Pig Killer

Chapter 15

No matter how the world changes, this is how children begin learning.

Even though she is a genetically modified human, she was not born with knowledge. She had to learn everything from scratch.

It’s just that androids learn quickly, remember things well, and have strong learning abilities!

She didn't miss the days when she was an artificial human, working day and night like a robot.

She missed her body that was immune to cold and heat and her super high fighting power, and she didn't know if she could train it back.

It was a really cold day, so we had a fire burning in the house. We didn’t have to worry about charcoal poisoning because the house was well ventilated!

"Mother, mother." The cat slave called out to his mother who looked dazed.

"What if we count the feet too?" Shen Hui'e came back to her senses and said to them with a smile on her face.

"Uh..." The brother and sister were dumbfounded, scratching their heads and looking at their mother.

Shen Hui'e looked at them with a smile on her face and shook her head slightly. She stood up and went to the earthenware jar where grain was stored and grabbed two handfuls of soybeans.

"Come on, use them to count." Shen Hui'e placed the soybeans on the wooden table.

This is much easier. I learned how to count in one afternoon.

Before dark, I added fish balls to the fish head soup and had a delicious meal. After cleaning up, I kept the fire burning and went to sleep.

&*&

Early the next morning, Shen Hui'e simply washed her face and braided her hair into a low pigtail. Her hair was too long, so she folded it and tied it in the middle with a cloth strip.

Take the sack, hemp rope, and backpack and set off.

Shen Hui'e looked at the Huang family members waiting at the city gate from afar. Huh... more than ten people, big and small, so many people.

"Second Aunt." The boys and girls of the Huang family saluted.

"Be good!" Shen Hui'e looked at them tenderly with her eyes as gentle as jade.

This time I have recognized everyone, and the children’s names are all mean names.

All right! A cheap name is easy to maintain.

A group of people were walking towards the edge of the woods, chatting and laughing.

The outskirts of the county town are all farmland, and because it is located in a plain, the ridges of the fields are square.

There are few people and a lot of land, and there are forests in the distance.

Shen Hui'e walked on the ridge of the field and looked at the wilting wheat seedlings in the field. "How do I water the wheat?"

"Most of them carry water for irrigation." Huang Bochang turned around and looked at her and said.

"Can't this field be closer to the river?" Shen Hui'e asked in the darkness as she looked at the white ice surface in the distance under the sunlight.

My sister-in-law is really a delicate lady. Huang Shuchang smiled and said, "This field can't be too close to the river. The river water will rise sharply in the summer and flood the fields. This season's food will be gone."

"It must be so hard to carry water to irrigate the fields!" Shen Hui'e said as she looked at them with her crystal clear eyes in the sunlight.

"We all rely on the weather for our livelihood. Unless it's too dry, we usually wait for rain." Huang Jichang said with a smile, clasping his hands together, "We pray for good weather and good harvests every year."

Shen Hui'e held up the backpack on her back and said as she walked, "If it's really dry, it won't be possible to carry water to irrigate the fields!"

"So it all depends on God." Huang Jichang said, looking up at the blue sky.

"Isn't there any other way?" Shen Hui'e said, looking at them with bright eyes.

"Our ancestors have been farming like this for generations. What else can we do?" Huang Bochang blinked and looked at her in confusion. "This is how we live by relying on the weather."

"Fortunately, the weather has been good in the past two years, and both are years of bumper harvests." Huang Jichang said happily and contentedly.

After searching the natives’ memories in vain, Shen Hui’e asked, “Is there no waterwheel?”

"What is a waterwheel?" Huang Bochang looked back at her with his dark eyes and asked curiously.

"Just like a horse-drawn carriage transports people, if we improve the carriage, can we use it to transport water?" Shen Hui'e said as she looked at them with her dazzling black eyes.

"Carrying water with a horse carriage?" Huang Shuchang blinked and asked in confusion, "How can it be transported?" Then he added, "This horse carriage is not something that everyone can afford."

"Carrying water with a horse-drawn carriage? We can't afford that." Huang Jichang shook his head slightly and said, "We only have one wheelbarrow at home."

"We can't afford horses for this carriage to carry water." Huang Bochang echoed, "We don't even have a horse in our county."

Shen Hui'e stroked her forehead when she heard this. They were talking at cross purposes and couldn't agree on anything.

"What's wrong with you, mother?" Li Nu said to his mother worriedly.

"It's okay, it's okay." Shen Hui'e put down her hands and gently pulled the corners of her lips to give her a reassuring smile.

"Your sister-in-law is from a wealthy family, but they don't have a carriage. They always take an oxcart when they go on long trips." Huang Bochang looked at her gently and said, "We can't afford a carriage."

"Why are the crops in this field so sparse?" Shen Hui'e changed the subject directly. It was impossible to argue with them about the water wheel, so she could only find a chance to make it.

"Rare?" Huang Shuchang blinked his clear eyes and said with a smile, "In the spring, other crops are planted in the wheat fields, such as corn, soybeans... and other grains." He glanced at his second sister-in-law's cheeks. They were really white, not like their rough skin at all.

She is a real young lady and doesn't need to work in the fields.

"Intercropping?" Shen Hui'e raised her eyebrows and looked at them.

"That's how we grow them," Huang Jichang said with a smile. "If one crop gets infested with insects, the other crops won't be in serious trouble."

"Oh!" Shen Hui'e nodded in response, and then curiously asked, "What if there is an insect infestation?"

"What else can we do? Just wait until the bugs are gone." Huang Shuchang said simply and easily.

"Don't you want to catch insects?" Shen Hui'e's mouth twitched when she heard that. She looked at them with clear eyes and said, "Kill them like flies and mosquitoes."

"Catch bugs?" Huang Bochang scratched his head and said, "Catch them! But there are too many, and I can't catch them all. In the end, I can only let him go."

"Just don't affect other grains." Huang Jichang said with peace of mind.

"It's impossible that this won't affect other crops!" Shen Hui'e felt that they were taking it for granted.

"There will definitely be an impact. Production will be reduced but there will not be a total loss." Huang Bochang said as he walked.

"Weeding?" Shen Hui'e said as she stepped on the frozen field ridge.

"This grass is really annoying. It always grows better than the seedlings at any time." Huang Jichang said angrily, "It's the most annoying to pull weeds under the scorching sun. It can get you burned off."

"Weeds are really annoying." Shen Hui'e nodded in agreement and then asked, "What about fertilization?"

"Fertilize!" Huang Bochang said distressedly, "There is too little manure to cover all the land."

"Raise more chickens and pigs, and there will be more manure." Shen Hui'e said simply and easily.

"Second sister-in-law, people can't even have enough to eat, how can we raise chickens and pigs?" Huang Shuchang looked at her with amusement and said.

Shen Hui'e pursed her lips and said to them, "Raise rabbits. Rabbits reproduce..." She suddenly stopped and changed her words, "Rabbits have a very strong ability to give birth to offspring. Three or five rabbits can give you hundreds of rabbits next year."
