Rift: Countdown to Doomsday

"Hey, what are you doing standing there?" A loud voice suddenly broke the silence.

Ling Feng turned around and saw a tall and burly man standing not far away, holding a huge battle axe in his hand, looking at him with displeasure. "I'm just resting here for a while," Ling Feng replied with a smile.

The man frowned, put down his battle axe and walked over, "This is not a place for you to rest casually, outsider."

"Oh? Then this place is yours?" Ling Feng raised his eyebrows, not afraid at all.

"My name is Lieyan, and I'm the guardian of this area. No one is allowed to enter without permission." Lieyan became more alert, with a hint of hostility in his eyes.

Ling Feng looked at Lie Yan and secretly assessed the other party's strength in his heart. "I have no ill intentions. I am just passing by here and stopped for a while. Please forgive me if I have offended you."

"Passing by?" Lieyan snorted coldly, "There is an unusual aura about you. Who are you?"

"Ling Feng, a traveler." Ling Feng answered lightly, but he knew that Lie Yan would not believe it easily.

At this time, a graceful figure walked out of the woods. It was a woman with a slender figure, holding a long sword and looking sharp. "Lieyan, what happened?"

"Lan Ya, this guy doesn't look simple. I suspect there's something wrong with him." Lie Yan explained.

Lan Ya looked at Ling Feng carefully, a hint of doubt flashed in her eyes, "Who are you?"

"Ling Feng," he replied calmly, "I'm just passing by."

Lan Ya stepped forward, the tip of her sword slightly pointed at Ling Feng, "If you are really passing by, can you answer a few questions for me?"

"Of course," Ling Feng nodded, "but I hope you can trust my sincerity."

Lan Ya put down her sword and motioned Ling Feng to sit down. "So, where are you from? Where is your destination?"

"I come from the far north, searching for a legendary treasure," Ling Feng answered honestly, "I heard it could help me solve some important mysteries."

"The north?" Lan Ya frowned. "That's a dangerous place. How did you survive?"

"Depending on wisdom and luck," Ling Feng smiled, "and some special abilities."

"Special abilities?" Lie Yan and Lan Ya asked in surprise at the same time.

Ling Feng nodded and motioned for them to look at his palms. Suddenly, a faint light appeared in his palms, and then disappeared. "This is a power from another world," Ling Feng explained.

"Another world?" Lie Yan and Lan Ya looked at each other, obviously shocked by Ling Feng's words.

"Yes, I am a reborn person with the power of the system," Ling Feng said frankly, "This is also the reason why I can survive in this dangerous land."

"System?" Lan Ya's curiosity was completely aroused. "Can you tell me more about it?"

Ling Feng nodded. "I have a system that allows me to continuously improve my abilities and acquire various skills and equipment. This is why I can survive in the harsh environment of the north."

"That sounds impressive," Lieyan let down his guard, his eyes gleaming with admiration, "In that case, I think we can be friends."

"Friends?" Ling Feng smiled, "I'm happy to do so, but why do you trust me?"

"Because we have seen your sincerity and ability," Lan Ya replied, "In this land, trust and strength are equally important. And you obviously have both."

Ling Feng nodded, "So, we are companions now?"

"Yes," Lieyan stretched out his hand, "Welcome to join our team, Lingfeng."

Ling Feng held Lie Yan's hand and felt the warmth of his palm. "Thank you. I'm glad to meet you too."

"What are your plans next?" Lan Ya asked.

"I need some time to rest and sort out my thoughts," Ling Feng replied, "and then continue my journey to find the legendary treasure."

"We can go together," Lieyan suggested, "perhaps we can help you."

"That's great," Ling Feng accepted it gladly, "I believe that with your help, my journey will be much smoother."

Lieyan and Lan Ya smiled at each other, and the three decided to face the next challenges and adventures together on this land. They knew that the road ahead would not be smooth, but with each other's support, they would be fearless.
