Traveling through the Tang Dynasty: The Concubine Goes to War

Chapter 17: Yunxi's Mission to the Enemy Camp Experiences 9 Deaths and 1 Survival

Last time we talked about Yunxi being escorted by Shangguan Yu and other envoys on a diplomatic mission to the Turks.

After Yunxi and his group arrived in Turkic, they were warmly received by the Turkic king.

On the vast grassland, the Turkic king led his elite cavalry, standing proudly in the wind. His eyes were as sharp as an eagle, revealing majesty and power. However, when he faced Yunxi and the others, his eyes gradually changed.

Yunxi, wearing light armor and a bow and arrow, stood in front of the Turkic king with a heroic look. Her eyes were firm and brave, without any fear. She came from different backgrounds, but they had a common belief - for peace and justice.

The Turkic king gazed at Yunxi and his men and felt their inner strength. He saw their determination, bravery and dedication, and these qualities made him admire them.

Yunxi stepped forward, her voice clear and firm: "King of Turks, we are not here to provoke you, but to seek peace. We are willing to talk with you and work together to find a solution to the problem."

The Turkic king was silent for a moment, then nodded slowly. He was conquered by Yunxi and the others' courage and wisdom, and realized that they were no ordinary opponents. He decided to sit down with them and listen to their opinions.

In the following time, the two sides had an in-depth exchange. Yunxi and others explained their respective positions and wishes, and the Turkic king also shared his views and considerations. Through frank dialogue, they gradually found some common interests and solutions.

Finally, the Turkic king was moved by Yunxi and his friends' sincerity and wisdom. He sighed: "I admire your courage, and I am willing to work with you to achieve peaceful coexistence."

Yunxi and the others smiled with relief. This meeting became the starting point for the two sides to build mutual trust. Their courage and determination laid a solid foundation for future peace. At the welcome banquet, Yunxi showed her talent and charm, winning everyone's praise.

However, Shangguan Yu discovered that there was an unusual light in the eyes of the Turkic king. He secretly reminded Yunxi to be careful, because this mission might not be as simple as it seemed.

After three rounds of drinking, the Turkic king walked towards Yunxi and expressed his love for her directly: "Envoy Yang is very courageous and wise. She is truly a heroine. I admire her very much. I hope you can stay in Turkic and be my queen."

Yunxi was shocked and quickly refused. Yunxi calmly said: "I appreciate the Turkic king's kindness, but as a special envoy of the Tang Dynasty, I have a great responsibility for the country and cannot stay." The Turkic king's face suddenly became gloomy. He did not expect Yunxi to reject him so decisively. The scene became extremely awkward for a while.

The scene was tense for a while. At this time, Shangguan Yu stood up and said righteously: "Your Majesty, Yunxi is an envoy of our dynasty and represents the face of our dynasty. I hope Your Majesty will not force him to do anything."

The Turkic king looked at Shangguan Yu angrily, but because of the face of the ministers, he had to give up temporarily. However, he said that the matter would not end there.

The Turkic king flicked his sleeves and turned away. Yunxi sighed inwardly, thinking that this mission might be full of difficulties.

Shangguan Yu walked to Yunxi and comforted her softly, "Special Envoy, don't worry, I will protect your safety." Yunxi nodded gratefully.

At this moment, a waiter came over with a wine glass and said to Yunxi with a smile: "This is the best wine of our Turkic people. The special envoy must taste it."

Yunxi took the wine glass and took a sip, but suddenly felt dizzy... Yunxi was startled and immediately realized that there was something wrong with the wine. She resisted the dizziness and knocked the wine glass to the ground.

"This wine..." Yunxi pointed at the wine glass on the ground and glared at the waiter.

The waiter's smile disappeared, and he quickly pulled out a dagger and stabbed Yunxi.

Upon seeing this, Shangguan Yu flashed and stood in front of Yunxi, starting a fierce fight with the waiter.

After a few moves, Shangguan Yu subdued the waiter. He forced the waiter to tell him who was behind the incident, but the waiter bit his tongue and committed suicide.

