Time Travel: I am a Warlord in Doomsday America
Chapter 89 Before Winter (12)
Daryl didn't care much about the stranger's situation. He gave a wink, and the soldier next to him stepped forward, grabbed Kelly, and tied her hands and feet with plastic straps.
"What are you going to do!!"
Kelly asked with a horrified expression.
She didn't dare to struggle. The ten people in front of her were all carrying guns and weapons, so she didn't dare to greet them verbally.
"We don't have time to solve your problem now. Just be good and be safe with us."
Daryl said calmly.
"Then you don't have to tie me up!"
Kelly frowned and shouted while sitting on the ground.
Daryl narrowed his eyes and said:
"Is this a necessary measure to prevent you from getting in the way, or do you want to be guarded by someone with a gun and shot if they think you're a danger?"
Seeing Daryl's dangerous eyes, Kelly shuddered, lowered her head honestly, and stammered: "Then...you must ensure my safety..."
“There’s no guarantee.”
Daryl said coldly.
With a wave of his hand, Daryl asked the soldiers to throw Kelly into the car. He would use the walkie-talkie to inform Lee and Carol about Clementine.
Inside the Hilton Hotel, Rick walked through the rooms, calling out Clementine's name.
The hotel rooms are generally around 30 square meters, with a simple interior layout and few blind spots.
Rick paced in room 302, observing the traces in the room.
Thanks to the simple structure of the room, Rick easily explored multiple rooms along the way, but gained nothing.
On a table in Room 302, a pink plastic-covered diary lay quietly.
There were no other books on the table. Rick curiously went over to pick up the diary and flipped through it. Soon he found something interesting on the last page with words:
March 11 Thursday Sunny
I, the great Officer Carl, and my dear Kelly will continue to Savannah, and the Hilton Hotel is just our temporary stop.
Kelly wanted to stay at the Hilton Hotel for a few more days. There is a swimming pool and a solar water heater here. The hotel's backup water supply system means we don't have to worry about any life problems.
There were a lot of zombie strippers and drugs in the presidential suite. It was obviously a den of social scum. I shot them all and threw them downstairs of the hotel.
Uncle Carl is continuing to achieve great things, and the glory of the Gallagher family will continue to be passed on by me. I think when Kelly and I are completely settled, we will have a child...
The owner of the diary was named Carl, who happened to have the same name as Rick's son, and he was also a police officer. Rick twitched his eyebrows, feeling that it was a bit of a coincidence.
“Zizizi… This is Daryl, please reply if you get the answer.
I have a clue. Someone took Clementine to the airport. Now everyone should leave the hotel immediately and head to the city."
Daryl's voice came from the intercom at Rick's waist, and Lee and Carol, who were also in the hotel, received the channel audio.
Rick took the diary from the table and decided to get to know this congenial stranger, Officer Carl, when he had time.
Everyone quickly evacuated the hotel, and Rick and his team started the pickup truck in front of the hotel and drove towards the road where Daryl's team was.
Seeing Rick driving over, Daryl nodded, then asked the soldiers to grab Kelly, whose hands and feet were tied, and throw her into the trunk after the car stopped.
Rick stuck his head out of the driver's window and asked Daryl in confusion:
"Who is this woman?"
"Her boyfriend took Clementine away, so she's useful."
Daryl answered Rick simply.
Rick looked back at Kelly and Strange in the back car. These two were outsiders, so it was reasonable for them to have their hands and feet tied. Who knew what they were thinking of doing.
The convoy avoided the bodies on the road. Daryl sat in the passenger seat, lit a cigarette, and started puffing.
He had done the task of cleaning up zombies many times, but now he felt uncomfortable all over and his body felt stiff.
This is the physiological reaction people have when facing danger. Daryl thought he had overcome this instinct long ago, but now he is still in this state.
The zombie swarm has been wiped out and the danger has been lifted. Even if I'm not in good shape today, the feeling of body stiffness shouldn't last so long.
