Pig Killer

Chapter 12

"It's cooked. I feel it's cooked." Da Chong swallowed the fish ball and said, "It smells really good and tastes really good."

"Then you scoop out the fish balls and I'll continue." Shen Hui'e said to the big tiger with eyes like glass beads.

"Hey!" The big insect took a wooden spoon, scooped out the fish balls and put them in a coarse earthenware bowl.

"You guys eat first, I've made these fish balls." Shen Hui'e started squeezing the balls again, looking up at the brother and sister who were sitting obediently at the wooden table without moving their chopsticks, and said, "Why don't you eat!"

"Mother hasn't eaten yet!" said the raccoon slave, looking at her with his watery eyes.

"You guys eat first, or they'll get cold. I've made these fish balls." Shen Hui'e pointed to the clay pot where more than half of the meat paste was left, and said, "I don't know if it's enough!" She coaxed them, "Be good, eat quickly."

"Well then!" The big tiger picked up the chopsticks and looked at the raccoon slave and said, "Let's eat first."

The brother and sister finished eating, but Shen Hui'e hadn't finished making the fish balls yet!

The crock pot is too small to make only a few at a time.

"Are you full? If not, come and get some." Shen Hui'e pointed at the fish balls floating in the earthenware jar.

Da Chong took a wooden spoon and scooped the fish balls out of the clay pot.

Shen Hui'e squeezed the fish balls twice before all the chopped fish meat was made into balls.

"Are you full?" Shen Hui'e looked at them tenderly and said.

"We're full. We're full." The brother and sister said in unison.

Shen Hui'e served them some fish soup, "It's the original soup, it would be nice if there were some vegetables."

"It's a famine and not even wild vegetables have sprouted!" said the cat slave, looking outside eagerly.

"I just said that. When the wild vegetables emerge, we will dig them up and eat them." Shen Hui'e picked up the fish ball with chopsticks and put it into her mouth.

I've tried it just now, it has a hint of salt, not too salty or too bland, just right.

The fish balls were delicious, but had some minor flaws. The impurities of coarse salt and pepper powder made them not as tender and smooth as if you were eating sand.

"Is it delicious?" Shen Hui'e asked them gently.

"It's delicious, delicious, better than stewed or steamed ones." The raccoon said happily, "Don't worry about the fish bones, you can eat it without worry."

"Yeah!" The big bug nodded in agreement, "Mother, can we eat it often?"

"Of course." Shen Hui'e responded readily. When she had almost finished eating, she added some water to the clay pot, then put the fish head in, added a little salt, ginger slices, and peppercorns, and stewed it!

"Woof woof..." Huang Er barked at them.

"Oh, I forgot about you." The tiger jumped down from the couch. "Wait a minute, I'll get your food bowl."

When the big tiger came back, he had a wooden basin in his hand. He looked at his mother pleadingly and said, "Mother, hehe...hehe..."

"What's that strange noise?" Shen Hui'e looked at him with her bright dark eyes and asked knowingly.

"The fish head is not cooked yet, can you give Huang Er some fish balls first?" The big insect prayed in a low voice after hearing this.

"How much?" Shen Hui'e asked with a smile.

"What?" Da Chong looked at her, not quite understanding.

"Give Huang Er some fish balls!" Shen Hui'e asked him with her jade-like eyes.

"Ten?" The big tiger counted on his fingers.

Shen Hui'e frowned slightly when she saw this. This kid has to count with his fingers?

Seeing his mother's face darken, Da Chong quickly said, "Eight, or six."

"Six, please! We'll eat the fish head later!" Shen Hui'e smiled and said to him with the corners of her lips raised.

"Okay!" The big tiger looked at the raccoon slave and said, "Quick, six fish balls."

Li Nu picked up six fish balls and placed them in a stoneware bowl, then poured them into Huang Er's rice bowl, "Eat!"

In the blink of an eye, Huang Er finished eating all six fish balls, licked his tongue, and looked at them eagerly.

"I'll give it to you after the fish head is stewed." The big insect patted its furry head and said.

Upon hearing this, Huang Er lay obediently on the ground, looking at the earthen jar in front of him.

After Shen Hui'e had eaten and drunk her fill, she looked at them and asked, "Are you sleepy?"

"Not sleepy." The brother and sister shook their heads.

After searching through the memories of the indigenous people, Shen Hui'e discovered that both children had not received enlightenment.

The natives can read and write, but their literacy is not very advanced, but it is enough for the enlightenment of children.

Shen Hui'e looked at the brother and sister with eyes as gentle as jade and said softly, "Since you are not sleepy, you should follow me to read and learn words, and learn math in the future." You can't keep counting on your fingers!

"Ah!" The brother and sister looked at their mother in a daze.

"What's with that expression on your face? Don't you like it?" Shen Hui'e blinked her clear eyes and looked at them.

"I like it, I like it, but mother, do you know how to read?" Da Chong said as he looked at her with his round black eyes.

"Didn't I say that?" Shen Hui'e said as she looked at them with raised eyebrows.

"No!" The brother and sister shook their heads in unison.

"That's because you're too young. I told you to have fun for a few years." Shen Hui'e looked at them gently and said, "You're just the right age now."

"It's okay if you don't learn to read and write!" Da Chong said to her with his innocent eyes.

Hearing this, Shen Hui'e stroked her brow with her index finger and looked at him and said, "Why do you say that?"

"Everyone can't read, but they can still live well. My father can't read either." Da Chong said to her with his childish face.

Without a learning atmosphere, it really doesn’t matter whether you can read or not.

Anyway, this is how our ancestors have lived, either working in the fields, or learning a skill to make a living, or following in their father's footsteps.

Without any higher pursuits, we continue to live along the life trajectory of our ancestors.

Shen Hui'e ran her index finger across her chin as she looked at them and said, "Let me put it this way! Do you want to be like the county magistrate, or do you want to farm?"

"Of course I want to be like the county magistrate." Da Chong looked at her with green eyes.

"Then you must study, otherwise you won't be able to understand the official documents." Shen Hui'e looked at him with her deep and penetrating eyes.

"But not everyone can be a county magistrate. They are recommended by the lower classes and sent by the higher classes. Only nobles can be county magistrates." Da Chong looked at her with his innocent eyes and said, "We have no chance."

"No matter what you want to do in the future, you must learn to read and write." Shen Hui'e looked at him with her clear and bright eyes.

"Is it necessary to learn it?" Da Chong looked at his mother in confusion and said.

"Don't you want to learn?" Shen Hui'e looked at him gently without getting angry or annoyed.

Without an environment, no one will read or write, and no one will think there is any use in learning. This is no longer a problem for the children.

"That's not the case. I want to learn." The big tiger said seriously with his black eyes, "but what good is there in learning to read and write?"