Yunxi understood that their situation was becoming increasingly dangerous. They had to find a way to leave the Turks as soon as possible and report the situation here to the emperor.

Shangguan Yu looked around vigilantly and sensed a potential threat. He decided to take Yunxi and other envoys to escape from the Turkic camp at night.

It was a dark and windy night, and several people quietly passed through the tents. Suddenly, a group of dark shadows emerged from all directions and blocked their way.

"It seems you can't escape!" came the voice of the Turkic king.

Yunxi and Shangguanyu worked closely together to fight a fierce battle with the enemy, but the enemy had a large number of people and gradually gained the upper hand.

Yunxi and Shangguan Yu were in trouble. Although they fought bravely, the enemy's attacks became more and more fierce. At the critical moment, Yunxi used her unique skills and shot several arrows at once, and the enemies fell to the ground one after another. But she also consumed too much energy and her body trembled slightly.

Shangguan Yu quickly carried Yunxi on his back and rushed forward. They finally broke through the encirclement and came to the horses. Shangguan Yu helped Yunxi onto the horse, and the two of them galloped away. Behind them, the Turkic pursuers were chasing closely.

In the dark night, they lost their way. Yunxi guided them forward with his keen intuition.

Finally, they found a hidden valley and decided to take a break there. Yunxi, Shangguan Yu and several envoys hid in the depths of the valley to avoid the limelight. Yunxi was worried that the pursuers would find them soon, so she decided to split up with Shangguan Yu, with Shangguan Yu leading the others to rush back to the Tang camp to deliver the letter, while she stayed behind to divert the Turkic pursuers.

Shangguan Yu initially disagreed with the plan, but Yunxi insisted on considering the overall situation. He knew that time was running out, so he could only watch Yunxi leave silently.

Yunxi set out alone to lure the enemy. She cleverly used the terrain and her own skills to constantly create interference, causing the Turkic pursuers to gradually deviate from their original direction.

Shangguan Yu and his men successfully returned to the Tang camp and reported the Turkic movement to the emperor. The emperor was furious and immediately mobilized the army to prepare for the Turkic invasion.

On the other side, Yunxi successfully escaped the Turkic pursuers, but she herself was seriously injured. In the deserted place, she moved forward with difficulty, with only one belief in her heart: she must return to the capital alive and tell everyone the truth...

Yunxi staggered and finally arrived at a nomadic tribe. She collapsed exhausted on the vast grassland. An old Turkic nomadic woman was passing by with her sheep. She was wearing traditional Turkic clothes and had a kind and resolute face. When she found Yunxi who was injured and fainted, she carried her back to the tent without any hesitation.

The old lady covered Yunxi with a warm blanket and then carefully tended to her wound. She took out her treasured herbs, gently applied them to the wound, and bandaged it with her gentle hands.

Under the careful care of the old lady, Yunxi's condition gradually improved. She woke up and looked at the old lady with gratitude and respect in her eyes. The old lady smiled and said in not very fluent Chinese: "Don't thank me, this is what everyone with a conscience would do." Yunxi was moved by the old lady's simplicity and enthusiasm. Yunxi secretly made up her mind to make the Tang Dynasty and the Turkic countries friendly, for the sake of the simple grassland people and for the peace and prosperity of the Tang Dynasty.

A few days later, Yunxi's injuries had basically healed. She said goodbye to the kind old lady with gratitude and set out on the road back to the Tang Dynasty camp. Along the way, she thought about how to deal with the current situation.

Yunxi walked cautiously on the vast grassland, but was suddenly discovered by a group of Turkic soldiers. She was nervous and tried to escape, but the enemy was outnumbered and she was eventually caught and taken back to the palace.

The palace was magnificent and the architecture was majestic. Yunxi was taken into a spacious hall filled with a strong exotic aroma. The Turkic king sat on a high seat with a stern look in his eyes. He looked at Yunxi with a hint of surprise in his eyes.

Yunxi stood up straight and looked at the Turkic king fearlessly. She was dressed in plain clothes, but her beauty could not be concealed. Her long hair fell on her shoulders like a waterfall. Her eyes were firm and clear, revealing her unyielding will.

