Chapter 937 Don't Let Go of My Hand
Inside the luxurious private room, the atmosphere plummeted to freezing point.
Gin stood there, like a cold sculpture.
He didn't even raise his voice, but every word seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth, carrying a chill that could freeze the air: "What did you just say?"
He leaned forward slightly, casting a shadow over Zola. "What do you mean... you lost your keys?"
Zola felt a chill run down her spine under his gaze, and cold sweat instantly broke out on her scalp.
He opened his mouth, trying to explain how the liquor suddenly appeared and how it was snatched... but under Gin's all-seeing gaze, all his explanations seemed pale and powerless.
Just then, a commotion suddenly broke out in the corridor outside.
The sound of hurried, chaotic footsteps and the panicked whispers of passengers.
"Hurry up! Get moving! Everyone get moving! Don't get stuck in traffic!"
Gin frowned almost imperceptibly, because he knew the voice all too well. He got up and walked towards the source of the sound.
Sure enough, the kava appeared in front of him.
Gin grabbed Kava by the collar and coldly demanded, "What are you doing right now?"
Kava was not afraid of Gin. Instead, he met Gin's bloodthirsty and brutal gaze and retorted firmly, "Didn't you say you weren't here?"
Kava snapped his fingers: "Then you don't need to worry about it."
Then, Kava shouted at the top of his lungs, "Everyone get the hell to the back!"
The stalemate in the driver's cab could not be broken, and staying in the front of the vehicle was tantamount to waiting for death.
Baijiu and Vermouth exchanged a glance and instantly understood each other's intentions—since they couldn't stop this steel behemoth, they might as well abandon it!
Without the slightest hesitation, Baijiu leaned out first, deftly flipping out of the broken driver's side window, grabbing a protrusion on the outside of the vehicle with one hand, while steadily reaching out to Vermouth with the other.
Vermouth tacitly offered him her hand, and with his help, her tall and agile figure also leaned out of the car.
A strong wind immediately enveloped the two of them, but their movements were fluid, as if they had rehearsed it countless times.
With the liquor bottle on top and Vermouth below, the two moved swiftly and laboriously along the outer wall of the speeding carriage towards the connecting point of the rear carriages.
Their teamwork was seamless. Baijiu constantly cleared obstacles for Vermouth and provided her with stable leverage points, while Vermouth followed closely with her excellent flexibility and balance.
We finally arrived at the junction of the two carriages, where the ride was even more bumpy and dangerous, with the huge metal folding windshield constantly extending, retracting, and twisting.
Without pausing, Baijiu was the first to let go, landing precisely on the platform at the connection point. He then turned around and caught Vermouth as she jumped down.
"We must separate them!" Baijiu shouted amidst the howling wind, his eyes fixed on the massive coupling and emergency release device connecting the two carriages.
That usually requires specialized tools and tremendous force to open.
Vermouth immediately understood.
Baijiu squatted down, using all his strength to turn the heavy, rusty locking lever, his arm muscles bulging.
Vermouth, without hesitation, raised her enviable long legs, using her hard heels to firmly press against the point of force, pressing down with her entire weight to provide additional leverage and reaction force for the liquor.
"Ugh—!" Bai Jiu growled, veins bulging on his forehead, as he twisted the seemingly unshakeable device with all his might.
The metal emitted a teeth-grinding "crunch," as if resisting the final separation. Each vibration from the wheels grinding against the rail joints made their efforts doubly difficult and dangerous.
With less than thirty seconds left, the train was getting closer and closer to the bomb-filled bridge.
"Crack—squeak—!"
With a tooth-grinding metallic tearing sound, the massive coupling connecting the two carriages finally groaned under the full force of the baijiu's pull!
A huge, reverse force suddenly came, and the liquor, using this force, flew backward!
The very next second after he detached from the connection point, the second half of the train, now disconnected, slowed down slightly due to inertia, and the distance between it and the locomotive was instantly increased!
A figure flashed out from the side like a nimble cat—it was Vermouth!
She was already waiting at the relatively safe carriage door, and precisely grasped Baijiu's trembling hand, which was weak from exhaustion, and pulled hard!
The liquor slammed into the carriage, while Vermouth quickly used her back to brace against the just-closed inner door.
The immense inertia caused both of them to lose their balance and crash heavily into the door.
But at that moment, no one cared about the impact.
The heavy breathing of survivors echoed in the cramped space.
Bai Jiu slid to the ground, leaning against the cold car door, while Vermouth fell face-to-face into his arms, where he instinctively wrapped his arms around her tightly.
The two embraced tightly in the dim light, huddled behind the slightly trembling car door.
With the rear carriages no longer dragging it down, the locomotive seemed to move faster, and the wind whistled outside the door.
That doomed carriage was being rapidly thrown away.
For a brief few seconds, no words were spoken.
Only their rapid heartbeats and burning body temperature proved that they were still alive and had once again escaped from their desperate situation.
Baijiu's chin rested on the top of Vermouth's golden hair, his eyes closed, his chest heaving violently.
Vermouth buried her face in the crook of his neck, her fingers gripping his clothes so tightly that her knuckles turned white.
However, in that brief moment of respite, before his heartbeat had even calmed down—
Squeak—Boom!
A sharp, almost ear-ripping metallic scraping sound suddenly came from under the car!
The entire carriage seemed to be gripped tightly by an invisible giant hand, and all the wheels locked up instantly, causing a terrible friction with the rails!
Huge sparks, like erupting volcanic lava, spewed wildly from the point where the wheels met the track, leaving countless blinding bright red trails!
What followed was an inertial impact so powerful it was irresistible!
It swept in like a tsunami.
Because of his strong physique and extremely stable lower body, Baijiu's muscles instinctively tensed up the moment the brakes came, as if he were rooted to the ground. Although he was also shaken and lost his balance, he managed to maintain his posture.
But Belmod was different! She was already relatively light, and in that moment of relaxation, this sudden burst of violent power left her completely defenseless! Her scream was choked in her throat; it was as if she had been struck by an invisible giant hand, instantly ripped from Baijiu's arms, and violently thrown forward! Heading straight for the track below!
"Vermouth!"
Baijiu's pupils suddenly contracted to the size of a pinhead!
The brain doesn't even have time to think; all actions stem from instincts that transcend reason!
In the split second before Vermouth was lifted off the ground, he practically tore his own muscle fibers apart as he lunged forward with all his might, his arm shooting out like lightning!
Snapped!
His five fingers, like iron clamps, gripped Vermouth's slender wrist tightly at the critical moment!
The immense forward momentum subjected Baijiu's arm to terrifying pulling force, causing his joints to creak and groan, but he gritted his teeth and remained motionless!
Vermouth's body was abruptly pulled to a stop in mid-air by this force!
Her long golden hair flew forward due to inertia, and the back of her head was less than a few centimeters away from the cold, hard metal car wall!
Those few centimeters are the insurmountable chasm between life and death.
If the reaction of the liquor were even a fraction of a second slower, or if the force were slightly lessened, Vermouth's head would have struck that fatal protrusion without any cushioning, with unimaginable consequences.
Time seemed to stand still. Bai Jiu gripped her wrist tightly, breathing heavily from the force, veins bulging on his forehead.
Vermouth stared back at him, still shaken, her chest heaving, her face drained of color, her beautiful eyes reflecting Baijiu's unusually sharp features.
The ear-piercing noise of wheels rubbing against the tracks continued, and sparks occasionally illuminated the two of them.
