Early in the morning on February 18th, Wang got up early and put on her clothes.

Tian Danian heard the noise nearby and asked in a daze, "Wife, it's still dark outside, why are you up so early?"

At this time, Wang had already put on her clothes and put on her shoes neatly.

"Haven't we already decided to go to Maoer Mountain to worship the Buddha today? I'll get up early and cook, and we'll go after we finish eating."

"There's no need to be so early!"

Tian Danian was helpless. Why don't we get up half an hour earlier than usual? It's probably too early in the morning for everyone to eat anything.

He wanted to turn over and go back to sleep, but he was already woken up and couldn't fall asleep again.

Helplessly, he had to put on his clothes and ran to the backyard to feed the horses.

Of the original alpacas, only six are left.

Since such a large "sheep pen" was not needed, a space was separated out to raise the family's horse.

Years ago, Tian Danian specially made a feeding trough with wooden boards, specifically for feeding horses.

After this horse came to the Tian family, its food was improved, and after being carefully raised by Tian Danian, it was much fatter and stronger than when it first came to the Tian family.

Even if we drag it back to its previous owner now, I’m afraid the previous owner won’t be able to recognize it.

After the family finished their breakfast, they set off in a hurry.

Maoer Mountain is a branch of Pinglin Mountain. It is located in the southeast of Tianjia Village, about eighty or ninety miles away from Tianjia Village.

The Pudu Temple on Maoer Mountain is under the jurisdiction of the neighboring Kang County.

Every spring, when the Buddha's Day comes at Pudu Temple, Wang would go there to worship the Bodhisattva and pray for some amulets for peace.

She doesn't ask for great wealth and fame, but only for her family to be healthy and live a happy life. This has been a habit that Wang has developed over the years.

In previous years, the Tian family did not have a car, so Wang and Tian Danian came in other people’s cars.

They usually set out early in the morning, take the donkey cart of an old man driving a car from the next village to Pinglin County, and then take a horse carriage from Pinglin County to Maoer Mountain.

In order to save money, they would only bring one child when they came every year. After all, one more child would cost more money for transportation.

Because the journey was long, the fare for one person was eight cents, and for three people it was more than twenty cents.

For the Tian family in the past, twenty or so cents was considered a considerable expense.

Today, the Tian family has plenty of money and food, and they even have a carriage, so the couple decided that this year the whole family will go to the Pudu Temple on Maoer Mountain.

The carriage went steadily towards the southeast of Tianjia Village. The stone that was originally sitting in front of the other side of the carriage had long been replaced by wood and moved into the carriage.

"Dad, at the speed we're driving, how long will it take to get there?"

Tian Danian looked up at the sky. It was getting light and he saw a few pedestrians on the road. Most of them were heading southeast like the Tian family.

The 18th day of February, March and April every year are big days for the Pudu Temple on Maoer Mountain. Not only is it bustling with people, but there is also a constant stream of people burning incense and worshiping Buddha.

"At this speed, we'll be there in more than an hour, almost two hours."

Mu Tou was quite excited about this trip to Maoer Mountain.

In his memory, he still had some impression of the Pudu Temple on Maoer Mountain.

The last time he went there was when he was seven years old.

However, it has been many years now and many of my memories have become blurred.

Mu Tou only remembered that there were a few big trees on Maoer Mountain. The temple was not big, but there were many people. There were also many stalls selling food at the foot of the mountain.

That year, when they went there, it seemed that the family had finished farming, and his parents took him to a small stall at the foot of the mountain to eat a bun.

Although it was not made of meat, it was at least made of white flour. Mu To this day, he still remembers the taste of that bun.

Alas, Mu Tou sighed, it would be great if he could taste the buns again.

The Tian family arrived at the foot of Maoer Mountain smoothly. Nowadays, many small shops have been built at the foot of Maoer Mountain. Even on ordinary days, people come here to burn incense, so these shops exist.

Tian Danian spent twenty cents to leave his horse and carriage at a tea stall, and then hiked up Maoer Mountain with his family.

Maoer Mountain is not very high, with an altitude of only 1,800 meters. A temple is conspicuously located on the highest peak of Maoer Mountain.

Along the way, Tian Xiaoman noticed that some people who were sincerely praying to Buddha and making wishes even started from the foot of the mountain, kneeling and praying step by step, climbing to the top of the mountain little by little to show their piety.

It took almost a quarter of an hour, almost two quarters of an hour, for the Tian family to reach the top of Maoer Mountain.

After reaching the top of the mountain, the Tian family separated.

Wang took her two daughters into the main hall in front, ready to worship the Buddha and draw a lot. There was a fortune teller at the entrance of the hall, and one could get a lot by spending one or two coins.

Tian Danian took his sons and wandered around the temple.

Many male pilgrims like them came with their female family members, and they all wandered around the mountain bored from waiting.

When leaving the temple, Mu Tou was not paying attention and was tripped by the threshold of the door. He fell to the ground like a dog eating shit. It took him a long time to get up because of the pain.

"Wood, are you okay?"

Hanhan came over and helped him up. Mu Tou grimaced in pain and said, "It's okay! How is that possible!"

The shin bone of his right leg had hit the door sill and it was now throbbing in pain.

When he fell, he landed on his face first, and he felt as if his teeth were a little loose.

He turned around to look at the Buddha statue in the center of the hall not far away, with a kind smile as if the Buddha's light was shining everywhere. He cursed in his heart and then rubbed his aching calf.

"Let me see--"

Tian Danian came over and rolled up his youngest son's trouser legs to check.

With just this one move, a large blue and red area appeared on the front of Mu Tou's right calf.

He was wearing cotton pants. If he was only wearing a pair of pants in the summer, he would probably bleed.

Tian Danian touched a few more bones and asked Mu Tou if it hurt. When he heard Mu Tou say it didn't hurt, Tian Danian's face looked better.

"No bones were broken, but the skin was hurt a little. I'll teach you not to look at the road next time you walk. You are so old, don't you know to lift your feet higher when you step over the threshold?"

Mu Tou felt aggrieved. Dad, I'm the one who's hit my leg, and not only don't you comfort me, you're even scolding me.

If it were the two daughters in my family, they would probably be rushing to see a doctor right now, right?

Alas! In the Tian family, there is no comparison between sons and daughters!