The Turkic king stared at her, and a smile gradually appeared on his lips. He thought, this woman is so brave, maybe she will become a useful chess piece for him. So, he decided to keep Yunxi by his side to see what kind of surprises she can bring.

Yunxi was quick-witted and realized that the Turkic king might have other intentions. But she decided to play along and stay in the palace to find an opportunity to pass on the message to the Tang Dynasty.

During her stay in the palace, Yunxi tried her best to be obedient and secretly observed the actions of the Turkic king. She found that the Turkic king often discussed with a group of mysterious people and seemed to be planning some major conspiracy.

One day, Yunxi sneaked into the Turkic king's study while the guards were not paying attention. She found a confidential document on the bookshelf, which recorded the deployment and attack plan of the Turkic army. Yunxi was shocked and she had to send this information out as soon as possible.

Just as Yunxi was about to leave, she heard footsteps approaching. She nervously hid behind the curtains, her heart beating faster. The door opened and the Turkic king walked in. Yunxi held her breath, fearing that she would be discovered.

The Turkic king seemed to have noticed something. He stopped and scanned the room with his sharp eyes. Yunxi's heartbeat almost stopped. She tightly grasped the documents in her hand, ready to rush out immediately if she was discovered.

However, the Turkic king just walked to the desk and picked up a book to read. Yunxi breathed a sigh of relief, and took advantage of the opportunity when the Turkic king was concentrating on reading, and quietly slipped out of the window. She successfully hid the information on her body, and then pretended to be calm and returned to her residence.

Next, Yunxi planned to find a suitable time to send the information out of the palace.

Yunxi knew that time was running out and she had to hand over the intelligence to Datang as soon as possible. So she began to closely observe the guard shift changes in the palace and look for the best time to leave the palace.

Finally, one night, Yunxi got her chance. She disguised herself as a palace maid and mixed into the team transporting supplies. With the cover of night, she successfully walked out of the palace.

However, the world outside the palace was not peaceful. The Turkic king had already ordered the strengthening of the guard, and all the checkpoints were heavily guarded. Yunxi carefully avoided the patrolling soldiers and headed towards the direction of the Tang camp.

On the way, she met a kind herdsman whose father had been saved by a warrior of the Tang Dynasty. Yunxi pretended that the Turkic king forced her to stay in the palace as a concubine, and she missed her hometown so much that she ran away. The herdsman expressed his willingness to help her. He led her around many dangers and gave her a fast horse so that she could speed up.

After a difficult journey, Yunxi finally arrived at the Tang camp and handed the information to the emperor.

Yunxi's return was like a spring breeze, warming everyone's heart. People's eyes sparkled with joy, especially Han Xuan and the emperor, whose joy was beyond words.

Han Xuan's face bloomed with a relieved smile, and his eyes were full of deep affection for Yunxi. Han Xuan, who had recovered from his injuries, walked quickly towards Yunxi and hugged her tightly, as if he was afraid that she would leave again. Yunxi felt Han Xuan's hug, and tears of emotion welled up in her eyes. She knew that this hug represented endless longing and concern.

The emperor could not hide his excitement. He looked at Yunxi with his eyes full of relief and joy. He walked forward, patted Yunxi's shoulder gently, and said with emotion: "Your return makes me feel extremely happy." Yunxi saluted the emperor, his eyes full of respect and gratitude for the emperor.

The whole scene was filled with joy and warmth, and people gathered around to express their congratulations and welcome to Yunxi. The laughter and blessings intertwined together, like a beautiful movement, playing the joy of reunion.

Yunxi reported to the emperor in detail what she had seen and heard in the Turkic palace, including the Turkic military plan and possible actions. The emperor frowned after hearing this, knowing that the situation was serious and that he had to make a response as soon as possible.

The emperor convened an emergency meeting of the generals to discuss defense strategies. Yunxi also actively participated in the meeting. With her understanding of the Turks, she put forward some unique insights.

During the intense preparations for war, the shadow of war loomed over the earth.

Soon after, the Tang court made corresponding strategic adjustments, strengthened border fortifications, and prepared to send envoys to negotiate with the Turks again to resolve the dispute in a peaceful manner.

