on the situations in Nanfang Town, Yutou Town, and Dayizi Town.

"The situations in these three towns are complicated and poverty alleviation work is difficult. The focus of the next poverty alleviation work should be tilted towards these three towns," said Deputy County Mayor Wang.

"Deputy County Magistrate Wang, we have really made a lot of efforts this year, but..." Li Dajiang, secretary of the Yutou Town Committee, said helplessly.

"I understand!" Deputy County Mayor Wang also smiled bitterly.

"The leaders of the county government are not denying your work. We understand the situation, but the work must be done." Deputy County Mayor Wang encouraged.

"Thanks for the affirmation from the county government leaders. But many times we can't find the direction of our work. In the second half of this year, we will try other methods to see if there are other ways that can work!" said Xu Shan, secretary of the Nanfang Town Committee.