Daryl looked out the car window and saw a dark shadow in the distance on the barren land outside the interstate highway. It seemed to be some kind of signpost or sign.
The speed of the pickup truck had reached 100 miles per hour, but the black shadow never left Daryl's sight, as if it was moving at high speed in sync with the pickup truck.
Daryl narrowed his eyes and picked up the telescope under the car door, trying to observe the strangeness in the distance, but the black shadow disappeared behind a mound of earth.
The pickup truck was still moving, and this time Daryl didn't notice anything unusual in the distance.
Perhaps he had seen it wrong, or perhaps it was some animal that was hunting and he had just spotted it.
Daryl put down the telescope, the cigarette in his right hand still burning. He took a deep puff and continued to focus on the search for Clementine.
After calming himself, Daryl felt the stiffness in his body disappear.
The convoy was traveling on a deserted interstate highway that went all the way to the city center, and would eventually reach Macon's central airport.
An hour later, the high-speed convoy entered the densely built-up area of Macon. Daryl was originally worried that the roads here would be occupied by zombies, but when he looked around, he could not see even a single wandering zombie on the road.
The city center is dominated by scattered garbage and dusty vehicles.
Li was communicating with the convoy's navigator on a walkie-talkie. He was a native of Macon and was most familiar with the nearby roads.
After learning that Clementine was taken to the central airport, Li had a rough idea in his mind. They needed to go to the small road of the airport's civilian hangar. It was impossible for an ordinary person to drive a passenger plane at the airport, right?
Lee expressed his idea on the intercom, and Daryl nodded to the driver beside him, signaling him to follow the route Lee mentioned.
The convoy cannot drive as wildly on the city roads as it does on the interstate highways. They need to avoid traffic accidents and deal with bends and corners, so the team has to slow down.
Just as the convoy was getting closer to the central airport, a bus appeared parked in the middle of the road, surrounded by burnt car shells and charred corpses.
"WTF..."
Daryl frowned. This looked like a traffic accident site, but the bus was parked at a very straight angle, completely blocking the main part of the road. It looked like someone had done it on purpose.
"Sir, there are painted words on the bus!"
The driver had good eyesight and noticed the words painted in red paint on the bus at a glance.
"Stop moving forward! The airport is occupied by demons!"
As the vehicle slowed down and approached, Daryl could clearly see the painted words on the bus. Someone had deliberately blocked the road, trying to warn those heading to the hangar.
The convoy stopped on the road. Under the protection of the soldiers, Daryl got out of the car to look for suspicious signs nearby. On the burnt black road surface, he found two pairs of footprints, one large and one small. The footprints were still very clear.
There was an SUV parked on the side of the road. On the road full of abandoned vehicles, the SUV looked out of place.
Daryl walked over to the SUV and touched the hood of the car. In the cold weather that was about to begin winter, he could feel the slight warmth radiating from the hood.
"They walked to the airport."
Daryl finally came to his own conclusion.
The paint on the burnt bus was a little dim. This was not a warning left by the person who took Clementine away, but probably left by a survivor who had been nearby.
At this moment, a soldier who was guarding Daryl suddenly felt a flash in the corner of his eye and a bright light flashed across his vision.
"Attention! There's a sniper!!!"
The soldier shouted loudly and immediately pushed Daryl away from him. He looked in the direction where the light was reflected and found something unusual.
He picked up his rifle and fired without saying a word. It was the rooftop of a low building, and someone was spying on the team from there! !
Boom boom boom boom...!
Several silenced rifles immediately opened fire to cover their companions standing on the road and help them find cover. Daryl dodged and crouched beside the SUV, turned off the safety of the AKM rifle, and aimed at the building where the sniper was.
"No no no! Stop! We are civilians!!"
The sound of a loudspeaker was heard on the rooftop of a low-rise building not far away. It was the voice of an elderly woman with a sense of vicissitudes of life. Only the voice could be heard, but no one could be seen.
At the end of the convoy, the soldiers around Rick began to move using the cover on the street, sneaking into nearby buildings or alleys, approaching the building where the sniper was located.