Yunxi's brave act bought precious time for the Tang Dynasty. Her name became famous in the Tang Dynasty and she became a heroine in people's minds.

Yunxi walked into the military camp and felt a strange feeling. She noticed that Zhaxi's behavior was a little strange recently, and she couldn't help but feel suspicious.

Zhaxi used to be a very energetic person, but now she often looks exhausted and her mental state is obviously not as good as before. Yunxi asked her with concern if she was feeling unwell, but Zhaxi hesitated and avoided the question.

Yunxi began to pay attention to Tashi's daily life and found that she suddenly became very picky about food and often had symptoms of nausea and vomiting. Combined with previous observations, Yunxi gradually had an answer in her mind.

One day, Yunxi found an opportunity to talk to Tashi alone. She tactfully asked Tashi if he was hiding something from everyone. Tashi lowered his head and said nothing. After a while, he finally admitted the fact that he was pregnant with a blushing face.

Yunxi's eyes widened, her face full of shock, her mouth slightly open, as if she wanted to say something but couldn't make a sound. She looked at Zhaxi, her eyes full of confusion and worry.

Zhaxi lowered her head and unconsciously stroked her belly with her hands. Her expression was a little complicated, and she seemed to be hesitating whether to reveal who the father of the child was.

Yunxi took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down. She asked softly, "Zhaxi, who is the father of the child?" There was a hint of concern in her voice.

Zhaxi's eyes flickered, she bit her lip, but still didn't answer. Yunxi frowned, and she asked again: "Zhaxi, don't worry, I won't blame you, but I need to know the truth so that we can face it together."

Zhaxi raised her head and looked at Yunxi, tears flashing in her eyes. She finally mustered up the courage to say, "Just that time with Han Xuan..."

Yunxi was filled with disappointment and sadness. She had originally been expecting and hoping, but she found that the facts were consistent with her guess, which made her feel heavy and lost.

There was a trace of sadness in her eyes, and the corners of her mouth drooped slightly, as if she had lost the strength to smile. Her brows were slightly furrowed, as if she was trying to suppress the pain in her heart.

Yunxi stood there silently, the world around her seemed to become blurry. Her thoughts were in a mess, recalling her past efforts and contributions, but in return she got such a result, her heart was filled with helplessness and confusion.

Perhaps because she was too disappointed, Yunxi's body trembled slightly, like a leaf in the wind, without a root. Her steps also became heavy, and every step seemed to be carrying a heavy burden.

However, while feeling sad, Yunxi also realized that the result of the guess was just the beginning and she couldn't stop here. She took a deep breath, straightened her chest, and tried to regain her inner strength and courage. Although tears welled up in her eyes, she was determined not to let the sadness knock her down, but to learn lessons from it and move on. But she still held Zhaxi's hand and comforted him: "It doesn't matter, we will face it together. No matter what, the child is innocent and we will take care of him together."

Zhaxi looked at Yunxi gratefully and nodded, tears rolling down her cheeks. Yunxi held back the great grief in her heart and expressed her heartfelt blessings to Zhaxi, and told her not to worry, the brothers in the barracks would support him. Zhaxi heard this, tears of emotion flashed in his eyes.

Their conversation happened to be heard by Han Xuan who came in. His hands trembled unconsciously, and his heart was filled with shock and disbelief. "This... This is impossible, Zhaxi, the child cannot stay. The person I love is Yunxi."

Zhaxi looked at Han Xuan firmly, tears welling up in her eyes, and she told Han Xuan that she wanted to keep the child. However, Han Xuan cruelly asked her to abort the child because he only had Yunxi in his heart and his feelings for Zhaxi were just a momentary impulse.

Han Xuan's eyes wandered, he dared not look Zhaxi in the eye, his voice was full of helplessness and determination. Zhaxi's heart was like a knife, she could not accept this cruel reality, she loved Han Xuan, and also loved the child in her belly.

Han Xuan looked at Yunxi beside him, grabbing his hair in pain, not knowing how to face all this. And Zhaxi cried silently, her world seemed to be collapsing...
